Chapter 116 - Seri's Future Goals

I slept during class while the teacher gave his lesson. He was one of the few teachers who could care less if I was paying attention or not.

The monotone teacher spoke to the class, "Right before I dismiss class for today, I just have one announcement to make."

I snapped awake, "Class is dismissed?!"

He just looked at me blandly, "No. Not yet."

I deflated, "Aw..."

He continued, "Since you are all first years, it's traditional that you fill out a form of intent. You will discuss your intended career path and then you will spend the rest of your time in the Academy taking more courses designed for that path."

He started passing out the papers, "Please complete this and turn it in by the end of the week."

I looked at the paper with a scowl.

What would you like to do for your future career?

What are your future goals?

How will you accomplish these goals?

I walked out of the room still staring at the paper. Artie, Millie, and Mary followed close behind me.

I raised an eyebrow, "Is this the famous future goals assignment I've read about in books?"

I never had the opportunity to encounter it before. Artie looked at me in confusion, "How do you not know it? This assignment is typical of any school."

"Hmm."

I wonder if it's the same back in my previous world. I guess you could say college was how to achieved your intended career path. Is the Academy supposed to be like college then?

Phew. That's a lot of pressure to put on a 14 year old.

We walked into the student council room and sat down. I still stared at the assignment in front of me.

Millie smiled at me, "Don't you have any future careers in mind?"

My dream is to be the most feared crime boss in the entire kingdom. I want everyone to shake at the mere mention of my name. I want the life of an evil villain in the shadows, secretly pulling the strings and controlling the entire Kingdom.

A career of crime. That's the future I want.

Of course I can't say this out loud.

I shrugged, "I'm not sure. What about everyone else?"

Artie smiled, "I want to own my own boutique."

I shook my head, "Too girly. Next."

His face twitched.

Mary smiled, "My future goal is to marry Seri!"

I frowned, "Get used to disappointment. Next."

Millie thought for a moment, "I will probably become a nanny or a private tutor."

I made a face, "Gross. Children. Ugh. Don't you all have more exciting goals? I bet even disease boy has better plans."

Lucius glared at me in irritation, "You.." He snickered, "That's right. I'm going to take over my father's dukedom."

I made a face, "Dear God. Even disease boy is boring."

"H-Hey!"

I ignored him. Mary looked at William, "What about you?"

"Haah? Me?"

She nodded. Her face was genuinely curious. He blinked in disbelief, "I'm going to be the King."

"Oh." She looked at Dante, "And you?"

"A Knight."

Dante would of course, follow the path he did in the original novel. Although he never really did care about becoming a Knight. He only did it because it made sense. He was a good swordsman and he was levelheaded.

Can't forget that he was also a tad sadistic.

I looked at Mathias, "What about you?"

If I remember right, his father was a Baron. I wonder if he would also take over his father's business.

He raised his book to cover his face and muttered, "I... I want to be a financial advisor..."

My eyes lit up, "Wow! I wasn't expecting that. You'll definitely be great at that."

Mathias was good with numbers and quick witted. He was really only lacking when it came to social situations.

Now that I think about it... He would be a nice addition to my crime syndicate...

He was taken back by the compliment and used the book to hide himself more.

I gave a devious smile, "What if you work for me?"

He peeked his eyes over the top of the book in curiosity. William glared at me, "And why would he work for you?"

I scowled back at him, "Maybe I'm interested in starting a company."

An illegal one.

"And what kind of company?"

"A legal one." I looked away awkwardly.

He raised an eyebrow, "A legal one?"

Mary smiled at me, "You could start a bakery!"

I thought for a moment, "A bakery eh?"

William turned pale. All he could imagine was a fire after Seri got "curious". Millie smiled, "My sisters are good at baking."

William cut in quickly, "Didn't you want to become a Knight? Isn't that why you forced me to agree to the training?"

I crossed my arms proudly, "I didn't force you. I won that bet fair and square."

He just looked at me, "There was nothing fair about it. You definitely cheated."

Mary looked at me with bright eyes, "You wanted to become a Knight?"

I nodded, "Ah. Yeah I did."

She moved closer to me with expectant eyes, "Why did you want to be a knight? Do you want to fight for the greater good? To help those less fortunate??"

I sat back in my seat tapping my chin deep in thought. Why did I want to be a Knight again? I'm sure it was a good reason. But what was it again... Hmmm...

Everyone leaned forward in their seats, patiently awaiting the answer.

I snapped my fingers, "That's it! I remember now!"

They all looked at me with eager eyes.

I smiled proudly, "I wanted to wear pants."

Everyone's eager gaze quickly dropped. William closed his eyes, "What?"

"I said I wanted to wear pants."

William's eyes snapped open in irritation, "I HEARD YOU!" He took a deep breath. He spoke through his clenched jaw, "I'm just wondering WHY you would want to become a Knight for such an idiotic reason."

"My father told me girls couldn't wear pants. The only way around it would be to become a Knight. And look! I was able to wear pants during training this year!"

William smacked his forehead in frustration.

I sighed, "I just wish I could have been able to wear pants when I was training during childhood. Training in a dress was irritating."

Dante glanced at me, "You could have."

I blinked, "Huh?"

He repeated himself, "You could have."

"You mean..."

"Yes."

"All that time..."

"Yes."

I suddenly banged my head against the table making everyone flinch. I looked at Dante with a red forehead, "You mean to tell me all that time I didn't have to wear a dress?! Why didn't you say anything?!?"

He shrugged calmly, "I thought you preferred a dress."

I sobbed internally. All those years... Wasted.

I sat back up and sniffled, "Well I guess I will just write down knighthood."

Mary looked at me sheepishly, "How does your... Fiance feel about it?"

I blinked in confusion, "Fiance?"

Her head picked up slightly, "You don't have one?"

I quickly shook my head, "I don't."

Her eyes shimmered almost blinding me, "What about a lover?"

I slunk away from her blinding aura, "Lover?"

She nodded, "Don't you have one?"

Everyone in the room was quiet and pretended not to be paying attention. However, they were all secretly anticipating the answer.

I shook my head, "I don't."

She drew closer to me, "Do you love anyone?"

What the hell is up with this line of questioning?!

I paused for a moment. Actually. I've never even thought about love. I don't think I was ever in love with anyone before... Well except for fictional characters.... But the idea of real love was completely foreign to me.

It was so foreign I never paid it any attention. I was too focused on other things. I had such a hard time trusting people I don't think I could even try dating someone.

Wait. Do people even date here?! Isn't it just single, engaged, married?! Nothing in between??

I shook my head, "There's no one I like."

Mary glanced over at William and Dante, "But you are rather close to Prince William and Dante. Are you sure you don't like one of them?"

I nearly choked on my own tongue, "NO! I DON'T!"

She raised an eyebrow, "Are you sure?"

I nodded quickly, "YES! YES I'M SURE! We are just friends! Only friends!"

"Friends...?" William mumbled. I glanced over at him.

He suddenly burst out of his seat, "FRIENDS! SHE SAID WE ARE FRIENDS!"

"Huh." I watched him speechlessly.

He grinned ear to ear. He looked at Dante, "Did you hear that?!? She called us friends!"

He nodded in excitement with a straight face. William jumped up and started dancing, "Friends! Friends! She said we are friends!"

I... I have no words.

Are they really that excited to be friends?!

Millie tugged on my arm and I looked over at her. She looked at me with a puppy dog look, "What about me? Am I your friend?"

Ack! Critical damage being taken!!

She's just too cute!

I rubbed her head lovingly, "We're not just friends. We are best friends!!"

She giggled and nuzzled against me. William finally calmed back down and took a seat. But he was still grinning ear to ear while he hummed to himself. Even Dante seemed to be in a better mood.

Millie smiled up at me, "Although I am a bit curious..."

"Mhm?" I looked at her with a blissful smile.

"What kind of person would you be interested in romantically?"

"Who I would be interested in?"

Once again, the room quieted down and was filled with curious glances.

My type huh...

What exactly is my type?

Well. William the tsundere is really fun to tease... And he's pretty good looking...

But there's no way in hell I want to be Queen. That's a deal breaker.

Dante on the other hand... Well he's...

I shook my head.

Nope. Not even going to think about it.

There's no way I'm a masochist.

Mathias's type isn't bad either... He certainly would be fun to tease.

But being too much of a pushover is kind of boring.

Lucius... Yeah. F*ck no to that.

Artie's type is super adorable and cute. But there's zero sexual attraction there. He's only good for cuddling.

Also, he's TOTALLY a uke.

Mary's totally annoying. So that's also a no.

Millie... Well Millie is too precious. I wouldn't dare taint her innocent self with my depravity.

So if I had to say...

"I would say I'm interested in someone who could challenge me. Someone who is fun to tease, but wouldn't be boring or a pushover." I nodded and added, "Also someone who would be fun to get into trouble with."

Yup. A partner in crime.

I subconsciously glanced to Dante.

I looked away quickly.

What am I thinking?! No no... I meant a DIFFERENT partner in crime.

Yup. A different one.

A.

Different.

One.

Feeling a bit embarrassed, I turned the attention to Millie. "What about you?"

She smiled, "Oh? Me?"

I nodded, "Yes. I'm curious as well."

Obviously she's going to describe someone like William.

Whenever she fawns over me, she always glances at William to make sure he's watching. Clearly she's trying to make him jealous.

She gave a chilling smile, "Someone who is fun to play with."

I gulped.

Just now... That smile...

Was f*cking terrifying.

I looked at William with pity in my eyes.

Rest in Peace William.

William raised an eyebrow, "Why are you looking at me?"
