Chapter 10: (7/10)

Name:Twin Soul Author:Zskyph
Etgar stood up and said, “I have promised to not fight with the Mages Council for another two hundred years. But I won’t allow the Executioner who killed my Linette to live any longer. That Executioner is now the leader of the Red. The chance of facing her outside of Bifjorkian Theocracy could come once every hundred years. I won’t allow this chance to pass up. Even so, this is my fight. All of you have been rescued by me when you were just little children. But you always have your own free will of whether or not to join me in my avenge cause. I won’t ask you to sacrifice your life to help me get revenge. Vonda Hardy was a level 82 Fire Mage Executioner of the Mages Council at the time she killed my Linette. Now, she is a level 85 Fire Mage, leader of the Red, one of the strongest magic caster in the Mages Council. I can’t guarantee that I will be able to defeat her as I have with Harbek Jarevar. Harbek was just a level 72 Earth Mage but he can surely fight on par with a level 50 Master in this room. Vonda Hardy is on an entirely distinct level compared to Harbek Jarevar.”

After several minutes of silence, Etgar continued, “Any of you who doesn’t want to help me can just walk out of the meeting hall right now. I promise not to prosecute you in any way.” Even when Etgar said so, if any Masters dare to walk out, he will immediately call them traitors and execute them on the spot. Etgar has one motto, 'If you are not with me, then you are against me.'

All the Masters started looking at each other but none left. They have lived with Etgar for too long to know what he will do if they dare to leave. Etgar nodded his head in happiness and remembered Kain was still here. Etgar turned toward Kain and asked, “Kain, what about you?”

Kain immediately answered, “Guild Master, I will assist you in your revenge at any cost. Even if that would cost me my life.”

“You are just a lowly Master-tier magic caster. Do you dare to face such a powerful opponent like Vonda Hardy?”

“I have courage but I’m not stupid. I won’t be naive enough to think I would survive two minutes against the leader of Red.”

“Then why do you still want to assist me knowing you are weak.”

“Because I can help you clean up the trash so you can focus your fight with her.” Kain meant weak opponents when he said ‘trash’.

“Haha… good! Let's begin our briefing!”

Back at the Ganarion city, Kain, Arthur, Avery Dorinshyl and her mother, father, and brother left the port of Mathyr city together in the vessel belonging to the Mages Council. Kain and Arthur could finally relax knowing they didn’t fail the mission assigned to them.

While sunbathing on the deck of the vessel, Arthur said, “Kain, what do you think about our first mission?”

Kain said, “It was easy. Each of us had borrowed six Magical Conjuration Stones and nine LYAUR. Even if we face a strong Legend-tier magic caster like Executioner Lyfalia Immeril as an enemy, I’m sure it wouldn’t be a problem for us to stay alive.”

“When do you think the Mages Council will send us out for another mission?”

“Who cares? I rather stay inside the Mages’ Academy to continue my training until graduation.”

“You were so excited about this mission before we departed. What happened that made you change your attitude one hundred eighty degrees like that?”

“I think it was because Princess Sarra Stodge was too interested in you while no one cares about me.”

“Ah… jealousy.”

“What were you guys talking about?” Avery asked Kain and Arthur when she approached them on the deck of the vessel.

“You came at the right time. Let me ask you a question. Avery, if you have to marry one of us, which one would you choose?” Kain asked.

“That would be Arthur Castillon.” Avery knew Kain was just using her as a metaphor. She had no problem giving Kain an honest answer.

“Why Arthur? How come you didn’t choose me?”

“He is handsome, humble, and doesn’t have diarrhea from the mouth.” Avery meant Arthur doesn’t say bad words as much as Kain.

“Such brutal honesty. I tell you what, I don’t like you at all.”

“Now now… Kain, don’t be jealous.” Arthur said in a mocking tone.

“Yeah, I hate you too.”

They laughed together while continuing to make small talk. Kain was happy because he avenged Menas. Arthur was happy because he completed the mission. Avery was happy because her talent was acknowledged and she was recruited to join the Gray without bribing anyone. Her family members will unquestionably have better quality lives living in Bifjorkian Theocracy. Avery will have a good future of working for Lord Clerico as well.

From the port of Emberun city belonging to the Sungaria Kingdom to the port of Crowbay city belonging to the Kingdom of Winharfia only takes four days using the seaway. Etgar commanded the Masters and guild members with the rank of Intermediate-tiers and above to rent hotel rooms from different hotels in order to avoid suspicion. Kain’s Second Soul in his appearance as a seventeen years old beautiful girl using [Shapeshifting] rented a hotel room for Nanya Dawnfowl and himself.

Nanya Dawnfowl was saved by Kain Bersk in Flumen city when she was about to die saving Emelia Kincade.

“Little sis, what is your name?” Nanya asked Kain in his disguise as a beautiful girl. She didn’t know that it was Kain. Kain was told by Etgar to not reveal his true identity to any guild members. Masters of the Blood Mages Guild who have attended the briefing learned about Kain’s Second Soul and Etgar told them to keep it a secret too. This is to protect Kain since he was still going undercover as a member of the Gray in the Mages Council. If Kain was killed, his Second Soul will die as well, and vice versa. Etgar gave Kain some Blood Magical Equipment that could help him keep his [Shapeshifting] spell active for up to a year without touching a single drop of his mana pool.

“I don’t have one.” Kain rudely answered. Kain remembered that he saved Nanya and didn’t want to be rude to her. However, because Kain doesn’t know how to act like a girl, it was better to upset Nanya so she wouldn’t talk to him anymore. Kain didn’t want to transform into a girl but Master Whistler made him do it. There must be a reason for it but Kain just doesn’t know what it is at this time.

“Little sis, my name is Nanya Dawnfowl. I am a level 20 Blood Wind Mage. What about you?”

“None of your business.” Kain jumped onto the bed and attempted to go to sleep.

“Hey! You have to take a shower first. Let me ask the waiter to prepare hot water.”

“I’m not dirty.”

“I’m not saying that you are. We have been traveling at sea for four days. It’s better to take a hot shower because it would help us sleep easier.”

“Okay, whatever. I don’t need a shower. Good night.”
