Chapter 13 - Don't Ever Try!

Laura was visibly shaken by what's going on with her life. Everything happened so fast, one after another, she was still reeling with the recent happenings, which was finding herself in this house and kissing a stranger in his bed.

Her head hurts thinking about what's going on!

Who is that guy? Why did she forget to ask his name?

She needs to clear her jumbled thoughts. She got up from the bed and went to the door.

Suddenly the door opened...

Sally entered the room holding several neatly folded woman's clothes in her hands. "Miss, I was instructed by the Lord to bring these clothes to you," she said.

Laura accepted the clothes. There were pink, floral red dress and black dresses with different designs as well as undergarments. She inspected the clothes, they were just her size, and their length reaching below her knees.

"I'll come back later to fetch you. The Lord instructed me to bring you to the flower garden just in case you will get bored here," Sally said.

"Okay, I'll take a bath first," Laura responded.

Sally exited the room and waited outside.

Laura picked up a clean towel from the closet and went to the bathroom bringing the red floral dress and clean undergarments with her.

She enjoyed the refreshing water while lathering her body with the soap, she recalled the guy's hot kisses. She blushed and feels guilty that she responded shamelessly to his kisses.

Sighing, she forced herself not to think of him. She stays in the bathroom for a few minutes more. After done bathing, she donned the clean undergarments and the red floral dress on her body. She wrapped the towel on her hair and exited the bathroom.

She began drying her hair with the towel. She found a clean comb in front of the mirror. She combs her hair while thinking of her dilemma.

Has she forgotten that she shouldn't leave her house at all? If she can't go back to her home in time, there will be a dire consequences waiting for her... for sure when the vampire returns and she's not there, they will kill her parents and her sister Sofia.

She released a deep sigh. Until now she has no idea why she comes to this place? She needs to ask the guy how he got her hands on the chest. And why he was calling her his bride? She will beg him to release her so that she can return to her house immediately or else her parents and sister's life are in danger!

After combing her hair, she let her wet hair cascade at her back. Time to see the servant and ask questions. She needs to have answers to her questions or else she will go crazy!

She exited the room and found the servant waiting for her outside the hallway.

"Follow me, Miss," the maid said.

They passed the hallway and saw several rooms along the way, then they went downstairs, landing in the parlor and exited the main door of the house.

Sally brought her under the shade of the tree with a table and two chairs.

Laura sat on the chair and was mesmerized by the view. "Wow!" In front of her are blossoming flowers in different varieties. The flowers were in full blooms, bright colors exploded in her eyes. The wonderful scenery brought a smile to her lips.

"I will go back to the house, Miss. I will bring you some fruit juice and biscuits," Sally said.

"Ah, no need for biscuits, I just need water or fruit juice," Laura told her.

"Okay..." Sally was about to leave.

"Wait...what is the name of the Lord of this mansion?" she asked.

Sally hesitated in answering her, she scratched her head. "Hmm... Our Lord told me not to tell you anything..."

Laura's brows furrowed. "Huh? Including his name?" she asked in confusion.

"Yes, Miss. Including his name. He told me that he will answer all your questions tonight after he returns from his short trip," Sally said.

"Okay," Laura murmured. She was dismayed that the maid was not willing to answer all her questions. But she can't blame her, if the master of the house told her not to reveal anything then the servants have to follow or else they will get punished for violating their master's order.

Sighing, she motioned the maid to leave. She focused her attention to the blossoming flowers. This place reminds her of her mother's flower garden. Her parents might already be worrying about her whereabouts after she was gone missing!

This won't do! She needs to go home!

She looked at the imposing structure behind her. It was a two-story mansion surrounded by trees in every direction.

Sally returned with a pitcher of cold lemonade and a glass. She put the pitcher and the glass on the table.

Laura looked at the maid. "Sally...how far is the road from here?" she asked. Trying to gather as much information as she can. She will try to escape if that guy will not release her. She needs to go home...ASAP!

"It's far, Miss. It's one kilometer if you walk on foot. But if you ride a horse or a carriage it will just take a few minutes," Sally responded.

Damn! Laura closed her eyes in frustration. "Are there carriages or horses nearby that can be hired anytime?" she asked.

Sally shook her head. "This is the only house here, Miss. No horses or carriages traveled her. The Lord has his horses and carriage in the stable," she replied.

Laura was fuming inside. How annoying! If she is lucky to escape and walk on foot, they will surely catch up with her before she can even reach the main road. Besides, even if there is a carriage or horse that can be hired, she has no money to pay her fare.

She released a deep breath. She was getting frustrated as minutes passed by. Based on that guy's words, he told her that he will never let her go because she was his bride!

Ugh! Things are getting complicated in her life!

First... there was the vampire couple's son.

Then... an arranged marriage to Cooper!

And now...a stranger claimed her as her bride!

Dang! Things are surely getting confusing for her to comprehend!

Sally looked at her. "Miss, if you are planning to leave the mansion, don't ever try. The iron gate is high and there are guards stationed there, day and night. If you run into the forest you will get lost easily. You might encounter wild animals in every corner and they will maul you to death. So... it's better not to escape for your own well-being," she warned her.

Laura nodded her head, she bit her lower lip in frustrations. "Thanks for your reminders..." she said dejectedly.
