Chapter 6 - The Temperamental Phase

Dr. Zhou turned towards the head nurse Su sāng ní and indicated her to leave. After checking on Yang Xinyu's pulse and temperature, he also left. Yang Xinyu curled back in his bed and went off to sleep in sometime as the sedatives he was given had begun to take effect.

The head nurse quickly went to the nurse station and narrated the incident to Wu Lina. She wanted to protect Wu Lina from possible emotional and physical imjury.

"You are in for a very challenging assignment Wu Lina. The new patient, Yang Xinyu, is extremely temperamental and hates women. He is not allowing any female doctor or nurse to enter his room. How will you manage? If you want I will ask Dr. Zhou to transfer you to look after a different patient."

"Thank you for your concern," Wu Lina replied with a benevolent smile. "But I think I can manage. I'll come to you if things go out of hand."

As her shift had ended, she politely excused herself and went back to the nurses' quarter, which was located within the hospital premises.

She had already familiarized herself with Yang Xinyu's trauma and was confident that with doctor's instructions, she would be able to treat him successfully.

Next morning when her shift started, she first walked in his room. She picked up his chart and read it intently. While she was reading, she heard the movement of clothes being adjusted. She saw that Yang Xinyu had removed his sheet and was walking towards her. He looked so scary that her first reaction was to run away. Inside, she was very nervous but managed to maintain her calm in front of him.

"I told…no woman is allowed in my room!" he snatched the papers from her hands and hurled them in the air. "Leave this room! Now!" His resentment was clear with his furious words and actions; he became breathless.

He waited for a few seconds for her to get out of the room herself before he grabbed her wrist and dragged her outside the room.

"I know all of you are Ying Yue's friends. Go and tell her that I know everything. She can't hide forever!" he sneered at her closing the door on her face.

Wu Lina didn't faze from his sudden outburst. She was already expecting his unruly behavior. Shedding her fear, she entered the room once again, "I have come here just to read your charts and give you medicine according to doctor's instructions."

She collected the papers calmly and before leaving the room, she informed him, "Whether you like it or not, I will remain your nurse till the time you are in this facility."

Yang Xinyu stared at her back with contempt as she left.

He picked the water jar next to him and threw it on the floor. His bloodshot eyes and throbbing veins on his forehead were visible.

Wu Lina was so scared with her first encounter with this man that she didn't go back to clear the broken glass pieces; instead, she sent a male cleaner to clean and disinfect the room.

An hour later, she was supposed to give him breakfast but was hesitant. She passed fifteen minutes circling and sitting alternately on the chair in her room and then mustered a little courage to face the impatient Yang Xinyu again.

"You? Again?" Yang Xinyu got up from his bed and charged towards her. He got hold of her shoulders and cast her against the wall. He leveled his gaze and with icy-cold voice, spoke, "If you want to come here, you have to break your friendship with Ying Yue."

"I am not Ying Yue's friend. I don't even know her. And I won't allow any of her friends to come near you, I promise." She spoke with determination.

He looked towards her like a wild animal refusing to be tamed.

A loud ring on the phone brought Wu Lina back to the present. Zhou Zhili's name started flashing on the screen and she picked it up instantly.
