Book 2: Chapter 9 (8/9)

Name:Twin Soul Author:Zskyph
Standing in the middle of Falconwyn city with more than fifty million corpses combined of both Lycans and humans, Kain screamed out loud, “Iris, I’m ready to move on to the next tier.”

Iris appeared with a smile on her face as she greeted Kain. Kain asked, “You seem to be happy, did you bet that I will rob the Vampire Kings and then massacre a city to refill the empty Blood Rings?”

Iris nodded and said, “I’m starting to understand you more now. I hope you will keep making the right decisions.”

“Right decisions? As long as the decisions I made help you win the bet then you will be happy, right? What about the Watcher Tykan? Did he win the bet?”

“He did.”

“I see. Well, good for you guys.”

Kain thought to himself while smiling, “You guys thought you have me all figured out huh. I don’t know what kind of adventures I will encounter in the next tier, but I will make sure you lose your bet.”

Iris rewarded Kain for completing the Sixth-tier by giving him Magical Ice Diamond Steel to use as crafting materials and two Large Mana Stones. Those Ice Diamond Steel can absorb and reflect all Ice Magic spells casted by weaker Ice Mage compared to its wielder.

Iris teleported Kain to the Seventh-tier of the Timeless Dungeon. Kain opened his eyes and saw he was standing in the middle of a crowded town. Everything was frozen because of Iris’s [Time Stop] spell so no one noticed Kain and Iris had appeared. Iris said, “Your quest for this tier is very easy.”

“Oh yeah? What is it?”

“Find a job and work for ten years without fighting with anyone. You are prohibited from using magic or strength to fight with other people. And no, you can’t be a hunter by using Conjuration Magic and make them hunt animals for you. And you can’t use any part of your strength to hunt down animals either.”

“Are you out of your mind? What job do you expect me to get? If I can't be a hunter, what else can I do when you are prohibiting me from using strength and magic?”

“Dear mister genius, figure it out then. Ten years, no magic, no strength, don't forget that.” Iris disappeared and everything in this realm returned to normal.

Kain asked himself, “Find a job? I have never worked at a job in my entire life. Oh wait, what about crafting? I can craft Magical Equipment now. Maybe I can open a blacksmith shop specialized for Magical Weapons and Magical Armors or something like that.”

Kain brought the two steel daggers embedded with a small Mana Stone on each that he crafted in the Sixth-tier to a local weapon shop and sold it for two gold coins. He used these two gold coins to rent a place and bought crafting equipment to start his Magical Equipment Crafting business. The first thing Kain wanted to do was to craft a Magical Diamond Ice Long Sword embedded with two Large Mana Stones that were shaped into the handle. Kain thought about the design of his sword to be similar to the long sword that Finwe carried.

After careful consideration, Kain decided to split the two Large Mana Stones into twelve small Mana Stones. Then, Kain used the Ice Diamond crafting materials and crafted a Magical Ice Diamond Spear that is bondable to a Mage's Elemental Soul. Lastly, Kain carefully embedded the twelve small Mana Stones into the spear.

"My Devil Soul won't need any weapon as I can generate any kind of magic weapons as I wanted. This Ice Diamond Spear will be bound to my Conjurer Soul instead." Kain thought to himself as he dropped his blood into the Magical Spear to make it became his Soul-Bound Weapon.

Things didn’t go well as Kain had thought. He was forced to shut down the business after two months of having no customers. Kain sold all of the animal hides and ate all the meat jerky that he stored inside his Storage Ring to survive for four months after that before becoming a homeless person.

“Damn it. It has only been half a year and I am already homeless.” Kain cursed as he was kicked out of the hotel he was staying in after failing to pay for the room for more than a week. If Kain can use his magic or physical strength, then things would be much easier. Kain thought long and hard then finally decided to work as a beggar.

"Who thought a powerful being such as myself one day has to work as a beggar?" Kain smirked and joked about it.

Six days later. “Begging is also a profession, isn’t it?” Kain asked using an argument tone when he was being arrested by two city guards.

“The law clearly indicated beggars can’t be inside the city. You will be in jail for three days.” A city guard stated.

"F**k you and your law!"

"Twenty days in jail for insulting the laws. A total of twenty-three days."

The good thing is Kain hid all of his Magical Equipment inside a Storage Ring and that ring was always kept inside his boots. The guards didn't check Kain's boots because of the horrible smell released from them. Kain didn't shower for six days so that was normal. They stripped him naked, seized his clothes, but let him keep the boots before throwing him inside a dungeon cell.

In the dungeon cell of the jail, Iris appeared and warned Kain, “Kain, just letting you know that you haven’t worked a day in this tier yet. The business you have opened made no money so that doesn't count. Begging isn't a profession, so that doesn't count as well. Remember, you have to find a job and work for ten years before I can move you on to the next tier.” Iris vanished again after saying that.

Twenty-three days of forced hard labor due to being a prisoner, Kain was finally released from jail. After taking a shower and getting his clothes back from the jailors, Kain decided to put his dignity away and work as a waiter for a small restaurant. The money he made wasn’t worth mentioning but at least Kain can afford to live in a small shelter along with other people and have two small meals daily. “A powerful being such as myself still has to endure something like working at a lowly job. How f**k up is this?” Kain thought to himself as he fell deeper into his dream hoping things will be better when he wakes up the next day.

Four months later. “Boy, what takes you so long to take my order!?” An angry male customer pulled Kain back and yelled at him because he has been here for more than three minutes and no one takes his order yet.

“My apology, this table will be served by Esther. She is currently busy at another table, please give her two more minutes.” Kain professionally apologized and explained to the customer.

“What about you? You are available to take my order, aren’t you? At least take down the order of my drinks.”

“I won’t be able to do so. The manager assigned us sections of the restaurant that we will have to work in. My customers are waiting for me to take their order, please excuse me. I will let Esther know about this so she can take your order as soon as possible.”

“I demand you to take my order now!”

“I will refer you to my manager so she can explain to you better.”

A female manager heard the yelling, she rushed over and asked the customer, “Sir, is everything okay?”

“I have been here for more than five minutes now and no one takes my order yet. I told this boy to at least take down my drink order and he said he can’t do it.”

“Kain, take the customer’s order.”

Kain said, “But you said that I-”

“Customer satisfaction is above everything else, do you want to get fired?”

“No, ma’am.”

“Good! Now apologize to the customer and take his order immediately.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

Kain turned toward the customer, bowed his head, and said, “I’m sorry, sir. May I take your order?”

“Atta boy.” The customer smiled because he had placed Kain in his place as a waiter.

Esther ran over to the table and said, "Sir, I'm sorry because you have to wait longer than expected. The other table had more than twenty people and it took me a while to finish taking their order. Sir, I am available to take down your order now."

"I don't need you. I wanted this boy to take my order."

Esther turned to look at the manager, the manager nodded her head signaling Esther should not upset the customer.

“A mere restaurant waiter dares to delay taking my order? I won’t leave you any tip money today. That will make you learn how to keep customers happy.” He loudly ‘whispered’ to himself intent to let Kain hear it.
