Chapter 177 - Now What?

I crossed my arms as I looked at the unconscious Millie, "Now what should I do?"

William shouted, "WHAT IS HAPPENING?!"

I turned to the two staring at me behind the bars with mouths agape. I silently went over to the cell door and fiddled with the lock to open it up. They walked out still staring at me in bewilderment.

Dante spoke quietly, "Did you... Not mean the things you said to her?"

William spoke, "Yeah! Why were you saying those things?! Did you just want to distract her?!"

I shrugged, "Yes and no. Some were truths and some were lies."

William held his head, "I'm so confused..."

I walked back to Millie, "We can talk later, but come help me tie her up first."

They helped me tie her to a pillar and ensure she couldn't get loose. Her head still drooped down from being unconscious. I looked at her and tapped my chin with my finger. I bent down to look at her sleeping expression. Even though she was seriously crazy looking a second ago, now she looks like a sleeping angel...

A sleeping angel that wants to kill me.

William glanced at me, "What do you plan to do?"

I sighed, "I don't know... I feel so conflicted."

William's face twitched, "How can you feel so conflicted?! She just admitted to wanting to kill not only Mary and us, but you as well! We need to turn her in to the authorities."

I frowned and looked at her unconscious face, "But... It's Millie... We've been friends with her since the very beginning."

William frowned, "We? You mean you. Millie was never interested in anyone other than you."

I sighed, "That makes me want to keep her more."

In my previous life, I never had anyone want to stay by my side this badly. Now that I have someone who wants to, I feel like selfishly keeping her by my side. Sure, she also wants to kill me... But maybe she just needs a good nap?

William held his forehead in exasperation, "You can't be serious."

I looked at him, "What? So far she has only committed attempted murder. It's not like she killed anyone yet. What if we just convince her to stop trying to kill people?"

William sighed, "If you can stop her, then maybe."

Dante had been listening to the conversation while looking around the area we were in. He caught sight of jars on a shelf. His expression grew dark, "Look at this."

We all turned and walked over to where he was standing. When we saw what was in those jars, William and I immediately turned pale. William held his mouth, "Oh, I'm going to be sick."

My face twitched, "Are those... Body parts?"

Dante nodded, "There also seems to be descriptions on them."

Dante held the torch closer to the labels. He read it, "This one has eyes in it. It says it belongs to Daniel from the thieves guild. Reason for death: Followed Seri to kill her. Although he already lost his hands, I took his eyes."

He looked at another jar with hands inside of it, "This one Is Ralnold from the thieves guild. Reason for death: Followed Seri to kill her. I took his hands and his life."

I felt a cold shiver on my back. Judging by the date on it, weren't these the two thieves who followed Bertram and I after we went to see Charles? To teach them a lesson, I took their hands and their eyes. But apparently Millie actually went back and killed them?!

We continued to read the jars that had preserved body parts in them. Each jar had a different person's part in them. Each reason behind their death had to deal with me. Millie must have been watching me for a while. Any person who had ever hurt me and disappeared, was now in these jars in front of me.

Mystery solved?

Dante got to the last jar that seemed to be taken care of more than the others. His expression grew darker as he read it, "Ilene."

William looked up in horror, "What?"

Even I was surprised, "Ilene?"

Dante read, "She tried to kill Seri. I took her tongue so she could never say a bad word about Seri ever again."

"Oh, I'm definitely going to be sick." William ran to the corner and threw up.

Even my stomach felt weak looking at the jar which contained a younger girl's tongue. Even though I hated Ilene... This seemed a bit extreme.

I managed to force out, "Millie killed Ilene?"

Dante nodded, "It seems like it."

I took a few steps away from the trophy room and held my stomach. I turned back to Millie and stood in front of her with a complicated expression. My legs went weak and I collapsed onto my knees in front of her. I looked at her sleeping face which seemed so peaceful, but I knew there was a monstrous storm brewing underneath.

William stopped puking and wiped his mouth. He and Dante walked over to me and looked at each other with uncertainty. They didn't know how they could possibly comfort me at this moment. How would you feel if your best friend turned out to be a murderer?

Dante bent down and rubbed my back to reassure me. His expression grew soft as he felt my body shake. William sighed, "Seri... I know you must feel awful right now... But it wasn't your fault. It was all Millie's doing..."

I forced out a strained voice, "This.... Is.... INCREDIBLE!"

Dante and William flinched, "What."

I threw my hands in the air with a crazed smile, "THIS IS AMAZING! DO YOU REALIZE WHAT THIS MEANS?!"

They both shook their heads.

I jumped up and looked at them with a large grin, "This means she is a serial killer! A SERIAL KILLER!"

"Uhhhh." William blinked in confusion, "A serial killer?"

I jumped up and down in excitement, "Do you realize just how long I've been wanting to find a serial killer! F*ck! I spent my entire previous life always wanting to find one, but I never could!"

William looked at Dante in concern, "Is Seri having a mental breakdown?"

He nodded, "Yup."

I grabbed Millie's face and turned her head trying to observe her, "I can't believe it! I've always wanted to meet a serial killer. Now I actually have! HAHA! I've always wanted to pick apart their brain and figure out why they do what they do. What is the basis for those irrational thoughts? Why are they so compelled to collect trophies of their victims?! THIS IS SO EXCITING!"

I've always been into true crime and serial killers. That was the reason I became a profiler in my previous life. I wanted excitement and danger. However, all I ever found was pitiful people that were incredibly boring. But now I've actually found an ACTUAL serial killer! And not just any serial killer, but a truly successful one!

William looked at me dumbstruck, "Seri. Are you being serious right now?! What even is a serial killer?!"

I turned my head to him just now realizing I wasn't alone. I tried to contain my excitement as I spoke, "Right. I forgot this term hasn't been invented. A serial killer is someone who kills multiple people usually following a specific pattern. Some serial killers even keep trophies of their victims."

William frowned feeling sick, "Yeah. Noticed that."

I squealed, "Isn't this exciting?!"

He shook his head, "No. No it's not. It's disturbing. We definitely have to turn her over to the authorities."

I grinned, "Or..."

He shook his head, "No or."

I continue, "Or you let me keep her."

William was stunned, "Why would I let you keep her?! Don't you realize how dangerous she is?!"

"It's exactly why she's dangerous that you should let me keep her! Come on! Let me indulge in my personal curiosity. I never ask you for anything."

"You are ALWAYS asking for things!!!"

I pouted, "Come on, William. It's not like I will let her go loose. We can keep her tied up in my room."

Dante frowned, "Bad idea."

William agreed, "There's no way we can let her stay in your room after she just tried to kill you."

Before I could respond, a weak groan came from Millie. We all stopped talking and looked at her as she groggily opened her eyes. She tried to move, but she found that she had been tied up. She looked around with a venomous scowl before she caught sight of me in front of her. Her face abruptly turned gentle as she smiled at me with a tender expression.

She spoke in a soft voice, "Seri... Why do you have me tied up?" She put on a pitiful expression, "Are you mad at me?"

I held my heart. D*mn. She looks so adorable. Has she always been this good at acting?

She moved her shoulders as she looked up at me with puppy dog eyes, "Seri... Please don't be mad at me... Can't you let me go? I promise I will be a good girl."

GAH! TOO CUTE! MY HEART!

William frowned noticing my expression, "Seri. Don't believe her! She wants to kill you!"

Millie glared at him with killing intent, "Shut up you f*cking bastard! I was talking to Seri!"

William looked startled and was speechless at being insulted so quickly.

Millie turned to me with a gentle expression, "Seri..."

F*ck. She's like two sides of a penny. Her personality can flip so quickly.

I crossed my arms and gave her a stern look, "I'm not going to untie you Millie."

Millie's eyes watered, "But why not?"

I stayed strong under her pitiful look, "Because if I let you go then you will kill me."

Millie smiled, "You don't have to fear anything. I promise I will kill you painlessly. I want your body in perfect condition so I wouldn't dare damage it."

I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose, "Millie. I don't understand how you go from loving me to wanting to kill me. Doesn't that seem like quite the jump?"

She tilted her head, "In death, we will be together forever. Isn't that true love?"

I shook my head, "No. That's a psychopathic delusion."

Her eyebrows pinched together trying to think, "Delusion? No. I think it's quite normal."

I stood up, "Don't worry. I will help you get better."

She looked up at me, "Get better? But I'm not sick."

No... You're very sick...

"I won't let you go. However..." I clasped my hands together, "I will rehabilitate you while you are tied up in my room."

Dante gave me a firm look, "No you won't."

I nodded, "Yes I will."

"No." William and Dante said simultaneously.

"Yes."

"No."

_______

We walked back to my room with Millie in tow. Her arms were tied up thoroughly as I grabbed the rope and led her with it. We put a cloak over her to avoid anyone noticing she was tied up and being led like a dog. She bobbed up and down with an extremely happy face.

William and Dante followed me with scowls on their faces. They weren't happy one bit that they lost the argument. William wanted Millie behind bars while Dante wanted to get rid of her once and for all. However, they lost against my charismatic persuasion.

I snuck them into my dorm and tied Millie to my heavy wardrobe. There was no way she would be able to move this thing. Even I couldn't. As I tested to make sure she was properly tied up, Dante and William watched me with irritated expressions.

The door flew open. Mary shouted, "Seri! You're back so late! Do you want some-" She froze as we all turned to look at her.

She saw William and Dante standing in my room despite the rule that boys were not allowed in the dorm. Furthermore, she noticed Millie tied up with a gentle smile while we all stood around her. I held the rope with a blank expression.

"Nevermind." She shut the door and pretended she didn't see a thing.
