Book 2: Chapter 7 (7/9)

Name:Twin Soul Author:Zskyph
Kain closed his eyes, put the Tykan Eye on his forehead, and patiently waited. “Hmm? Nothing happened yet.” Kain thought to himself as he opened his eyes. “What is this darkness? Is this another trial for the Tykan Eye? I thought Iris said that wouldn’t happen. Ah, there is light in that direction, I should go over there to check it out.”

Kain walked toward the light and it became brighter and brighter. “Ah, so I was in a dark cave. No wonder why I couldn’t see a thing in there.” Kain said as he walked out of the cave.

“What are they doing? Preparing for a fight?” Kain asked himself when he saw two men were about to fight with each other. A silver-haired man was flying in the sky while the brown-haired man was standing on the ground. The man on the ground opened two Dark Vortexes on the ground and twenty minions including Dragons, Demi-humans, humans, and creatures that Kain had never seen before walked out from it.

“If the man standing on the ground is a Necromancer, then the man flying using a big pair of Devil Wings must be the Devil. I thought the Devil had horns and was very ugly. I guess I was wrong because the Devil here seems to be roughly as handsome as me.”

Just like the pair of Archangel Wings, the pair of Devil Wings are much bigger compared to the regular pair of Demon Wings. Devil Wings are three times as big compared to Kain’s Demon Wings when he transformed into a flying demon using [Demon Anatomy IV].

The Necromancer commanded fourteen of his powerful minions to fly to attack the Devil while the other five stayed close to protect him. The other minion was a Dragon, the Necromancer jumped on its back allowing it to carry him and the other five minions.

The Devil calmly allowed fourteen minions to surround him. Before the minions can attack the Devil, he chants for a magic spell and then casted it. The ground was shaking abruptly because a giant gate with the number 1 written on it slowly rode on the ground. A second after the gate fully rose on the ground, it opened as millions and millions of demons flew through it, led by none other than Sizouze, Demon Lord of the First Gate.

The battle quickly changed from one versus one into one versus twenty-one. And now it changed to millions versus twenty-one. Even fighting with a massive army of several million demons, the Necromancer’s minions have never died once. The same thing can’t be to say for the demons though as they were quickly slain one after another. Even a powerful Demon Lord such as Sizouze couldn’t defeat one of the Necromancer’s minions.

“Quality versus quantity. Looks like quality still wins.” Kain thought to himself.

Kain continued watching the battle while smiling because he had done the right thing of choosing Necromancer Soul instead of the Devil Soul. But that quickly changed after Kain saw the Devil summon twelve other gates. Each gate opened allowing several million demons to go through, led by the Demon Lord of that gate. The tide of battle now changed from the demons losing to winning as the Necromancer’s minions were repeatedly killed.

“F**k quality, quantity is much better!” Kain yelled out loud as he saw how the Necromancer’s minions were losing to such massive demon armies, not including thirteen powerful Demon Lords of the Hell Realm.

“So this is the real power of a Devil. The ability to summon Thirteen Gates of the Hell Realm.” Kain continued observing the battle while thinking to himself. “Hmm… the Necromancer didn’t seem to mind that his minions were repeatedly killed since they can instantly get revived. But isn't that going to drain the Necromancer’s mana pool much faster if his minions kept reviving themselves?”

The battle didn’t just last for several hours, but days. Kain had lost the track of time as he was too focused on watching the battle between Devil and Necromancer. All the demons and twelve Demon Lords were killed by the Necromancer's minions. Only the Demon Lord of Thirteenth Gate was still fighting strongly. Kain's eyes opened wide when he saw how the Necromancer’s minions killed the last Demon Lord alive, leaving the Devil alone by himself once again.

“How large is the mana pool of this Necromancer? Ah… I understand now. Children who were born with Conjurer Souls have larger mana pools compared to children that were born with other Elemental Souls. This was also the reason why I have chosen to learn Conjuration Magic instead of other Elemental Magics. Necromancer Soul must have granted an enormously huge mana pool to the Necromancer Mage as an upgrade compared to Conjurer Mage, this explained how that Necromancer didn’t care when his minions continued being killed repeatedly by the demons. The choice is clear now. I have to be a Necromancer.” Kain thought to himself.

The Devil laughed out loud as he transformed into his true form. It wasn’t like what Kain had imagined. A pair of horns grew out of the Devil’s head but his outer appearance didn’t change at all besides that. The Devil created a great battle-ax out of mid-air, grabbed it using both of his hands, and flew straight toward the Necromancer. Despite being attacked by the Necromancer’s minions, the Devil ignored them all as none of the attacks from the minions could cause a minor scratch on his body. One mighty swing from his great battle-ax toward the Necromancer is all the Devil needed to end this battle.

Witnessing how mighty the giant battle ax swung by the Devil was, Kain looked at himself and asked, "Will my Flesh Demon Vampire Lord stand against that attack?" Even with the ability of self-generating from his [Abyssal Flesh] spell, Kain wasn't sure if he could survive against such a powerful attack.

Before the battle-ax could land on the Necromancer’s head, the Dragon Minion breathed out a giant ice beam attempting to push the Devil back several feet, preventing him from continuing attacking the Necromancer. Nevertheless, the Devil’s movement was slower but that ice beam wasn’t enough to push him back. Five other minions that were guarding the Necromancer quickly used all of their power to attack and successfully pushed the Devil back while the other fourteen minions joined them to attack him as well. The Dragon Minion then flew far away from the Devil to keep his Necromancer safe. The Devil quickly annihilated all minions that were surrounding him then flew toward the Necromancer and swung his giant battle-ax down. This time the ice beam from the Dragon’s breath couldn’t slow down the Devil as he chopped the Dragon’s head off like cutting tofu.

“Hoh? The Necromancer’s minions couldn’t revive themselves anymore. This is a clear indication that the Necromancer’s mana pool has reached depletion.” Kain thought to himself.

The Necromancer switched back to his Conjuration Magic and casted [Conjure Wind Walker] then commanded it to cast [Wind Walk] spells on him and itself.
