Chapter 2 – [Part 1]

He came in without a word and said, “Tell me.”

“…….What?”

Yvonne, who had her long platinum white hair untied and was wearing a negligee, sat embarrassed on the bed and looked up at Karloi.

“You said you’d talk to me, right? So, tell me what you have in mind.”

“Ah……Your Majesty, that was just…..”

“Are you aware of how I feel towards the Duke?”

That was an ambiguous question. Karloi’s face was calm and so was his voice, but nevertheless, it felt as though he felt angry towards her.

Yvonne gazed at the man, who had become her husband, for a long time, whereas Karloi looked patiently at her eyes, waiting for an answer.

“……I’m aware.”

Only after a while did the answer come out from Yvonne’s lips. She said it in a lower voice than she had thought.

Karloi smiled unconsciously at her answer as he thought it was funny.

“You’re aware? Are you saying that you know I despise the Duke so much that if I can, I would get rid of all the people who have Delois as their last name in the Empire?”

It was a rather intense conversation between the newlyweds on their first night. Usually, newlyweds would have had a different kind of intense conversation.

TL/N: What different kind of intense?

But Yvonne answered calmly, seemingly indifferent.

“Can you do it?”

“What?”

“I asked Your Majesty if you can get rid of the Delois household as you please?”

Unlike her weak-looking appearance, her voice was dry without any emotion.

At the seemingly disparaging question asked in a clerical manner, Karloi laughed in dismay.

Yvonne looked indifferently at Karloi, who seemed as though he was filled with anger.

“If you can’t, it wouldn’t be too bad to have a child with me. At least, my father will be satisfied.”

Her words meant that if he couldn’t get rid of the Duke, he should just shut up and accept their marriage.

TL/N: OH, OH, OH-

Karloi, who felt insulted, gritted his teeth. Yvonne stroked her hair as if she didn’t care a bit and continued her words with a look telling him to face reality.

“I’m not so foolish to come here hoping for love from Your Majesty. Even if we’re not children, it’s okay to pretend to be on good terms. If it benefits Your Majesty, you should do it.”

Karloi understood her words. If he marries the Duke’s daughter and takes her son as his successor, the Duke’s ambitions will be put to an end.

That crazy old man, who was eager to become the Emperor, would perhaps be satisfied if his grandson becomes the Emperor instead.

But it wasn’t acceptable. The Duke killed half of Karloi’s family.

He even tried to kill himself. I didn’t want to listen to what that madman wanted.

Even if the Empire becomes destroyed, that old man’s blood could not be put on the throne at any cost.

“You look weak, but in reality, you’re so cocky.”

“It’s also for your sake.”

“Let me give the Empress a word of advice. This is not the territory of the Duke, where you used to live. You’ll have to be prepared to lose your neck if you get caught doing something stupid.”

At his sudden threat, his anger was evident. Karloi said each word with emphasis and turned away from the Empress.

“Your Majesty.”

Yvonne called him quietly, but he didn’t turn around.

“I have now received the last name of Croisen. I’m not a Delois anymore.”

Earlier, he said he wanted to get rid of all those who had the last name of Delois. Upon hearing her words, Karloi just snorted.

“Alright, let me say it once again. I want to kill each and every one of those who have the Delois’ blood running in their veins.”

At his words, Yvonne no longer stopped him.

Yes, no matter how much she tries, she wouldn’t be able to deny the fact that she had the blood of that disgusting noble. At that thought, Karloi barely managed to hold back the sneer that was about to come out of his mouth.

“You could be the Empress of this country, but that would be the end.”

Those were the last words Karloi said to Yvonne on the first night of their wedding. And it became true.

***

The Empress has already been excluded from all the imperial affairs shortly after their marriage.

Aside from the fact that it was difficult for her to see the face of the Emperor, she was not able to preside over any of her imperial duties. All she could do was bring along 100 employees from her own family.

However, as if she found it fun to play with her own people in the palace, the Empress never once went out and continued her daily life carelessly and at ease.

Such an attitude of the Empress was simply described by people as ‘a well-fed person and well-lived life’.

As if the handmaidens of the Empress didn’t care at all that Yvonne Delois was an Empress who acted so arrogantly, they walked around with their head up high with all their heart and soul, too.

For those reasons, it provoked Karloi Croisen even more.

Which, in turn, made it unbearable for him to even look at the Empress’ face for more than 5 seconds.

TL/N: I apologize as it was very short. Part 2 will be posted this week too!
