Chapter 782 - Open Meeting

Fortunately, just as Lisa got out of her car, Oscar's cell phone rang quite loudly. Because his cell phone is connected to the screen located on the dashboard of his car, the man doesn't have to bother to take out his cellphone that he keeps in his pocket.

Oscar then pressed the green button on the screen and greeted the other person. "Hey, boss?"

Yesterday afternoon, the three of them— Oscar, Dani, and also Bryan— had a discussion via video call that lasted until evening. Oscar and Dani were in the man's study, while Bryan was somewhere nobody could probably find. But if Oscar's guess was correct, that man must be in his research room.

Dani told Bryan their suspicions about Michael's relationship with the White House. From the past until now, Bryan is the smartest person and has the most connections with important figures among the three of them. So if Oscar needed important information quickly, they would call and ask Bryan for help.

Bryan was rarely involved with issues like this. He mostly helped when one of them was injured. Just like when Oscar was kidnapped, exposed to drugs, or when he had an accident with Dani.

But that doesn't mean Bryan won't lend his hand when Oscar and Dani need his help. Because according to him, they are both more important, far more important than his research.

"Hey, how many times have I told you not to call me that?" Bryan's voice on the other end of the line sounded tired when he muttered, "Just call me by my name."

Although Oscar was feeling a little nervous, hearing Bryan's protest made the corners of his lips pull up. "Sorry. Any updates?"

"Not yet," Bryan replied after a long sigh. "Lately, there has been no movement from the White House. I have sent several trusted people to monitor the movements. But it seems that there's nothing I can report for now."

Hearing Bryan's reply made Oscar sigh. "Fine then. If there's anything, please tell me immediately."

No matter how strong Bryan's connection is or how smart Dani is at hacking computers, that doesn't mean they can easily access the White House.

The headquarters, which is full of mafias, has tight security and is not easily accessible to anyone. Oscar knew the atmosphere in the White House because he had been kidnapped and locked there before. If he had never been kidnapped, perhaps he would never have known about the atmosphere in that place.

For the next few moments, there was no conversation between them. At first, Oscar thought that Bryan had disconnected their phone, but when he heard the sound of typing on the computer keyboard, he was sure that Bryan still hadn't hung up.

"Ah, right," Bryan began again, "I heard your company is holding a shareholders' meeting today. Do you think the White House and your uncle have something to do with the sudden meeting?"

The reason why Oscar wanted to hurry to the office today was that he received word from Dani that the Petersson Communications company had to hold an open meeting. Oscar didn't even know who held the meeting. They suddenly received an open invitation to hold a meeting with the company's shareholders.

Even now, Oscar still doesn't know who came up with the idea of holding a shareholders' meeting. He began to think about the small possibilities, such as who might want to snatch the company he was holding, and in the end, all the dots he connected led to one figure— Michael.

Who else wants that company besides Michael? Petersson Communication is a hereditary company that eventually got passed to Oscar. He knew that the company should have gone to Michael first, then to him. But his Grandpa and Grandma had a great favor for Peter as well as himself so they preferred Oscar to continue to lead the company over Michael.

"I'm still not too sure either," Oscar replied as he pressed the button. "I still have to find out first. Later if I find out something, I will contact you again."

Bryan was sitting in his study while looking at the large window, massaging his temples frustratingly. Last night, he couldn't sleep at all after hearing the news from Oscar and Dani. While accompanied by two cups of black coffee, the man's eyes continued to focus on the computer screen that gave off a fairly bright light.

Maybe that's why Bryan's eyes looked sluggish right now. Even though he was wearing glasses, he couldn't see clearly like usual.

"What will you do now?" Brian asked again.

Oscar cleared his throat, "What will I do? Go to the meeting and get the information I need. After that, I will tell you."

"Alright, alright. I trust the path you will take, Oscar." Bryan replied as he adjusted his glasses, "I'll be keeping a close eye on the White House, and if I see any movement I'll let you know."

"Thank you for always helping me."

Hearing that made Bryan chuckle softly, "Why are you suddenly being so formal? I should be the one thanking you for trusting me to find out about the White House. I'm flattered!"

"If not you, who else can I ask for help?" Oscar replied. He could already see his office building from a distance, "I'll call you again later."

Without waiting for Bryan's reply, Oscar had already hung up on their call.

Arriving at the office earlier, Lisa was already busy with her piled up work. If  she hadn't fallen asleep, maybe all the work she left behind would've been done! With a heavy breath and lazy feeling, Lisa walked over to her desk.

Before she had time to finish her work that should have been done yesterday, Lisa had to check the summary of the work done by the employees working under her.

At the same time, when her eyes were already hot and her head starting to feel dizzy, she heard the ringing tone of her cell phone. She could see out of the corner of her eye that it was just a notification from her device.

Usually, Lisa would have ignored the notification and continued her work. But somehow, something inside her seemed to force her to open it. Lisa took her cell phone, unlocked it, and waited for the news page to load.

The news turned out to be financial news containing an open meeting of shareholders of the Petersson Communication company.

"What?!" Lisa whispered in disbelief.
