Chapter 52 - Conclusion

EverHill looked at her in shock as his life force diminished at a fast pace.

Golden roots bound his feet, his hands, and his weapons and pinned him to the ground in a kneeling position.

Cheng Xiu pulled her sword out.

EverHill spit out blood.

His body pixelated away.

Cheng Xiu sheathed her sword back into its scabbard.

[Ding!]

[World Announcement: Grandmaster's Arena Battlefield.

Battle 3: SelaXiu Veritas Vs Immortal EverHill

Victory: Sela Xiu Veritas.]

Cheng Xiu closed her eyes as her vision darkened and her body pixelated away to the White Room.

In the wildering, the experts stared at the empty battlefield with mixed emotions.

"A newbie so powerful," Long Hei whispered. "To be able to defeat three-game experts in a one on one match. Is there even a way to defeat that sort of a person?"

"You have got a good seed there," Star Phoenix said with a yawn.

"You don't seem to be concerned," Crow observed.

"Why should I be?" Star Phoenix asked. "Isn't it just a high intelligence? Her little mind tricks will be difficult but not impossible to counter."

"Mind trick? What mind trick?" Long Hei asked.

San Zhe listened to their conversation closely while hoping they wouldn't notice him. After discovering that he was a Qiless, San Zhe felt awkward at talking to them.

"Don't know the skill she used but it seemed to affect a person's vision or something," Star Phoenix said.

Matchstick walked towards them, his yellow robes bellowing. "Just got a message from EverHill."

Everyone turned to him.

"She has a skill that directly makes the opponent forget about the skills they have."

The others looked at him in confusion and horror.

"Isn't that too broken a power?" Long Hei asked him. "No wonder she won!"

"Her win is more than that," Star Phoenix said to him in a condescending tone. "It's how she executed her skill that matters. How long do you think she had planned for that final move?"

Long Hei shrugged.

"From the first time she brought it out," Frost answered.

Star Phoenix nodded. "My thoughts exactly."

"You mean she started to plan this right when she failed to stab him with that fake javelin?" Long Hei asked. "She must have decided to use it only if it was necessary to."

"To be more specific," Frost looked at the clearing with a thoughtful expression. "She knew that the greatest advantage she had over EverHill was the Root and from the moment she brought it into play, she was constantly using Qi to camouflage it from EverHill."

"She only used it once before the end though," WuQi said with a thoughtful frown on her face. "Why wouldn't she immediately use it to restrain him? Unless…"

"It didn't have that fighting power before," Frost said with a nod.

"Where did it get its fighting power from then?" WuQi asked.

"The forest!" Long Hei said with a grin. Everyone turned to him for an explanation. "Why else would she move into dense woods that would hinder her movements unless it is to access the Wild Qi in the area!"

WuQi rolled her eyes. "Access Wild Qi? That is not something people can do voluntarily, idiot. She can't upgrade her skills using Wild Qi even if she could."

"What if it isn't a skill?" Long Hei asked in excitement.

Everyone froze.

"A Qi Pet?" Star Phoenix asked. "Are you telling me that the Grandmaster had a Qi Pet all along? Long Hei, after this I want you to challenge me to a Grandmaster Arena!"

"Why?"

"I want a Qi Pet too."

Long Hei looked at the greedy man in front of him with disdain. "Sure. Just give me the money to buy a Grandmaster then."

Star Phoenix froze and then coughed. "Never mind, I don't want one anymore."

"Isn't it just a pet?" Yue asked. "I finally know a way to defeat her easily. Crow, there is a specific talisman you can use."

Crow smirked. "I know. I thought the same man."

"What?" Long Hei asked.

Crow smiled at him. "Wait and see. If I tell you the trick then where would the fun be?"

"I don't mind spoilers," Long Hei said. "In fact, I'm the kind of person who reads the reviews before I watch a movie!"

Crow wrinkled his nose. "Why am I surprised?"

"How would I know? Am the Qi in your Heart who knows how your heart works?" Long Hei asked with an eye roll.

"What do you think her new rewards are?" Star Phoenix asked San Zhe.

"I...um...I don't know?" San Zhe said to him. "Probably has something to do with suppressing Talismans?"

Star Phoenix grinned. "Exactly."

"Something tells me the game doesn't like the fact that we are bullying a low level player," Long Hei said.

"No?" WuQi said in fake horror. "None of us could guess that! My God! You are so smart, Long Hei."

Long Hei gave her a glance at her tone and then grinned. "Aren't I? I knew you would see my greatness one day! But I must warn you, WuQi. You can't stop fawning over WenXian and start on me! I don't like hags!"

WuQi gritted her teeth. She wanted to kill Long Hei for being so thick-skinned.

"Who are you calling a hag?"

"I'm sorry. I meant Ugly woman."

"Long Hei!"

Lotus wrapped her whip around WuQi's waist to stop her from harming the green-robed menace.

The entire clearing echoed with WuQi's screams of frustration and Long Hei's terrified cry.
