Chapter 54

The small family was having breakfast when Yang Chen suddenly asked.

"Hey, how about we take a vacation?"

Ruoxi eyes started to shine and asked hurriedly, "Where to, hubby?"

"Japan."

Ruoxi nearly squealed. In her 3 years of being a CEO, she hasn't had the proper time to enjoy the places she had business trips on. It was always work for her and nothing else, but now with having a family she can now truly enjoy these places with the ones she cares deeply about.

"When will we be going, Young Master?" Wang Ma asked. She was also quite excited about the trip.

"In a few days." Yang Chen also added, "I invited Rose and she will also be coming with us."

Ruoxi had no problem with this. She and Rose can be considered friends now so it'll be more fun when checking out the wonderful attractions.

"Where in Japan will we be going, hubby?" Ruoxi asked.

Yang Chen thought for a second before saying, "I was thinking Kyoto."

Ruoxi became more excited and hurriedly nodded to that place.

Yang Chen chuckled and decided that will be their vacation trip.

Yang Chen then quickly finished his breakfast and headed to the couch to watch TV.

Yang Chen smiled and put his arm over her and the atmosphere became peaceful for the two.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang and Wang Ma went to go answer the door since she didn't want to disturb their peaceful atmosphere.

Wang Ma opened the door and saw a beautiful black-haired woman. She then figured out; this must be Rose since Ruoxi had already informed her that she would be coming over.

Wang Ma revealed a gentle smile and greeted her.

"Hello, beautiful Miss. The Young Miss is in the living room. Please come in."

Rose smiled and followed her inside the house. She then saw Ruoxi snuggled up against Yang Chen on the couch.

Rose didn't know why, but this didn't bother her. Especially when she saw how relaxed Yang Chen looked when he was sitting next to Ruoxi.

Ruoxi saw Rose and became slightly surprised. She must've forgotten she was coming over when she was spending her time with her man.

Ruoxi quickly got off from Yang Chen and greeted Rose.

"Hello. Sorry for not greeting you properly." Ruoxi said a little awkwardly.

Rose shook her head and smiled, "It's okay. You were just caught up with the moment. It happens."

Yang Chen got up from the couch and hugged Rose. He wasn't going to ignore her even if he was with Ruoxi. That would make him sc.u.m and Ruoxi needed to see this if she was truly serious about their relationship.

Rose returned the hug and gave Yang Chen a kiss on the cheek. She didn't want to hurt Ruoxi feeling's by doing something really intimate. Things needed time for her to get used to this.

Ruoxi didn't interrupt them. She had already steeled her heart for this moment. And surprisingly...it didn't hurt as much as she had anticipated it to be.

Although this was her man being close to another woman, she knew Rose wasn't a terrible person after getting to know her. There is also the fact that; Rose was the first person to be in a relationship with Yang Chen so it was practically Ruoxi that barged into theirs even if they were technically married.

But it was all by contract with no feelings attached at the time so she had no right to separate them. Especially since she loved Yang Chen and didn't want to be torn apart from him.

Ruoxi could also tell Rose was restraining herself when hugging him. She became happy for her consideration.

Rose separated from Yang Chen and turned toward Ruoxi.

"Ready to go to the orphanage?" Rose asked nervously. She didn't know how to act toward kids since she was an only child growing up.

"Bye, hubby."

Yang Chen smiled and also pecked Rose on the lips.

"Bye, Ruoxi. Bye, Rose."

"Bye, hubby." Rose said happily.

Ruoxi and Rose had made it to New Hope Orphanage. It was quite an old place but it was remodeled after the donations that it got from some successful partners. Ruoxi had, of course, donated generously to this place since she loved taking care of the children here.

Now the children were well fed, had warm beds to sleep on, and even their own playground so they can have fun. All thanks to Ruoxi constant investments. She didn't care about the money, she just wanted to see the children happy.

Ruoxi was still in the car and Rose had a nervous expression on her face.

"H-How about we go? We could come back another time." Rose said anxiously.

Ruoxi shook her head firmly, "Absolutely not. You promised to come with me here so let's head inside."

Rose was still unwilling and Ruoxi literally had to drag her out of the car.

Rose finally gave in and let herself be dragged inside with a panicked face.

Once Ruoxi entered the building, she can see kids sitting cross-legged while a beautiful young woman read to them.

The children upon seeing Ruoxi enter; became more jolly.

"It's big sis Ruoxi!" Shouted a girl with bright eyes.

Many kids got up and rushed toward Ruoxi while some stayed seated as they were captivated by the storytelling.

Ruoxi gave a bright smile and hugged them all.

"Big sis Ruoxi, did you bring us presents?" A boy asked that made all the other kid's ears perk up.

Ruoxi smirked, "Of course!"

They all looked confused toward Rose.

Rose had an awkward expression on her face and lifted her hand into a wave.

"H-Hello." Rose said awkwardly.

The kids didn't respond and kept staring at her, making Rose want to dig a hole and hide inside it.

Suddenly there was a little girl that walked up to her and gently gripped her dress in order to get her attention.

"Big sis, you're really pretty." The little girl said with big eyes.

Rose felt saved by this cute little girl.

Ruoxi smiled and chimed in.

"Her name is Rose and guess what, she also brought many presents."

Rose gave Ruoxi a warm smile and turned to the kids and started answering their curious questions.

"Big sis, how do you know big sis Ruoxi?"

"Big sis, can you help me tie my shoes?"

"Big sis, is water wet?"

Rose was answering all their questions and sweatdropped at the last one but still answered it.

Ruoxi giggled before she noticed someone was right next to her.

It was the caretaker that handled all the affairs in this orphanage. She was called President Cha.

President Cha was a middle-aged woman and was wearing a grey apron.

"Ruoxi, it's been a while since you last visited." President Cha said warmly.

Ruoxi smiled gently and hugged her. They both then separated and Ruoxi looked over to the young pretty woman that was sitting on a stool and was reading to the children just a moment ago.

President Cha smiled and said over to the pretty woman.

"Jingjing, come and let me introduce you both."

It was Li Jingjing who was reading to the children. She then smiled shyly before walking toward them.

"Hello, I'm Li Jingjing, you can just call me Jingjing."

Ruoxi smiled and introduced herself.

"I'm Ruoxi. Thank you for reading to the children."

Jingjing slightly blushed at her praise and said quickly, "N-No need to thank me, I like coming here and reading to them. It's fun."

Ruoxi was starting to like this girl's character more.

Ruoxi then brightly smiled, "It is, isn't it?"

Jingjing nodded with a happy smile and they both started talking more about what they liked about the orphanage.

After a couple of minutes of talking, President Cha looked over to Rose, who looked tired from answering the children's question and said.

"Alright children, time to eat!"

The children became joyful and quickly ran toward the sink to wash their hands before heading to the dining table.

Rose gave a grateful look toward President Cha before heading toward Ruoxi.

"Rose, meet Jingjing!" Ruoxi quickly introduced them.

Rose smiled and greeted her and Jingjing did the same.

"We should get the presents out of the trunk." Rose said toward Ruoxi.

Before they had come here, they had stopped by the store to buy the children some stuff that they would like.

Ruoxi nodded and was going to go to her car when Jingjing quickly said.

"I'll help!"

Ruoxi smiled, "Thanks."

Just as the three were about to exit, something caught Ruoxi's attention.

"Ruoxi, what's wrong?" Rose asked curiously.

Ruoxi shook her head, "You girls head first, I'll catch up with you in a bit."

Rose didn't think anything of it and nodded before she and Jingjing headed to the car to get the presents out of the trunk.

Ruoxi then looked toward the entrance of the playground.

There was something that made her stop her tracks. It was a little girl on swings. She was rocking at a slow pace as the girl kept looking back at Ruoxi.

This little girl looked to be three to four years of age. She was wearing a blue one-piece dress with her chubby legs exposed. She also had black hair and had it in the style of twin tails.

The playground had a back gate for the kids since they had a school in the area and some other children would show up to play with one another on occasion.

This little girl blankly stared at Ruoxi while the movements had come to a stop on the swing. Her silhouette gave off a lonely feeling as she was the only one on the playground.

Ruoxi was about to go talk to her and ask her why she was here alone until an elegant woman came in through the gate and held her hand.

The elegant woman, who seemed to be her caretaker, looked over to Ruoxi and bowed before taking the child away.

Even when the little girl was being pulled away, she still kept staring at Ruoxi.

Suddenly, President Cha came toward Ruoxi and asked.

"Ruoxi, is something wrong?"

Ruoxi asked while still looking at the direction the little girl was just taken off to.

"Do you know, who that little girl was?"

President Cha shook her and said, "I saw her once but just as she came to the playground; that woman had already taken her away. Maybe she goes to school around here but I still don't know."

Ruoxi was in thought before Rose and Jingjing had come back with the presents.

Ruoxi gave an apologetic smile, "Sorry for the hold-up, I'll go get the rest."

"It's no big deal." Rose said, not bothered.

Ruoxi then went to go get the rest of the presents from the car.

(AN: Was going to have Yang Chen's mother appear in this chap but it wouldn't make much sense. She should be taking care of the useless son so she wouldn't have time to come to the orphanage. So I decided against it. Also, who was the girl on the swings, any guesses? ????)
