Chapter 708 - Birthday Gift

Time goes by so fast, it's suddenly 5 pm. At first, she really thought about staying at Vira's apartment for a while, but it turns out that the woman has a business trip outside the city. Lisa doesn't have the double keys to her apartment either, so she can't enter anytime she wants.

Well, if this is the case then it's clear that she can't sleep in Vira's apartment for today. Like it or not, she had to go back to Oscar's house. But anyways, if the man is planning to do something to her, she will just threaten him with his half-naked photos.

The woman went down using the elevator excitedly. After struggling behind the table, finally Lisa could go home and lay down on her bed.

After getting into a taxi that afternoon, Lisa just remembered that it's approaching William's birthday. And this is his first birthday after she met and became close to the boy.

Lisa never celebrated her son's birthday ever since William was born until now. Back then, she didn't even know that she actually had a son, so she couldn't even congratulate him. Now, at this very second, Lisa vowed never to miss William's birthday again.

For William's first— or fifth—birthday gift, Lisa wanted to prepare everything the best for him. She wanted to give him a valuable gift. Having such thoughts made the woman look up and say, "Sir, please take me to Taman Tulip Mall."

"Yes ma'am." The driver replied, looking in the rearview mirror. The man immediately took the rightmost lane and turned around.

Twenty minutes later, the blue taxi stopped at the entrance to Taman Tulip Mall. The mall is one of the biggest malls in Jakarta. It is located in the western part of the city and is usually visited by local residents on Sunday nights.

When Andien was still here and not married, they would spend their time here every sunday night. Whether it's just strolling around or window shopping, at that time, they were still ordinary besties who always had a penny to spend but not save.

Lisa still clearly remembered their dream at that time. In the past, once they became successful with a secured life, Lisa and Andien planned to come to this mall and buy the beautiful clothes displayed on the shop window. They would no longer need to pay attention to the price tag or how much it would cost them.

That afternoon, Lisa walked down the big and majestic Mall alone. Most visitors came in groups. There are two, three, or even a bunch of noisy teenagers. And since she came by herself, Lisa felt somewhat lonely.

Again, when she passed one of Andien's favorite shops, it suddenly reminded her of her best friend.

Lisa herself didn't know how long it had been that she was no longer in touch with Andien.

Before this, she still tried to call the woman's number, but it was not Andien who received the call. Then Lisa tried to send her a short message, and yet the message had not been replied to until now.

Remembering that one friend made Lisa's heart feel uncomfortable.

Of course she knew Andien so well that if anything happened to the woman, she would definitely contact her. At least that's what Andien usually did in the past. But until now, Lisa had not received any news from Andien.

As Lisa recalled, Andien had been married to the foreign man for about 1 year.

Actually, she felt something strange since she last met Andien after the woman got married. The woman's eyesight was blurry and her smile felt fake. But at that time, Lisa didn't think too much about it and felt that Andien was old enough to handle it on her own.

After all, if something happened, Andien would tell her.

But apparently, since Andien married that man, she never had the initiative to contact her first. In fact, every time Lisa tried to contact her, Andien's cell phone would always be out of range, and that her incoming calls were never picked up.

As Andien's close friend, it was certain that Lisa felt something was wrong with the woman. Indeed, Andien had told her not to worry about her at that time. But how could Lisa not be worried when she suddenly distanced herself from her and looked somewhat unhappy?

As she walked, Lisa's thoughts wandered all over the place until she didn't realize that she was standing in front of the toy store entrance. Inside the toy shop, Lisa saw a couple of parents and their child busy choosing toys. Some sat on the small sofa provided while trying the toys they wanted to buy, some others cried because they weren't allowed to buy the toys they wanted.

Seeing such things made Lisa miss William even more. If William hadn't gone to boarding school, it was certain that she would definitely take the boy to this toy shop. In her mind, she could picture William's laughter as he chose his own toy for his birthday gift.

Lisa stepped further into the store and started to walk around. It turns out that the girl and boy toys are separated. On the left, the girls' toys are greatly dominated by bright pink color, which sometimes made Lisa feel it could hurt her eyes. While on the right, the boys' toys also looked no less festive.

Bumblebee, Iron Man, Superman, and many others.

Lisa looked at the boys toys on display and thought that she had seen them in William's room. Oscar must have brought William here and as that boy couldn't help himself, he must've ended up buying almost every available toy.

When Lisa saw some toys she had never seen in William's room, the woman tried to get up the courage to look at the prices listed. And sure enough, her eyes widened to the point of almost falling when she saw them!

If she had bought William here, she was sure that her salary would run out in a matter of seconds! She was afraid she wouldn't be able to do her monthly shopping like she used to.

"Damn…" Lisa whispered in disbelief, "If that boy were here, my savings would definitely run out today...."
