139 Serigan Party - Pt. 3

Cole observed the party that had made quite the entrance. Dressed in military gear from head to toe with nothing that made them stand out from each other.

It was either a precautionary measure to hide their identities or they just ran out of budget to go so.

But he didn't actually have the best moment to think about such things.

Nearly immediately after they landed with heaps of debris following in after them, they set their guns blazing all throughout the hall.

*KLING*

*KLANG"

The sound of bullets ricocheting hit the ears of the everyone present. Guests that hadn't made their way out screamed and ducked in hopes of not being hit. But strangely, it didn't last long. And what's more, not a single person was even slightly grazed because of the fire. Rather, they had all made their way into one person's hand.

"That hurt my ears a bit. Feli, next time you deal with it."

"Eh??? But why?"

"It's because it'd be easier for you."

Seeing their unguarded state, the men propped up their rifles once more but quickly stopped themselves.

*TING*

*TING*

*TING*

*TING*

Replacing it was the sound of bullets dropping to the floor one by one until it had all piled up into one giant of brass. Cole patted off any dirt that may have made its way into his gloves.

"Is that it?"

Cole asked. His face looked a bit bored but at the same time, it was as if you could see a mocking expression on his visage. You couldn't see the assailants face behind their headgear, but there was no doubt that their eyes were filled with shock, surprise and...

Fear.

"Is security not here yet?"

"You know it's only been some seconds, right?"

"Fair point, but Cole, doesn't that mean they're pretty useless?"

"Or they've been incapacitated."

The casual tone of their conversation gave the assailants some time to think up their next course of action. If using bullet wouldn't work, then might as well go where it's close and personal.

*WOOSH*

She opened up a small portal and had the person's hand injure a very precious region for one of their teammates.

"Oof... I'm glad I didn't let that hit my face, who knows what kind of damage it may have done!"

"But Feli, as long as you have enough energy you can regenerate? I tested so on myself so I know."

"Wait, how? Isn't that pretty dangerous? Self-harm isn't good Cole! ...And that may be the case but all the food I eat goes to my missiles and rockets!"

Felicia seemed to take some pride in that fact. Was it because this meant she could never get fat unless she ate like a giant? Cole just ignored the comment as something important popped up.

❲Cole, they're underground.❳

"Ah, found them."

"Who?"

Felicia asked as she let the failure of a team beat themselves up.

"The real team."

Cole didn't believe for one second that the people they were fighting right now was all there was. First off, they were needlessly flashy, especially so with that entrance. It was more likely that they were here to serve as some kind of distraction. And the fact that no one had come in yet probably means they had done something to the people outside.

This point was proven even further when you witnessed how easily their teamwork fell.

As for the possibility of mass panic, the twins would probably be able to do something about it and it'll be avoided.

Well, it was best to end the distraction team already. Cole tied them altogether with the metal wires hidden inside his clothes.

'Thank you very much, Steward.'

❲Your gratitude is very much appreciated~!❳

'Now back to memories.'

❲...❳

Steward sullenly went back to work while Cole took a few things from the assailants and pocketed them in case they would be useful. Including their radio, one of their rifles and a few more magazines in case.

"I'll be going ahead. Feli, can you keep these guys somewhere in your〈Inventory〉?"

"Never tried putting people but there's a first for everything!"

Although that remark made Cole worry a bit, if it didn't work there was his wires to bind them. He made sure to make it extra tight and to increase the strength on their hands slightly.

Cole started running towards the direction of the other team of hostiles. As he ran, he couldn't help but wonder what was the motive of the group? What was their aim? The first day of the party were mostly political figures and entertainment stars. The people in the〈Times Zone〉that were like real-life superheroes never appeared on the first day.

The party usually lasted for three days and the first day was usually only ever for interaction. But the figures that mainly interacted on the first day gave Cole a few ideas but he couldn't be completely sure.

Well, he would be getting his answers soon. His footsteps slowed down as he approached a room located a bit of a ways off from the main hall.

He opened the door, revealing a room that looked to be quite the classy and posh waiting room. Cole walked closer to the bookcase lining the walls and looked for the one that had a gap behind it.

"Ah, there it is."

He pulled it to the right, showing off the door and a handle that was used to crank it open.

"..."

Cole didn't have the time to waste on cranking that handle around. Instead he winded the handle slightly, allowing a slim enough gap for his hands to pass through and pushed the metal door all the way to the top.

Behind it was a flight of stone stairs that went so deep that the weak lights illuminating it had no chance of penetrating its darkness.

From this point onwards, Cole would have to go in blind. He only knew of the bookcase from investigating the place beforehand and contacting Mikhail and Igor.

Unfortunately, he didn't have enough time to check out the entire hall in depth, if so, he probably would've been able to set up a few countermeasures against the enemy. He could only blame himself for not doing it fast enough.

But there was no point in doing so, he headed down the flight of stairs, rifle in hand.

It felt like it took for an eternity for him to reach the bottom, but once he did, it felt as if everything had become clear.

"...So, that's what this is all about."
