Volume 2 - Adventures in the Timeless Dungeon

Cade heard sounds of fighting outside of her tent. She quickly got dressed then went out of her tent to witness Kain’s Ice Gargoyle chop Chas’s head off. She asked in a screaming tone, “Kain! What have you done!?”

“Professor Lawson, this dick’s head refused to tell me where Sofia went. I didn’t see her when I came to start guarding the second watch. It had been more than ten minutes and he still refused to tell me where Sofia disappeared to.”

“You can’t just go killing an Army Sergeant like that. Stand aside.”

Cade casted [Resurrection] spell on Chas to revive her. Then she asked, “Chas, tell me where did Sofia go? Which direction? It’s very dangerous to roam around the magical forest at night. You understand that, don’t you?”

Chas pointed toward a direction and said, “Sofia told me she needed to go take care of personal matters. It was about five minutes before this Conjuration magic caster walked out from his tent.”

Kain yelled, “It had been more than fifteen minutes already!? Are you f**king retarded? Sofia never uses the restroom for more than ten minutes. If anything happens to her, I will make sure you can never get revived again!”

Kain casted [Summon Skeleton Warrior] fifty times, [Summon Phantom Knight] twenty times, [Summon Thunder Eagle] ten times, [Summon Fire Demon] five times then commanded them to spread out to look for Sofia in the direction Chas pointed to.

Chas was stunned by what he just saw. The five Fire Demons alone would have been enough to kill him not including the Ice Gargoyle flying next to Kain to guard him. After careful consideration, Chas decided to never disrespect Kain directly to his face again. If Kain dared to kill him once, he would dare to do it again. Plus, Kain threatens to make sure he won’t be able to be revived. That is not a threat that Chas wanted to experiment out. He just wanted to court Sofia so he can marry her and get special treatment from the army since her father is an Army General.

Chas was about to sneak away but Kain said, “Where do you think you are going? Go find Sofia now. If anything happens to her, you won’t leave this forest alive.”

Cade yelled at Kain when she heard that, “Kain! You can not threaten an Army Sergeant like that.”

“You shut the f**k up too! If anything happens to Sofia, all of you won’t leave this forest alive!”

Cade was fed up with Kain’s ignorance and couldn’t stand it anymore. Sofia is her student, there is no reason for Cade not to care about Sofia’s safety. But the law is still the law. The Army won’t allow a Student Mage to kill one of their warriors, not to mention that warrior is an Army Sergeant. Cade wanted to teach Kain a lesson so she casted [Summon Angel Warrior] and commanded it to attack him. Even if Kain is going to be killed by her Angel Warrior, Cade can still revive him so she wouldn’t worry much. And it would be better that way too. If Kain can’t cast the magic spell for the next thirty days, he won’t be able to cause any more quarrel with this Army Sergeant.

“Sofia’s safety is still unknown at this time. Instead of commanding your Angel Warrior to find her, you commanded it to attack me? Good… very... good!” Kain screamed as he activated [Soul Bridge]. A portal quickly appeared and Finwe, an evolved Thunder Eagle, bound to Kain Bersk’s Conjurer Soul, flew through the portal.

After colliding sword strikes with the Angel Warrior four times, Finwe easily chopped the Angel into two and flew toward Cade to attack her as Kain instructed him to. Cade casted [Circle of Protection] to protect herself while chanting for another [Summon Angel Warrior] spell.

Cade thought to herself, “How did he find a strong creature such as this Eagle Man to be bound to his Conjurer Soul? Even if I activate [Mana Infusion] to summon a Six Wings Angel, it is still not strong enough to be able to defeat such a powerful creature. Cade heard stories about how Kain dominated the arena until he got defeated by another Student Mage named Aber Hardy. But because Arthur Castillon was the winner of the Student Mages Tournament, his stories quickly outshine Kain’s stories. Cade never thought Kain was this strong. If she did, she wouldn’t dare to raise her voice against him when he is angry like this. Especially when Kain couldn’t think straight and threatened to kill everyone.

Finwe activated [Supercharge] then casted [Thunder Claws] to break through Cade’s [Circle of Protection]. He then activated [Thunder Step] to enhance his moving speed to a hundred times faster. Within a second, Finwe appeared behind Cade and attempted to penetrate his sword into her back. Cade managed to casted another [Circle of Protection] on time to help her block that attack. She was freaking out and didn’t know what else she could do since her chanting for another [Summon Angel Warrior] has not yet been completed.

“Kain, stop!” Arthur called out to Kain.

Kain was still angry but he immediately remembered that Cade was the only one here who could cast [Resurrection] spell. If he kills Cade, she will die for real because there was no way another Master Light Mage of minimum level 25 could have come here in less than thirty minutes to revive her. Kain gave the command for Finwe to stop attacking Cade and fly back to his location.

Kain pointed his finger at Arthur and said, “If anything happens to Sofia, I will massacre everybody here, including you.”

Since Arthur and Kain became friends, Kain had never threatened Arthur in any way. Arthur doesn’t know if Kain was lying about massacring everybody here. Because if Kain really meant it, at Arthur’s current level, he won’t be able to stop Kain from doing so.

Sofia was hiding behind a big tree nearby and she saw everything. She was just testing to see if Kain was still worried about her or not. But she couldn’t believe Kain dared to kill Chas Sandwise, almost murder Professor Lawson, even threatened to kill everyone here including Arthur Castillon. Sofia was somewhat happy because Kain still worried about her, but also afraid of Kain’s anger. Kain had always been nice and calm when he was with her. She had never seen him show this much anger toward anybody. And it scared her very much.

Sofia walked out of the location she was hiding in to prevent Kain from doing anything that he would regret later. “Kain...” Sofia mumbled Kain’s name to get his attention.

“Sofia? Are you okay? Are you hurt?” Kain ran toward Sofia while he was asking her those questions.

Kain’s scary face earlier popped up in her head, Sofia took a step back when Kain was running toward her. Seeing how Sofia took a step back, Kain stopped running and calmed himself down. Sofia said, “Kain, I’m sorry that I have worried you. I was just looking for a spot to be alone for some time. I didn’t mean to cause trouble for anyone.”
