Chapter 136 - I Am Not ‘Sir’

In the next ten minutes, Wenqian narrated the story to Wu Lina in shortcut. Even though Wu Lina knew that the man in front of her was her father, she was amazed at the mother's sudden revelation of the past events. She saw the extended hand of her father, his warm face that had tears flowing out uncontrollably. He was waiting for her. He didn't listen to a word Wenqian had spoken. The moment of seeing his child for the first time had frozen. He had only seen her when she was a little bump.

Wu Lina reached out and softly touched his hand, goose bumps lining her skin. She stared at him.

As soon as her hands touched Vladimir's, he grabbed her and said, "Oh thank you Jesus!" He kissed her hand and brought it near his face. If anyone in his world would see Vladimir now, they would be petrified wondering if the boss was about to die.

Her hands felt cold on his wet face. But today there was no control, he would let his tears flow as long as they came without holding any barrier. He had met his baby girl. He took his other hand to her head and patted. He kissed her hand again and looked at her intently. She was so petite and so beautiful. He felt proud of his genes!

He left her hand and said, "Wu Lina, you are the most beautiful baby I have ever seen in my life." Saying that he dug his coat pocket to take out the photo he had carried forever, the photo that showed her as a bump in her mother's womb.

"See, this is how you looked when you were not even born."

They were able to communicate with each other in broken English. Wu Lina's English wasn't that good but ever since she had started working, her understanding of the language became better since she had to deal with many foreigners at her work.

Wu Lina was caught up in a whirlwind of emotions. She had forgotten completely about Yang Xinyu. She had forgotten about their engagement. She was focused on her biological father, trying to make sense of the situation.

She tore the gaze away from him and looked at the photo. Her heart filled with warmth. Her father had carried this around with him ever since, near his heart, even if it was a photo. She looked at her mother and then her father. At that moment she wished they were together and that she belonged to a normal family.

Vladimir was now sitting cross-legged on the floor in front of her.

Wu Lina found her voice and the first thing she said politely out of her dried tears was, "Sir, please sit on the sofa, the floor must be cold."

Vladimir frowned heavily but he sat beside her as instructed. "I am not 'sir'. I am your father. Please call me father, Wu Lina. I have died a thousand deaths to see you and your mother for once all these twenty-two years. Please don't deprive me of that one word I deserve," he said, almost choking now.

For Wu Lina, this was a new situation. How could she say father to someone she barely knew? Before she could respond coherently, Vladimir produced a DNA certificate in front of her.

Wu Lina's heart raced as she braced herself to see the certificate. She took it in her shaky hands and immediately saw the number on the report – 99.9%.

How did Vladimir ever get this report? Does this mean…?

Vladimir smiled and as if reading her thoughts, he said, "Yes, I have connections everywhere." He touched the tip of her nose to tease her. He wanted to cuddle his child like he would have if she were a toddler or infant.

Wu Lina looked down and now her lips had curled up a little. Even if he was a mafia boss, she was glad that she could meet him.

Wenqian on the other hand was extremely happy. At least her daughter had some emotional support in the world now.

"Please Lina, call me papa. I want to hear that from you," Vladimir coaxed her. His years of waiting is now coming to fruition. He had lost all hope of meeting the two most precious people in his life. God had given him this great chance and he couldn't let it go.

He pleaded her once again, "Wu Lina, please, child…"

"Papa…" said Wu Lina feeling a little awkward.

Vladimir was on the top of the world. He pulled Wu Lina with ease towards him and hugged her so tightly as if he would never let her go ever.

"My child…" was all he managed to say. He was so satisfied that he felt he had achieved moksha. He was ready to die now. His heir will take over his place.

After Vladimir enveloped Wu Lina in his arms for a long time, he spoke with conviction, "Wu Lina, I want you to come to Bulgaria with me. You have no idea what is awaiting you over there. Your mother told me about how Wu Yi-Zheng threw you out of the house. I will not spare the man who made you suffer so much. He doesn't know what he has done!"

Wenqian, who was sitting beside them and watching the two of them, was shocked to hear his statement. "No, Vladimir, you cannot do that. He is the father of my son."

"But he dared to mistreat my daughter. Wenqian, do you know what Wu Lina is? She is my treasure. I will erase anything and anyone that will ever come in between her and her happiness," said Vladimir angrily.

Wu Lina was listening to her father's words in amazement. There was a man in this world who actually treated her like a daughter. Her lips curled while she basked in his display of protection.

"Please Vlad, I know you can do harm to anybody without leaving a trace of evidence. But I cannot let this happen. You cannot imagine how society will ostracize me, and what all will they gossip about me. We have leaded a respectable life so far. Please let it remain that way," said Wenqian, almost pleading him.
