Book 3: Chapter 3 (4/7)

Name:Twin Soul Author:Zskyph
Kain was meditating to create new magic spells when he heard the alarm bell ringing throughout the city. Kain opened his eyes and thought to himself, “I sensed powerful energy coming toward here. This energy is much bigger compared to Adrik Volsky.”

Jaane was also meditating and was about to stop when she heard the alarm bell ringing but Kain said, “Jaane, don’t let it bother you. Just stay here and continue with your meditation process. I will go see what happened.”

Seeing Reana was still flying around Jaane, Kain thought for one second and said, “Iviss, appear.”

From the knife holstered by Jaane’s waist, Iviss transformed into her human form and kneel on the ground in front of Kain and said, “Lord.”

“Iviss, I needed you to guard Jaane while I’m gone.”

“I will guard the Mistress per your command, dear Lord.”

Kain flexed his Vampire Wings and flew outside of his palace toward the powerful energy that he sensed was coming toward his direction. Outside of the palace, Kain saw Etgar Revenmar was already transformed into a Vampire Lord and started fighting with someone. Flew in a little closer, Kain could see that it was Noe Clerico, Lord of the Gray. Sensing how powerful Noe was, Kain calmly said, “Guildmaster, you should retreat and let me handle this.” Etgar could also feel his enemy wasn’t weak. Despite never having met Noe Clerico before, Etgar could guess the person he was fighting with was Lord Clerico since a Wind Walker was standing nearby. Besides Noe Clerico, who else from the Mages Council would dare to step into the Dryardian Empire alone? But still, Etgar wanted to test out his magical power against Noe Clerico despite Kain advising him to retreat.

Part of Kain wanted to interfere immediately while the other part of him wanted to see if Etgar could be powerful enough to fight against Noe or not. That was why Kain stopped himself from interfering and just watched Etgar struggling to attempt to harm Noe Clerico while Noe was just flying still at the same location and smiling.

Even when being heavily attacked by Etgar Revenmar, Noe Clerico completely ignored him, turned toward Kain, and asked, “Kain Almos, ah… I should call you Kain Bersk now. I was wondering who Kain Bersk is, glad to know that was you.”

Kain nodded his head, smiled back at Noe, and said, “Your Grace, long time no see.”

“I was so heartbroken when the news was delivered that you were killed by a Legend-tier Magical Beast inside the Magical Forest near Redkeep city. I’m jovial to see you are still alive.”

“My apology for worrying you. Lord Clerico, why are you here?”

“I’m here to check out who Kain Bersk is and how strong he is. Now I have perceived who you truly are. The only reason you hid your true identity and joined Mages Academy of Nosh was to conceal the fact that you are a Blood Mage. Judging by your appearance, you must have become a Vampire Emperor through Soul Advancement Stone. And the only way to obtain that precious stone is through a Timeless Dungeon. Perhaps you have gone through the Timeless Dungeon, just like I have. As a Blood Mage, you must have chosen to enhance your Blood Soul into True Vampire Soul instead of choosing to enhance your Conjurer Soul into Necromancer Soul, Divination Soul, or Ethereal Soul."

Kain thought to himself, " Divination Soul or Ethereal Soul huh. I see. There is more than just one upgrade for Conjurer Soul and Iris didn't tell me anything about it."

Kain wasn’t surprised that Noe could guess he went through the Timeless Dungeon since that was the only logical explanation how Kain could massacre a massive city such as Benil within a day of his return.

It has been more than forty seconds, but Etgar couldn’t cause any damage on Noe Clerico regardless of how much he tried. Etgar realized the gap in magical power between him and Noe was too much. Etgar didn't believe it when Adrik Volsky told him about how strong Noe Clerico was. But now after witnessing it himself, Etgar was glad that he didn't attack the Mages Council when he first stepped into level 51 of Saint-tier or it would be game over for the Blood Mages Guild.

Etgar stopped attacking Noe, flew back fifty feet, and shockingly asked, “What are you?”

Noe turned his head back toward Etgar and said, “Little mosquito, I am Noe Clerico. Lord of the Gray. Protector of the Mages Council. The strongest Saint Conjurer Mage in the history of Toria Continents. Do you have any more questions?”

“None of my magic spells worked on you. How can that be?”

“Oh, about that. I activated one of my Monk Warrior’s abilities named [Damage Mitigation]. Other Eleventh Stage Monk Warriors can only mitigate forty percent of incoming damages. But I can mitigate up to eighty percent of all incoming damages. On top of that, my natural Physical Resistance and Magical Resistance rates were too much for your little magical power to not even manage to cause a single scratch.”

“What nonsense are you speaking of? How can a Monk Warrior mitigate up to eighty percent of incoming damages? This is against logic.”

“Logic? Ah… so simple-minded. Mosquito, you can get out of my face now and let me speak with the true powerhouse of Blood Mages Guild, Kain Bersk.”

Kain said, “Guildmaster, please leave and evacuate everyone from here.”

Noe asked, “Guildmaster? Mosquito, are you the Guildmaster of the Blood Mages Guild? I heard of how you have played with the other Lords of Colors. That was nice. I have some good laughs hearing about it.”

Etgar said, “Don’t be cocky. Kain will finish you in one attack.”

“Is that so? Well then. Kain Bersk, show me what you got. Oh wait, you don’t have to evacuate anyone. We can move our battle outside of Benil city to prevent unnecessary casualty if needed.”

“Agreed. After you.” Kain put his right hand out as a gesture of allowing Noe to leave first.

Noe's pure intention of coming here today was to find out how strong Kain Bersk truly was. He didn’t want to hurt anyone else. If Noe wanted to, he could have obliterated the Dryardian Empire off the world’s map a long time ago. Noe has chosen to let the Demi-Humans have their fun because their existence is needed per Watcher Zorim's order. Besides Noe Clerico, no one else knows that Watcher Zorim was the one who opened the portal connected from Byham Continents to Toria Continents then allowed those Demi-Humans to through.

Noe turned around and was about to fly outside of Benil city to avoid unnecessary casualties for the battle between Kain and him. But that was Noe’s thinking, not Kain. As soon as Noe turned his back, Kain activated the [Devil Anatomy] spell and created a giant fiery battle-ax as his choice of weapon then swung it at Noe’s back at full force. That swing was powerful enough to cause major damage even when Noe’s [Damage Mitigation] ability was still working. Kain quickly swung his battle-ax again and this time chopped Noe into two pieces. Knowing Noe was a Conjurer Mage, Kain was prepared for Noe to revive himself using the [Second Life] spell to kill him again.

As expected. Noe revived himself and Kain immediately swung his battle-ax again, chopped him into two pieces just like before. Kain laughed out loud and said, “Hahaha… Strongest Conjurer Mage in the history of Toria Continents my ass.” Kain was about to fly away but he saw the Wind Walker that was conjured by Noe was still flying there.

Kain thought to himself, “Hmm? Why is the Wind Walker still alive? I’m sure that wasn’t his [Shadow Clone]. With the enhancement of my Vampire Mutant’s senses, I could have detected Noe's [Shadow Clone] spell if he used it.”

Noe revived himself again and was about to say something but Kain wouldn’t allow that to happen. Kain swung his battle-ax again and killed Noe in an instant. Just like before, Noe revived himself again and Kain swung his giant fiery battle-ax once again.
