Chapter 249 - What About Everyone Else?

Wu Lina prepared a large suitcase for both of them to spend time at the Yang Mansion. She looked forward to meeting everybody. She was especially interested in meeting yang Chen Lin. It had been so many days. For Wu Lina, this was now her family. She had stopped trusting her biological parents… all she felt was love for her mother… The relationships that she had nurtured in the Yang family were far more valuable to her. So when Yang Xinyu told her that he wouldn't be uncomfortable at the Yang Mansion, enthusiastically she packed their luggage.

When Yang Xinyu finished talking to Wu Lina, he relaxed. Wu Lina would be away from her project for two days and would give him complete attention. All of a sudden a thought came to his mind – what will happen when she starts the company formally? He hated the idea and immediately shirked it off his mind. He thought of calling Yan Xiaojun to ask how it was going between him and Rosa, now that she had started working.

The rest of the day went by peacefully much to the relief of the employees. They had not seen their boss in such a bad mood after a long time. The last they had experienced was when Wu Lina had failed to show for the meeting before he had married her.

When Yang Xinyu came back in the evening, he saw that Wu Lina had already packed for them. He was happy inside but didn't show it on the outside. Wu Lina was as usual immersed in her research. He left her and went to take a shower.

In the morning, the next day they went to the Yang Mansion. The mayor was already present , as he wanted to spend as much time as possible with his son and daughter-in-law. He had asked his secretary to send the office work at home and he would be conducting work from there for the next two days.

When he saw Wu Lina, he was ecstatic. She looked lovely in her pregnancy, and the more he looked at her, the more he looked forward to meeting his grandchildren.

Mrs. Jiao had accompanied Wu Lina and Yang Xianu, since she knew all about her diet chart, and Yang Xinyu wasn't letting anyone else prepare food for Wu Lina.

Wu Lina settled in Yang Xinyu's room at the Yang Mansion. She remembered the first time she had seen it. She was so mesmerized by it that she wondered how rich people spent their money. She chuckled at herself and went to his bed, no their bed. Yang Xinyu entered the room maintaining his stiffness. When he looked at happy Wu Lina, he melted. "What are you laughing at Wu Lina?" he asked bemused.

She shook her head and said, "Nothing," and continued to smile. "Come here Xinyu," she beckoned him with her finger.

Yang Xinyu excitedly walked towards her, his face breaking into a thin smile. Just as he was about to sit near her, someone knocked the door. "Who is it?" he asked annoyed.

"It's me sire, the butler."

"What do you want?" asked yang Xinyu rudely.

The butler shrank in fear and replied timidly, "Missus, the mayor is calling you."

Wu Lina got up from the bed and said, "Later," to Yang Xinyu before leaving to meet the mayor. Yang Xinyu was eating vinegar.

The mayor was waiting for Wu Lina over breakfast. When she came and sat in the chair, the servants placed a variety of dishes made exclusively for her on the table under Mrs. Jiao's supervision. She picked a little from all of them and started eating. The mayor questioned her about the project, "How is the research going?"

"Father I am in the final stages. I have been approaching several big movie stars but most of them have declined our offer even though I have offered them huge commissions and our contract terms and conditions are far better than most out there in the market. They are showing any inclination to not joining us mostly because we are new and we don't have experience," said Wu Lina feeling discouraged.

The mayor was satisfied with her progress. He said, "Don't worry. It is just the beginning. Unless you get into it properly, how will you know."

He went on to tell her about some of his new ventures that he had undertaken when he was younger and how he had failed at them. While he was narrating his stories, Yang Xinyu entered the dining hall. He sat quietly opposite Wu Lina hoping to get her attention. When she didn't pay attention to him, he stretched his leg and slowly lifted her dress to caress her legs. Wu Lina pushed his leg away, but he resumed his activity a second later.

Wu Lina was red. Her father-in-law asked her, "Is the food spicy?"

"Uh, no father," she blabbered.

"Okay… so when do you think you will be able to start working in the office?" he asked.

"Maybe after a week," she replied pinching Yang Xinyu's feet.

But the shameless husband of hers didn't waver. He kept on teasing her until breakfast was over.

The mayor finished his breakfast and asked her to accompany him to the living room. Yang Xinyu also followed them.

Their prolonged conversation on the project was maddening. Yang Xinyu lost his patience and said, "Father, don't you have to go and attend to the office today? Your secretary called you."

"No, I don't have to. I have asked my secretary to send me the work over here instead," said the mayor looking at his foolish son. What kind of a question was that?

Yang Xinyu's face contorted, and he said, "But you have important meetings all day. You must go to the mayor's house." He gestured for his father to leave Wu Lina.

The mayor scratched his head and said, "Do I? But all my meeting have been rescheduled…"

"Yes, yes, father, you have!" nodded Yang Xinyu vigorously.

Wu Lina was baffled at the conversation between the father and the son. She just interrupted them, "Father, what about everyone else? When will they arrive?"
