Chapter 4.6

OMG! What has she done? Why did she ask him such a question?

Sunghee didn’t mean to ask Seungju this, but realizing it was too late, she tried to sound teasing. She smiled at him coyly and added quickly,

“I mean, you don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to, Manager Min. But even if you do tell me, I won’t tell anyone at the office. I promise!”

“But why do you want to know? I thought both you and Yura like the new manager of the strategic planning team, right?”

“Pardon?”

Sunghee blushed and stared at him. Seungju gave her a naughty smile when she waved her hands.

“No, no! It’s not like that! You know how it is. When a good looking guy gets hired, all the girls in the office gossip about him! We’re just curious about him, that’s all. Besides, the strategic planning department is on a different floor, so it’s not like we get to see their manager often.”

“I know him by the way. We went to the same university.”

When Sunghee blinked, unable to say anything, Seungju smiled again and added,

“But I’m not going to tell you anything about him. What if you think he’s better and you become interested in him? I would be so sad if that happens.”

Sunghee remained speechless. It was clear this man was flirting with her, but she didn’t know how to react. Just then, her cell phone rang. Sunghee felt relieved by the sudden interruption. She picked it up, but when she saw Sejin’s number on the screen, she couldn’t help frowning.

Did Sejin think he owned her just because they were sleeping together? Like he had the right to know where she was at all times? It wasn’t like they were dating, so why was he calling her so often?

“Hello?”

“Why won’t you answer your phone, Sunghee? You aren’t home right now, are you? Where are you?”

Well, she was on a date with an amazing guy. She wanted to tell him this and that it was none of his business, but she stopped herself and answered calmly,

“I had a dinner engagement. Did you need something?”

“Oh, I wanted to eat dinner with you. I bought your favorite salmon salad and sushi, and I’m standing outside your home.”

Sunghee felt just a tiny bit guilty, but it wasn’t enough to abandon Seungju and head back home for Sejin. Sunghee answered lightly,

“I’m sorry, but I’m busy right now. Perhaps another time? I’ve gotta go. I’ll talk to you later.”

Without waiting for Sejin’s answer, Sunghee hung up. Seungju looked at her curiously as he raised his eyebrows. Sunghee smiled and explained,

“She’s a friend from university. She wanted to meet for dinner if I had time tonight.”

“You must not be close friends, right? You sounded a little… annoyed.”

Sunghee smiled awkwardly and shrugged.

“She just can be a little annoying. When I see her sometimes, we have lots of fun, but she isn’t the type I want to see all the time.”

“Oh, I know what you mean. I have a friend just like that too.”

Seungju seemed to have noticed that she felt a little annoyed, so he quickly began to talk about his friends. Sunghee smiled and listened attentively.

“We should get going now. It’s almost time for the show to start.”

When Seungju announced, Sunghee looked at her watch as she stood up. They were leaving the cafe when Seungju’s phone rang. He waved her to go ahead and answered the phone.

“Hello? Oh, yeah. What’s up? No, I’m outside. Why do you ask?”

Sunghee stood nearby to eavesdrop because she wondered if it was a woman who called him. But strangely, she didn’t feel jealous at all. Sunghee just felt curious about what kind of woman might be calling him.

So what was Manager Min’s type? Sexy? Cute? Fragile and lady-like?

“Hmm… No, I’m actually on a date. Of course, I’m with an amazing woman. No, I’m not telling you who she is, dude.”

Dude? Well, unless it was a very boyish woman, it was very likely Seungju was talking to a man. Sunghee slowly left the  cafe and waited for him outside. After the call, Seungju followed her.

“Now, let’s go, Sunghee.”

“Are we…”

On a date? Sunghee wanted to ask, but it felt ridiculous to confirm something like that. She closed her mouth and shook her head. Seungju looked curious, but he didn’t prod her.

“Yeah, let’s go.”

He held her hand gently. Sunghee stood for a moment to see how it felt, and when she decided that she felt okay with it, she held his hand as well. It wasn’t… bad. His hand was a little warmer than she preferred, but overall, it was good.

After all, what could she complain about? He was a tall handsome man with an amazing career ahead of him. A perfect husband material! But the truth was, what Sunghee really wanted to know was what he was like in bed. Was he good? Amazing? Or… bad?

Sunghee wished there was a scoring system for such a thing. Wouldn’t it be great if all men had to carry around their scores on their backs? For example…

Sunghee glanced at Seungju and sighed. She was clearly not in her right mind. Could it be that she was sexually frustrated? But after all those nights with Sejin…? Or has she finally become a sex addict?

What the heck was she going to do?!
