Chapter 710 - Where Have You Been?

"Thank you, sir!"

When Lisa got out of the taxi, the woman saw Oscar's car neatly parked in the garage. Suddenly, her footsteps stopped and she immediately remembered the incident, or the problem that she caused earlier this morning.

Perhaps since she was too confused to find a birthday present for William, she forgot about her fear this afternoon.

Earlier today, Lisa had completely humiliated Oscar in front of Chloe. And now she didn't know how Oscar felt or what he wanted to do to her. To be honest, Lisa was scared to enter the house and meet him right now, but that woman had no other choice!

If she didn't return to Oscar's house, where else would she rest?

Besides, Lisa still kept some of Oscar's half-nude photos that she could use as collateral. If the man misbehaved, she could immediately spill them on social media!

Oscar was a famous and important figure in the business world, it's no wonder that he was also famous among women. Lisa believed that the man would definitely do everything just so she wouldn't spread his shameful pictures to the world.

Having that thought made Lisa nod her head steadily and walk into the house. Before she could open the door of the house, she saw the doorknob move from inside. Not long after, Mrs. Rusminah came out, showing herself with a friendly smile.

"Welcome, Miss Lisa. Mr. Oscar has been waiting for you in the living room." The middle-aged woman greeted while pointing towards the living room with her eyes.

Lisa followed her gaze and saw Oscar sitting on the sofa reading the newspaper. Deep in her heart, she hoped that the man wouldn't bring up the matter this morning.

At first, Oscar was reading about a child kidnapping case that occurred in a small town. The man was so engrossed in reading the news that he didn't notice that Lisa was walking towards him. When he heard the clatter of high heels, he just looked up.

"What are you reading so seriously?" Lisa teased as she put her tote bag on the living room's table.

From the outside, she did look relaxed and didn't feel anxious about the man's presence. But actually, her heart was beating so fast that she was sure the whole house could hear it.

"It's rare to see you come home from work this early." Lisa continued, pretending like nothing happened this morning. She sat on the sofa, near Oscar but not so close that the man couldn't hear her heartbeat. She lowered her head and took off her high heels with slightly trembling hands.

The corners of Oscar's lips pulled up when he saw Lisa's cheesy acting. The man was sure that if his girlfriend acted in a film, the rating would drop drastically. Never mind getting an award from a film event, people won't even bat an eye to watch it!

But before Lisa could see his grin, Oscar quickly changed his expression. The man lowered his feet and closed the newspaper he had been reading.

"Just got home from work?" Oscar asked coldly without changing his facial expression.

Lisa nodded her head slowly while taking turns taking off the high heels on the other foot. Until now, she still couldn't calm her beating heart.

Hearing that made Oscar look at the watch still wrapped around his wrist. The jewels that adorn the watch sparkle under the lights. "Didn't you come home from work at 4 pm? It's already 7pm."

What Oscar was trying to say was, Lisa usually came home from work at 4pm. After that, it might take her about 10 minutes to stop a taxi or wait for the online taxi she usually ordered. At least Lisa would be home around 5 or half past six in the afternoon.

Where had that woman been this afternoon?

Did Lisa just come back from a trip with her friends?

But which friend?

Lisa straightened her back and looked at Oscar after a long time avoiding the man's cold gaze. Unknowingly, she bit her lower lip and couldn't sit still. Looking at Oscar with such a cold gaze made her feel like she was being cornered by several wolves at once.

After being silent for a while, Lisa coughed a little, and finally answered, "A-after I got home from work, I went for a walk."

"Where were you going?" Oscar asked as he took off his watch. He only glanced at Lisa and then kept the watch on his wrist.

Hearing the various questions that came out of his sensual lips made Lisa feel like she was being interrogated. She felt like a fugitive who managed to escape but was caught and would be imprisoned for the rest of her life.

"Tulip Garden Mall." Lisa replied.

Oscar frowned, before he could ask why Lisa went to that big Mall, the woman continued, "I was there to look for a birthday present… For William."

After hearing Lisa's reply, the man's forehead didn't wrinkle anymore and Lisa could hear a soft sigh. Oscar picked up his cell phone that was lying on the table and called someone.

"You don't need to look for Lisa's whereabouts now. She's already with me." Oscar said no less coldly than before. Then, without saying anything else, the man hung up the phone.

Even though he didn't tell the context or who he was conversing with just now, Lisa wasn't a stupid woman. She already understood what the man meant.

As Oscar had done before, the man must have told Dani or maybe another subordinate to find her.

Realization suddenly hit her hard. Did she forget to turn off the silent mode on her cell phone again? This morning, she did have a meeting and was immediately busy with her mountain of work, so she seemed to have forgotten about it.

Having such thoughts made Lisa quickly take her cell phone out of her tote bag. Instead of seeing hundreds of missed call notifications or the man's message filled with questions, she just found out that her phone was off!

'Don't tell me my battery ran out and I didn't even notice it! Oh no, did I make him panic again?!!' She whispered in her heart.

Now Lisa really just wants to hide herself in some secluded place and cry without shedding a tear! Why was she being so careless and not paying attention to her cell phone's battery!?

She still clearly remembered her agreement with Oscar to always pick up the man's incoming calls. Or at least told him where she would go1

But now, she actually broke her promise!
