Chapter 351 - The Gate

Ebony and Anastasia were eating their meals for the night at the table in the kitchen.

After eating dinner, Anastasia washed the dirty dishes while Ebony climbed the stairs to rest in her room.

Inside her bedroom, Ebony locked the door.

She was thinking of her sister Menedelia. She hasn't visited the manor yet after Nini and Zero went home.

The night is still young, she might as well visit her sister in the forest. She was sure that Menedelia was now resting in her hut. She went to the closet and picked up her black cloak, and put it around her. She initiated the teleportation process in her mind.

A few minutes later..

Ebony arrived at Menedelia's fortress. She landed outside the door of the hut.

Rebecca, Menedelia, and Sitas were currently eating their meals at the kitchen table.

They heard knocking on the door.

The women looked at each other.

Menedelia stood up.

Frowning, Rebecca looked at Menedelia. "Granny, you have a visitor?"

Menedelia nodded her head. There is only one person other than Rebecca that she had given permission to enter her fortress, and that's no other than her sister.

She rose to her feet and went to the door. "Who's there?" she asked.

"Sister, it's me, Ebony!" the voice said.

Menedelia quickly opened the door. "Sis... come in!" she said.

Ebony was mind blown upon seeing her sister's face. "Oh, my! You finally get your old look back!" she exclaimed in happiness.

"Yes, the curse was finally lifted and my younger looking self is back!" Menedelia beamed.

"That's good! How did it happen?" Ebony asked curiously while removing the cloak from her body and putting it down on the chair.

"It's a long story, sis! Come to the kitchen, I have a surprise for you!" Menedelia told her sister.

The women went to the kitchen.

Ebony got the biggest shocker in her life when she saw the two women, Rebecca and her missing Grandma Sitas! She rushed to her grandma's side and began crying, tears of happiness flowed freely from her eyes, flooding her face in just a matter of seconds.

Rebecca stood up and stared at Ebony in shock. "H-how come you know this place? Did you bring C-Corbin with you?"

Ebony looked at Rebecca with tears in her eyes. "No. He doesn't know that you're here. You've been hiding in my sister's house for a long time?" she replied with a question. Then she hugged her grandmother again.

Menedelia's brows knitted together in confusion and asked, "W-wait... girls... you know each other?"

"Yes!" Both Ebony and Rebecca nodded their heads.

"But h-how come you know each other?" Menedelia asked in bewilderment.

"Because the owner of the manor that I'm working at is Lord Corbin, he was the one who bought Anastasia and me from the slave market. He was also the husband of Rebecca, the father of her unborn child," she said, looking at Rebecca's baby bump.

"Oh!" Menedelia gasped and then sighed heavily. "What a small world indeed!"

Rebecca caressed her baby bump while staring at Ebony's face.

"Lord Corbin has been travelling near and far to find his wife. Now I know the reason why he can't find her... because you're hiding Rebecca here!" Ebony accused her sister.

Menedelia sighed. "Sis, listen to me. Rebecca left her husband because she had her reason. It's my duty to protect my friend and my charge," she replied. "Besides, I didn't know that your master and Rebecca were a couple. How the hell I know? I never seen them together and there are many people who are named Corbin in this world. How am I supped to fit the puzzle together?" she said, trying to justify her reason.

Ebony sighed deeply. "Girls, can you leave me and grandmother for a moment? I just want to spend some time alone with her," she requested. She was bothered that her grandmother has no emotion when she saw her. Granny got that vacant look in her eyes and it bothered her terribly.

"Grandma Sitas have undergone trauma under the captivity of that witch!" Menedelia informed her sister and heaved a sigh. "Anyways, I have a long story to tell you. Just finished bonding with Grandma Sitas and after that we can talk... I'll explain everything to you," she said.

Ebony nodded her head. She watched her grandmother sadly, she was overwhelmed with emotion. So many things happened today! The transformation of her sister's face back to its original form, finding Grandma Sitas alive and lastly finding Rebecca in her sister's home. Everything hit her hard at the same time, it's making her emotional.

She hugged her long-lost beloved Grandmother in her arms lovingly. She will do anything and everything to restore her sanity to normal. She will nourish Grandma, and bring back her good health and restore her sound mind so that they can go back to where they are before.

Meanwhile...

Outside the hut.

Rebecca has to make a decision quickly. "Grandma, I can no longer stay here in your place. Sooner or later Ebony will bring Corbin here. I don't want you and your sister to fight because of me. I have to leave quickly!" she said.

Menedelia sighed. "Alright, let's go together. I will accompany you to the place where you want to go - so that I will know how to find you," she agreed to her decision. "So, where do you want to go, child?" she asked.

"Let me think for a moment..." Rebecca replied.

Silence engulfed the two women, both preoccupied with different thoughts running in their minds.

After a few minutes of deep thinking, Rebecca finally had a place to go in her mind. "Grandma, I will return to Graven!" she finally said.

"A-are you sure?" Menedelia asked.

"Yeah... he will welcome me with open arms anytime," Rebecca said confidently.

"Okay," Menedelia said, she agreed with her decision.

Rebecca rose to her feet. "I'll get my things first," she said.

Menedelia caught Rebecca's arms before she can enter the hut. "Don't worry about your things. I'll bring them to the headquarter later. Let's leave now before my sister can do something to stop you from leaving!" she said.

"Okay," Rebecca agreed. She understood Granny's decision to leave quickly, she just want to avoid clashing with her sister.

The women joined hands and initiated the teleportation in their minds.

A few minutes later.

They appeared in the headquarter.

Calder was sipping his coffee during that time, looking at the trees surrounding the headquarter, when suddenly the two women appeared in his vision. He was shocked to see Rebecca again after a long time of absence, he noticed her baby bump.

"Rebecca! Where have you been!?" Calder asked.

The two women went to Calder's side.

"Calder, where is Graven and Laura?" Rebecca asked.

Calder sighed and scratched his head. "Lord Graven is missing. We can't find him until..." he said sadly.

Rebecca's eyes widened. "But why-?" she asked, confused.

Calder sighed heavily. "It's a long story..."

"I want to see Laura. Can you take me to her location?" Rebecca said.

"Sure... Laura is hiding in a secluded place. I can bring you there. But I'm not sure if the spell formation that Grandpa Terros had put around the area will recognize you. But if not, then I can enter the place and inform Laura of you presence in the gate outside the manor," Calder replied.

"No problem, just take me there!" Rebecca said. "Where is Horace?"

"That's another problem we are facing right now," Calder answered.

Rebecca's brows furrowed. "What's going on?"

Calder sighed. "Lord Graven is missing along with Horace and Grandpa Terros. My men and I are still tracing their whereabouts up to this moment," he responded.

Rebecca bit her lip and took a deep breath. "Sad, I came at the wrong time..." she murmured dejectedly.

Calder saw the anxiety on Rebecca's face. "No, don't say that. You just return at the right time. Laura will surely welcome your company. I'll take you now to her place," he said.

"Thank you, Calder!" Rebecca said.

"And your companion-?" Calder asked, looking at the pretty woman standing beside Rebecca.

"Her name is Mednelia. Can I take her with me to Laura's place? She is my friend, she's been taking good care of my well being ever since my absence. I can trust her with my life," Rebecca explained.

"Alright, I trust you," Calder said. He extended his hand to the women. "Hold my hand, ladies! I'll take you to Laura's place," Calder said.

Rebecca and Menedelia grasped Calder's hand, then he closed his eyes, initiating the teleportation process in his mind.

A few minutes later.

They arrived at the manor where Laura's hiding place was located.

They stood at the gate and looked at the guard guarding the gate inside.

"Calder bro..." the guard acknowledge his presence.

Calder looked at the guard. "I bring Laura's friends with me..." he informed him.

"I see... just go on..." the guard said without doing anything.

Rebbeca was confused. "Why the guard is not opening the gate?" she asked curiously.

Calder smiled. "The guard don't have the power to open the gate, but the spell formation created by Grandpa Terros will open the gate for us. Let see if the gate will allow you girls to come inside..." he said.

Rebecca and Menedelia looked at each other.

"It's okay if the spell formation won't allow my entrance. I'll just stay here and wait for Rebecca," Menedelia said and looked at Rebecca. "This looks like a safe place for you to hide from your husband. I approved this place for you to stay and hide," she vocalized her opinion regarding the security of the place.

Calder looked at Rebecca. "Stood still and faced the gate, if the spell formation will open the gate, that means you are allowed to enter the manor. If not then you can't enter it no matter how hard you try unless Lady Laura will coomand the gate so that you can enter based on her permission," he explained.

"Okay," Rebecca spoke and faced the gate.

After a few minutes of waiting.

The gate miraculously opened.

Rebecca looked at Menedelia. "Your turned!" she said and entered inside the lawn. The gate closed automatically on its own.

Menedelia stood in front of the gate waiting for the spell formation to scan and accept her.

One minute passed.

Five minutes passed.

Ten minutes have passed.

Nothing happens, the gate refused to open up.

Calder shook his head and looked at Menedelia. "I'm sorry, my lady. The spell formation doesn't recognized you," he said apologetically.

Menedelia smiled. "It's okay, no need to apologize to me. I'll just wait here for Rebecca's return," she said.

"Okay, I'll leave you here then..." Calder said.

Menedelia nods her head. "Go on."

Calder stood in front of the gate, and the gate opened up right away, he went inside.

A few minutes later, he exited the gate.

Calder looked at Menedelia and smiled. "It's bad etiquette to leave the visitor alone outside the gate. I'll keep you company," he said.

"So nice of you. Thank you for your company," Menedelia replied with a smile.
