Chapter 415 - Thank God!

Two weeks later.

Laura and her family had their family's body measurements taken by the tailor yesterday. The tailor promised that all the dresses and suits will be finished within one week since he has several workers that will work overtime on the outfits.

Graven finished donning his clothes and looked at his wife. "Have you done packing for our three days stay in my father's mansion in South Pond Town?" he asked.

"Yeah, I'm done already since yesterday. One bag for you and one bag for me, a total of two bags only," Laura replied.

"Good! How about the others?" Graven asked.

"They also finish packing since yesterday. By the way, what time we will leave tomorrow?" Laura inquired.

"Around 8 or 9 in the morning…" Graven answered. He went to his wife's side and kissed her cheeks. "I'll go now."

"Bye, take care!" Laura said.

Graven vanished from the room a moment later.

Laura sat on the bed, wondering why Rebecca no longer visited them. Did something happen to her? She hoped that Rebecca is alright. As much as she wanted to know what's going on with Rebecca's life nowadays, she has no means or ways how to contact her.

Even if she knows where Rebecca was staying, she won't dare venture to the enemy's territory.

Sighing, she left the bedroom and went downstairs to join her mother in the orchid's garden.

She spent the rest of her afternoon in the garden, enjoying the company of the beautiful flowers and her family. Occasionally, her thoughts would wander on Rebecca.

At 5:30, the sunset was already looming on the horizon.

Laura and her family return to the house and went to their rooms upstairs to take a rest.

It was already 6:00 in the evening when Graven finally arrived and landed inside the master's bedroom.

Laura was lying on the bed during that time.

"I'm home!" he said cheerfully and planted a kiss on his wife's cheeks.

Laura smiled. "You just arrive in time. The cook was setting up the table for dinner," she said.

Graven discarded his clothes and donned casual attire, then looked at his wife. "Alright, let's go downstairs and eat dinner," he said.

Laura stood up and left the bed.

The couple exited the room and went downstairs.

A few minutes later, the family gathered around the dining table to eat dinner together.

After they finished eating, the couple retired to their bedroom.

Laura looked at her husband. "I'm getting worried about Rebecca, she no longer come here since the last time we saw her," she said anxiously.

Graven sighed and took a guess. "I think her husband already forbids her to come here."

"Do you think so?"

"Yeah… what else could be the reason since she's welcome to come here at our residence anytime," Graven replied.

"Can we send Grandpa Terros to visit Rebecca at her home? You told me that he went there with Rebecca one time, I'm sure he can go back there again. Am I right?" Laura spoke.

"Yeah, but after we got back from the South Pond Town, okay?" Graven said.

Laura nods her head. "OK," she said feeling relieved.

"Everything and everyone is ready for tomorrow's journey?" Graven asked while sitting on the chair.

"Yeah, everyone is excited including me!" Laura beamed.

Graven chuckled, he went to his wife's side and kissed her lips tenderly. "Alright, let's sleep early tonight so that we can have a good rest and get ready for tomorrow's journey," he said.

Half an hour later.

The couple was already lying and cuddling on the bed.

"I hope Rebecca is well," Laura murmured.

"Of course, she's doing well right now, taken good care by her husband," Graven said just to reassure her.

A few minutes later.

Laura was already yawning. "I'm sleepy now…" she said.

"Alright, let's go to sleep!" Graven said and turned off the lampshade.

Fifteen minutes later.

The couple already drifted into a deep slumber.

The following day.

The family woke up at 7:00 in the morning and ate breakfast in the dining room. Then after they finished eating, they began their preparations for the journey.

The servants took the bags from the rooms and brought them to the carriage waiting outside.

Terros suddenly appeared in the living room, holding his bag.

Twenty minutes later.

Everyone left the house and boarded their respective carriages.

At 9:15, the carriages were already moving out of the gate, leaving the manor behind.

The sun is shining in the sky, good weather for traveling.

The travelers saw the same picturesque landscape in the countryside. They feasted their eyes on the stunning scenery that changes village after village.

In the couple's carriage, Laura was lulled to sleep and resting in her husband's lap.

Graven stared at his wife's lovely face, his pride and joy, the love of his life. Then his mind drifted to his twin brother Luke. He's both happy and relieved that his twin brother was ready to move on with his life and find his soulmate.

A moment later, his mind went to Rebecca, wondering what happened to her and why she wasn't able to visit them anymore? He hoped that everything is well at her end.

He shifted his attention to the window, looking at the serene view outside, a sense of calmness enveloped his senses.

Maybe, it's about time to inform Laura about Luke... the forgiveness starts somewhere.

Sighing, he waited for his wife to open her eyes.

A few minutes later.

Laura's eyelids fluttered, her eyes opened wide, she looked at the window. She sit upright and stretched her arms. "Whoa... I fall asleep..." she said, smiling at her husband. She noticed the serious expression on his face. "Is everything alright?" she asked.

Graven smiled and planted a kiss on her cheeks. "Yes, everything is fine," he replied.

"Okay... if there is something bothering your mind that you wanted to talk to me, then go on, I'll listen..." she said, coaxing him to open up to her.

Graven took a deep breath. "Um... it's about my twin brother Luke... do you still hate him?" he asked.

Laura was silent for a moment, breathing deeply. "Honestly, I have mixed emotion towards your bother, part of me hates him and the other part is trying to forgive and forget what he has done to me in the past," she answered.

"I have a conversation with my brother last two weeks ago, and he told me that he will no longer pursue you. He is ready to move on with his life and find the right woman for him. He will apologize to you one day when he is brave enough to face you. Can you forgive him?" Graven asked.

Laura was silent for a moment, then she looked at her husband in the eyes. "For everyone's peace of mind, I'm willing to forgive him in due time, that is if he is man enough to face me and ask my forgiveness," she finally said.

Graven smiled and hugged Laura. "Thank you, wife!"

"I'll do anything for you, husband because I love you so much!" Laura spoke, her eyes glistening with intense emotion.

"I'll do the same for you, wife! I love you a million times more!" Graven said, looking at his wife affectionately.

Graven shut off the window and kissed his wife's lips passionately.

Their fervent kiss lasted for a few minutes.

Afterward, they open the window again and looked at the view outside.

Suddenly, the carriage stopped moving forward in the middle of the road.

"What's wrong?" Graven said and peered through the window. Looking ahead, he saw several carriages lining up on the road and people rushing to the cliff located on the right side a few meters away from the main road.

"What could be the problem?" Graven asked, frowning.

One of the escorts riding on a horse comes to Graven's side. "I'll check, my Lord," he said.

"Okay, go!" Graven replied.

Two escorts got off from their horses.

The couple watched the escorts rushing to the cliff joined by another escort.

The escorts rushed to the crowd and saw two people dangling on the cliff ready to plunge to their death below. No one can help the two men because the cliff is too steep.

Commotion erupted from the crowd.

"Someone, bring a rope, hurry up!" a bearded man exclaimed.

"Can somebody go down there?" a grandma suggested.

"For God's sake, they need help! Right now!" a middle-aged woman shouted.

"Oh, no, the men are weakening their hold on the roots of the tree!" another man spoke in a frightened voice.

"They're about to fall!" another one screamed in horror.

The men can no longer hold on to the roots of the tree anymore, they plunged to their death as the crowd stared in shock.

Suddenly, a miracle happened and the two men shoot above as if they were being lifted by invisible hands, they were deposited to safety in the ground above, immediately they were surrounded by the crowd, trying to help them.

"What happened?" one of the spectators asked.

"These men are my passengers, we are heading to the next town. They are drinking inside the carriage and then ordered me to stop the carriage 'coz they want to take a pee, they got curious and checked the cliff below, the rest is history..." the petrified driver of the carriage explained to the crowd.

"Thank, God, a miracle happened! If not... these men are already dead by now!" a middle-aged woman said.

"Guys, did you see how these men come back to safety? As if an invisible hands lifted them! Did you see it?" one of the guys said.

"There must be a fairy residing around this place and help the men!" a male voice said.

The crowd nodded their heads in agreement.

"OMG! This cliff must be enchanted! Let's get out of here! Or else we might found ourselves in the cliff below!" said the old man.

The crowd dispersed and went back to their carriages including the two drunk men and his driver.

A few minutes later, one of the escorts returned to the carriage.

"What is it?" Graven asked.

"It's just two drunk men, drinking alcohol while on a journey, relieving their bladder, wandered on the wrong side of the road, got curious, checked out the cliff and fall stupidly... dangling on the edge about to fall into their death... indeed they fall... good thing our invisible men swoop down and save them from certain death, bringing them back to safety... the rest is history," the escort explained.

"Good job, men!" Graven said appreciatively.

The escorts went back to their horses and mounted the animals.

Laura smiled and clapped her hands. "Thank God! The men are safe!"

Graven smiled and instructed the driver to continue their journey.
