Book 2: Chapter 3 (3/7)

Larisa then used one of her javelins as a spear and flew toward Flint to attack him. Flint rolled up his left sleeve exposing a small device on his wrist and then something flew out from it. Unknowing what kind of device it was, Larisa still raised her shield to block it just in case. Sure enough, Larisa heard the sounds of darts hitting her shield. After the sound of forty-two darts hitting her shield was over, Larisa put her shield down but Flint wasn’t there anymore. Just when Larisa attempted to fly around looking for Flint, her instinct told her to raise her shield to cover her head and she did that immediately. Larisa’s instinct has never let her down and she won’t ever doubt it.

Larisa could hear at least four hundred crossbow bolts hit her shield and twenty-six bolts even penetrated through it. She sweats and thought to herself, “If I didn’t raise my shield but flexed my wings to attempt to fly away, I would have been killed by those bolts. Flint Duril, your archery skill is phenomenal.” Larisa scanned around once again using her sharp eyes. A shadow could be seen hiding behind some human warriors. She threw one of her javelins toward that direction and it penetrated through fifteen human warriors before hitting Flint. However, Flint once again successfully blocked it using his platinum dagger.

Great General Nambra Furivel swung her scythe furiously at Emperor Lucius Flavonius Acilianus but he once again blocked it using the claws on his left hand while returning with another fierce sword strike attack toward her. Nambra used her right leg to kick the sword away before swinging her scythe repeatedly toward Lucius’s head. Lucius moved his head back quickly to dodged Nambra's attacks. He then breathed out a strong beam of fire toward Nambra but she dodged before the fire beam could hit her.

“Human, agree to serve me and I will not kill you.” Lucius opened his kindly heart and offered Nambra a chance to serve him.

“Are you seriously asking me that? Do you have any idea how long have I wait to cut your head down? And you want me to serve you? Haha…” Nambra laughed out loud after asking those questions.

“Why would you want to cut down my head? Why would you want to do something impossible to achieve? Even a level 100 Saint Mage won’t have the ability to cut down my head. You are just a normal Saint Warrior, don’t make me laugh. I offered you a chance to serve me and you dare to refuse?”

“Serve you so I can kill my own kind? Kill other humans? No thanks. The Demi-Humans shouldn't be born in Toria Continents in the first place. I will cut down your head to drive off your army. As long as I am alive, the Demi-Humans won't be able to invade the Shota Empire!”

“The Demi-Humans don’t want to kill all the humans. We just wanted to force them to be slaves so they can serve the higher species such as us. Humans are full of greed, weak and stupid. If it wasn’t because they can use magic, the Demi-Humans would have enslaved them all since we first arrived in Toria Continents when the Creator moved us here from our old realm due to population overcrowding. How many times can humans invade our lands for the past twenty-nine million years? None. But our Empire will continue to expand until all humans are enslaved by Demi-Humans.”

“I didn’t know you were so talkative. But let me give you a hint. The reason we didn’t invade your lands was that we wanted you to start the invasion to clear out the small nations from this world. In that way, the big Empire such as the Shota Empire can legally claim the lands back under our name. Our Emperor could have invaded your lands fifty thousand years ago but we choose not to do so. Because we were waiting for your invasion against the Grand Duchy of Macmalian or the Commonwealth of Krorg. After that, the Shota Empire will drive the Demi-Humans back and claim these lands for our nation. But too bad, you have decided to attack us instead of them. Nevertheless, I am very pleased with your decision. I just want to cut your head off for my collection.”

After Lucius heard Nambra explained, he now understands why other big nations have never invaded his land before. He laughed out loud and said, “This is why you humans are greedy and so stupid. Have you ever heard the term ‘playing with fire will get you burned?’ This is what you humans are doing right now. My Empire will soon enslave all the humans from this land, the Shota Empire, not the Grand Duchy of Macmalian or the Commonwealth of Krorg. Your Emperor was greedy and she will have to pay for it.”

Nambra shook her head and said “You want to enslave all humans of the Shota Empire huh? That won't happen since I'm going to cut your head first. Losing an Emperor will make the idiotic Demi-Humans fighting recklessly and your entire army will either retreat or face the consequences of being wiped out.”

Nambra and Lucius then resumed their fight. An hour later, Things don't seem too good for Grod city as the East gate has been destroyed and the Demi-Humans have gone inside the city. The human warriors led by Queen Kavrala Fellmirr continued fighting strongly to push back the Demi-Humans despite the East gate has fallen. Even so, Nambra continued to fight calmly because she can easily drive them off as soon as she kills their Emperor. Nambra knows she can do it. She had been trained very hard for this battle and today it finally happened, Nambra won’t allow herself to fail. While fighting fiercely against Lucius, Nambra was suddenly starting to fall. It was because the Intermediate Wind Mage who casted [Wind Walk] on Nambra was having mana depletion. Felling from his high won’t kill Nambra, but it sure will cause some unwanted damages against her. But before Nambra hit the ground, another Intermediate Wind Mage immediately casted [Wind Walk] spell on Nambra to help her fly again.

Lucius smiled when he saw Nambra was fling toward him again. Lucius activated one of his abilities, [Empower], to temporarily magnify his strength up to two hundred percent (200%) at the cost of using his stamina more than ten times compared to the usual for one single attack. The claw on Lucius’s left hand caught Nambra’s scythe as she swung it toward him. Lucius then swung his sword onto Nambra's shoulder in an attempt of cutting her in half. Nambra activated [Invasion] to temporarily improve her evasion rates up to two hundred percent (200%) to avoid Lucius’s sword swing but the tip of the sword still landed on her shoulder because she wasn’t quick enough to completely dodge it. However, the tip of the sword wasn’t strong enough to cut through Nambra’s armor as she only received some bruises after that attack. Nambra used her right feet to kick Lucius’s left hand off to take back her scythe and flew back more than twenty feet to create some distance.

“Phew, that was very close. I almost got killed by his sword swing.” Nambra thought to herself as she was planning her next move.
