Chapter 697 Introduce Someone To You

Linda nodded. She realized that Adrian was very clever.

He could guess what she was about to ask him before she even said anything.

Adrian hesitated for a while. The truth was that he didn't want to tell anyone about his family matters, but since the person asking him about them was Linda and he was on familiar terms with her, he decided to tell her about them.

"Linda, I'll tell you about my family matters, but you can't share it with anyone else, okay?" Adrian asked, looking at Linda questioningly.

"Of course I won't tell anyone else about it." Linda had always been a discreet person who was good at keeping secrets. She definitely wouldn't reveal anything about Adrian's family to other people, especially now that Adrian had specifically asked her not to.

Bun, who was standing beside them, turned to Linda and said, "My Lady, should I give the two of you some privacy?"

Adrian shook his head and said, "It doesn't matter. You can stay here, but don't tell anyone about what I'm going to tell you now."

Both Linda and Bun nodded.

Since Adrian trusted her, Linda would never break his trust.

"A few years ago, I ran away from home because I had a quarrel with my family members. They didn't want me to develop my career in the entertainment industry. If not for my uncle, I would have definitely been dragged back home," Adrian began.

He took a cigarette and a lighter out of his pocket and then quickly lit the cigarette.

Linda had never seen Adrian smoke. Now, seeing the serious expression on his face, she felt a bit amused because Adrian always pretended to be a sophisticated man even though he wasn't.

Adrian had barely taken two drags of the cigarette when he began coughing from the smoke.

Linda reached out to take the cigarette from his hand, and then threw it onto the floor and stamped it out with her foot.

"You're just telling us about your family matters, so why do you have to smoke and pretend to be a mature man?" she teased.

A deep shade of red colored Adrian's neck.

"Can't you show a little respect for me?" he asked unhappily.

"Fine, fine, I won't tease you. But you can't smoke anymore," Linda said, feeling a bit disappointed. She had a lot of fun teasing Adrian.

She felt tired after standing for such a long time, so she picked up the drink next to her and sat down on the sofa as she continued to listen to Adrian.

"Until a few years ago, my father, being the eldest son, was the successor of the Wang Clan, but he abandoned my mother and married his mistress. My grandfather was so angry at him that he deprived my father of his identity and appointed my uncle as the successor of the Wang Clan."

"Why did your grandfather let Becker

ke up within three months," Adrian said.

When he'd seen the news report, he'd been confused about who Linda was talking about. He'd thought that the person she was referring to was Lord Xia, not Lord Nalan.

Adrian didn't follow the news carefully so he had no idea what was going on.

"I'm not certain about that," Linda admitted, shaking her head.

"Why did you make such an unrealistic promise if you weren't sure you could deliver it? I'm afraid that if your grandfather doesn't wake up in three months, those media reporters will make a lot of disparaging remarks about you and destroy your reputation."

"They were already making such remarks about me anyway. This was the only way to fend them off and buy myself more time. What else can I do?" Linda felt helpless about the whole thing.

Anna had recently contacted her friend who was a famous doctor abroad to check with him whether there was a chance of Lord Nalan regaining his consciousness. Anna's friend had come to the country a few months ago with his team and tried their best to treat Lord Nalan, but now...

Linda couldn't bring herself to imagine what the result would be. She became scared and worried all of a sudden.

Seeing Linda in a bad mood, Adrian opened his mouth, trying to say something, but then closed it again hesitantly.

At last, he spoke, "Well, there's someone I want to introduce you to."

Linda couldn't understand why Adrian was joking about introducing her to someone when she was in such a bad mood. Of course she wasn't interested in meeting anyone. "I already told you that I have a husband, so why do you still want to introduce someone to me? I don't want to meet anyone else, except maybe your boyfriend."

Adrian wore a wry smile and said, "Well, that's exactly who I want to introduce you to."
