Chapter 9 - 9: Training (2)

Before Reif can react, his hand already releases a blue stream of energy. Out of panic, he pointed his hand at the nearby trees

When Rhash said that Reif has a great talent it wasn't an exaggeration at all. When Reif grew up, he was adept at a lot of powerful and strong magic. The amount of mana he has is not even something that normal people can compare to

Despite Reif's body still far from being matured, he already owned a huge amount of mana

The blue stream of energy his palm releases engulfed and knocked several trees in a row causing a loud sound to spread and some birds fly away. This was just pure mana that he uses. What more if he gives them attributes?

If other kids have this much mana, they might be delighted. However, knocking several trees just makes Reif feel fear

His whole body shakes and soon, his knees gave out causing him to fall on the ground while his eyes stared at the destruction he had brought

A monster .... he really is a monster. He just wants to cover his hand with mana yet he already destroyed several innocent trees

It can't be helped. Reif might have the talent but he is still a young kid. The more mana a person has, the harder it is for them to control it

Reif's current mana is already more than what most adults have. It was not surprising that he can't control his mana skillfully at his first time

But this scene dampens his confidence. What if he continues training and really destroys everything around him just like what other people say?

Just why does he needs to be born a monster? Reif never asked for this!

Reif can feel strength losing his body because of the negative thoughts in his mind. Maybe he really shouldn't have gone out. He should just stay in his little shelter until the day he dies

However, before Reif can be fully swallowed by his negative thoughts, the sounds of hands clapping together entered his ears

When Reif looks at the clap's source, he saw Rhash looking at him with eyes filled with twinkling stars. The way his eyes were glowing brightly stupefied Reif

After seeing such a scene why is Rhash still looking at him with joy? Reif greatly wants to know the answer to that question

"Good! Very good! My Reif is really talented!" Rhash said happily and that was his honest thoughts

Reif simply releases mana from his body yet it already has enough power to destroy several trees at once. Even if an enemy tried to threaten Reif's life, the only thing he needs to do is to release his mana

The enemy would already be defeated by him even just with that. If Reif really does that then there would be a lesser number of people that can hurt him. That is exactly the thing that Rhash wants

Rhash doesn't want Reif or him to get hurt ever again. For that to be possible, they would need enough power

"Reif! Keep up the good work. You're doing well!" Rhash shouted with a genuine smile. With this kind of talented kid with him, he felt like the future would be brighter and brighter

Reif repeatedly closed and opened his eyes. He just shows how much of a monster he is, why is Rhash saying that he's doing a good job?

Could Rhash only be saying those words so that he won't feel bad? But the smile on his Big Brother's face was too genuine for it to be only a show

Seeing Reif just sitting there dumbly causes Rhash to frown a bit

"What are you doing? Don't get cocky! You still need to continue training to the point that you can use the amount of power you want to use at will! Continue!"

With Rhash's words, Reif's body moved on its own. He stood up from the ground while looking at his Big Brother that was staring at him with eyes filled with encouragement

Somehow, Reif feels like this is currently the only thing he can do to make Rhash proud of him but his inner demons are still not that easy to suppress

"B-Big Brother... a-are you not afraid?" Reif asked while staring straight at Rhash

His face was filled with anticipation and nervous hope. Although Rhash was always warm at him, he is still afraid that his Big Brother would one day become afraid of him then leave him too just like other people

Rhash has an expression on his face that screams "what the fuck are you talking about?" But he still gave an honest answer

"Reif, don't worry about how strong your magic would be! The more destructive it is, the better! After all, to protect ourselves, we need strong power and that is currently what you are showing. Don't always worry about little things, okay? If there is something wrong, Big Brother will immediately say and solve it with you! " Rhash reassured

As always, he was the only one that can touch the strings inside Reif's heart. Since his Big Brother says it's okay then Reif will do his best

The little kid once again closes his eyes to feel the lively movement of mana inside him. He directed it to his palm causing yet another stream of bluish energy to swept the surrounding trees

"Reif, destructive power is good but you need to learn how to control your mana properly. Our first training mission is for you only cover your palm with mana!" Rhash coached from the tree branch

Although Reif was showing power, it was only basic and unrefined raw power. The book that Rhash stole states that magic control is also an important thing

For example, if a person has 10 units of mana and used it in its raw state then they will only have 10 units of power

But if the mage was skillful enough, 1 unit of mana can possibly do the same amount of damage as 10 units of mana can

In the fantasy novels and series back from the earth, mana control is always an important thing and Reif believes that the book is right

There were those people that became very powerful because they have expert-like control over their mana. If Reif with his overwhelming amount of mana became skillful at controlling it then his power would rise by another level

Rhash watched as Reif diligently tried to control just the right amount of power. He failed a lot of times, destroying the surrounding trees but his eyes were burning with determination

It was like he won't stop if he doesn't succeed in his mission. That gives Rhash the urge to work hard too

Currently, as a body that was specially made by a chimera mage, Rhash has even more mana than the current Reif

If he learned how to use it then that would be for the better. Even when Reif reaches his peak, Rhash still wants to be powerful enough to help him

Thus, Rhash also needs to work hard in his training

Rhash did the same thing that Reif does. He closes his eyes to feel the mana inside him

Reif has a terrifying chaos power residing in his body that makes him a monster in terms of human standards

As for Rhash, as a Vampire, his blood also contained special power. But maybe because his mind is more mature than the young Reif, he can control his power easier

Rhash feels as if he can control every drop of blood inside him. The first step into using magic was controlling mana. Rhash can already do that to an acceptable level

The second is the image. Mana can be converted into various things with the user's will

They can be turned into a burning fire, a raging tide of water, freezing ice, or sharp winds. The user is the one responsible for converting their mana into another form

But of course, that is easier said than done. Some people would find it hard to convert mana into their desired form

Of course, they can still succeed in training but magical skills vary from one person to another

Person A might be able to use magic every 5 seconds while Person B can do it every 2 seconds

Not to mention, there were 2 general kinds of magic. Instinctual and Acquired

Instinctual magic are those that people found themselves using even without learning it or without the proper guidance of a teacher

It also called a person's innate magic or talent. Some people would be able to use fire, water, wind, or even things like mind magic or summoning with just their instincts

That is their instinctual or innate talent. As for the acquired magic, those are the ones they would need to study and train hard to use

Most people have basic magical talents. Those are something that can be commonly seen used just like elemental magic

However, there were also special kinds of magic. There were necromancy, poison, armor magic

There were really not that many distinctions between Instinctual and Acquired magic. It's just that, the former can be used by even poor people while the latter needs guidance

Just because a person has an innate talent for fire magic doesn't mean that that is the type of magic they would be best at. When they try to acquire a new type of magic, they might find out that they were more skillful at it

Thus, the people in this world think that Instinctual Magic is just the world's way of helping the poor

The poor don't have anyone that can teach them magic. Thus, the world pities them and gave out Instinctual Magic so that they would have a chance to forge their path

There were only a few Instinctual/Innate Magic that is really special. Those special magic are the real blessings

Reif's Chaos Power is one of the Special Instinctual Magic although it was more like a curse than a blessing
