Chapter 72 - A Wonderful Suggestion

After William's declaration of keeping two of the kittens, I stared at him in complete astonishment.

It wasn't just me. Everyone stared at him completely flabbergasted. This was the boy who was terrified of anything that crawled or walked on four legs. He was beyond terrified of furry creatures.

Even though they were kittens, he kept his distance from them and was trembling obviously the entire time. He wanted to run and scream but his pride forced him to stay.

Now that same boy wanted to keep them. It was an entirely ridiculous idea. I didn't know whether to laugh or applaud.

He swallowed hard and spoke, "They can come home with me. T-then you can still see them and you can also bring the k-kittens over for a playdate. You won't have to worry about breaking up a family."

I ran over to him and grabbed his hands. He leaned away from my face that was much too close. My eyes shimmered.

I rambled on completely overjoyed, "William! That's brilliant! That's perfect! PERFECT! Of course your place would be the perfect home! I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS! I'm so PROUD of you! Ah~ my little boy is growing up!"

He frowned and mumbled, "Little boy?"

I continued rambling, "You're finally ready to conquer your phobia! I always thought you needed to. Ah! Exposure therapy! Yes of course! The kittens can stay in your room so that way you can gradually accept them and no longer be afraid!"

His face twitched from fear, "M-My room?"

I nodded, "Yes! Start small so that way it won't be as overwhelming."

He whimpered, "That's not small..."

I pulled away and looked at the kittens deep in thought, "Now just who should I send with you? Oh! I know! Kitty William and Kitty Millie would be perfect!"

"Hah?!" He shouted, "Why kitty William?! He's so vicious!"

I smiled, "Because two tsundere's would get along wonderfully."

Wait. Would they? I'm not sure. Has anyone ever tested it out before? I guess I will take this as a learning opportunity as well.

William looked at Kitty William. They both tossed their heads away into the air with a, "Hmph!" Then they both opened one eye to see if the other was looking. After they made eye contact, they both blushed and forced on an angry face.

Too cute.

William pointed at the black cat, "I want Kitty Dante!"

"NO! DANTE IS MINE!" I grabbed Kitty Dante away from him. I held him to my chest with a growling face.

The room grew quiet at my response. I blushed slightly realizing that it came out wrong. I coughed, "Uh. I mean... Kitty Dante is mine."

Extra emphasis on the kitty part.

William frowned, "But why? He's way more calmer than kitty William. I want him."

I looked at Kitty Dante and stroked his head lovingly, "No way. He's mine."

"Why?"

I smiled, "Because. I'm a sucker for that hateful glare. Those cold eyes makes me squirm with joy. I just want to destroy him with love and snuggles."

Human Dante frowned, "Destroy?"

I thought for a moment, "Not destroy... Smother?"

Dante glared at the kitten surprised at himself for being jealous of a cat.

I looked at William, "Anyway, Millie and William are a bonded pair. We can't separate them. They would be heartbroken."

Human Millie and William both flushed at this. Millie looked down and spoke in a timid voice, "You don't need to make it sound so suggestive."

I smiled at them. True enough, I said that with ulterior motives.

I've come to realize Millie has a crush on William. She's always blushing around him and too embarrassed to make eye contact with him. After she started attending my training sessions with Dante, she's stayed close to William.

While me and Dante practiced, Millie and William would be sitting together reading or studying. They looked like the perfect couple.

Even though I know Millie has no possible chance of being with William, as her best friend I must support her.

I threw my fist in the air and nodded.

Yes. I will be your most powerful ally.

Millie tilted her head in confusion at me. She didn't know why I was staring at her with such determination.

I turned to Lona, "Could you bring the kittens some food? Chicken or fish would be ideal. Also.."

I looked at the muddy boys in front of me, "I think Dante and William will need a bath and a change of clothes."

Lona nodded, "Right away."

She called for more maids and they led the boys away. Lona turned to me, "You'll need a bath and a change of clothes."

I looked at Millie, "You want a bath too? You can take one with me."

Her face blushed instantly. She shook her head, "N-No! I couldn't possibly! That's too embarrassing..."

I tilted my head, "Why are you embarrassed? We've already bathed together. Plus we are both girls."

I don't understand why Millie gets so embarrassed over this. Back in my previous world, I usually used public baths until I graduated college. People of all ages went to those. It was no different from that.

Millie froze at the memory, "Oh. Yeah."

I smiled at Lona, "Prepare a bath for us!"

Lona nodded and we went to my private bath. She helped both me and Millie get undressed. Lona made sure to made sure to make the bath fragrant and bubbly.

I put the bubbles on my face to make a beard. I spoke in a deep shakey voice, "Millie... I am your grandfather..."

She giggled, "You're not my grandfather."

"Yesss... I am him. Why haven't you visited me Millie?"

She giggled more, "You're so silly."

I swiped my beard off, "Millie... What's that on your face?"

She looked worried, "Hmm? What?"

I splashed her, "Got it."

Her honey blonde hair covered her face dripping with water. She parted her bangs revealing her deep brown eyes, "You got my hair wet."

I smiled proudly, "Well since it's wet, I suppose I should wash it for you.'

She blushed, "N-no! That's not necessary."

"Sure it is! Take it as my apology."

She finally relented and allowed me to. I took the lavender soap and began scrubbing and massaging her scalp. I did it with such care, making sure not to get any in her eyes.

Ahh. I've always wanted a little sister. I wonder if this is how it would feel like to have one.

"Wow. Seri you're so good at this." Millie's voice was full of awe. Even Lona was impressed.

I smiled arrogantly, "Fufu. Of course I am. I had two little brothers after all."

I stopped moving. I could feel the awkward silence in the room.

Ack! I can't believe I let something so important slip! They're really going to think I'm crazy now!!!

Millie looked at me, "But. I thought you were an only child?"

I forced out laughter, "I am! I am! I was just playing a trick on you. Did you think I was serious?"

Millie carefully looked at my forced smile. Then her face returned to it's fluffy warm smile, "Oh. I see."

Lona was watching me with serious eyes. Ugh. I know she's thinking about something. I'm not even gunna ask.

"By the way Millie... Are you ticklish?"

I started tickling her and she started giggling while splashing hectically to get away, "Ahahaha! Stop! Ahaha!"

I splashed around enjoying Millie's embarrassed face.

Lona frowned, "For the last time! This isn't a pool!"

We got out of the tub and put some robes on. I waved to Millie, "You look like my size. I'm going to find a dress for you."

I went to my massive closet and looked through the dresses. I pulled out one. I started breathing heavily.

She. Would. Look. Too. Cute. In. This.

I handed it to Lona who helped change us both into dry clothes. I watched Millie twirl in one of my lolita dresses. I smiled in admiration and nodded, "That suits you well. You're just so cute!"

Ah~ I can die happily now.

Is this the power of the lolita?

She beamed, "I can't believe it fits!"

There was a knock on the door. Lona opened it. The boys stood there frowning. I broke into uncontrollable laughter.

"AHAHAHAHAHA!"

William glared blushing out of embarrassment, "Stop laughing!"

I smacked my leg and doubled over, "AHAHAHAHA I CAN'T! I CAN'T! YOU LOOK SO STUPID! AHAHAHAA!"

William and Dante had been forced into wearing my father's shirts. After all, no young boys resided here so they didn't have any clothes that would fit. Unfortunately, all they have here was my father's clothes, which was several sizes too big. It looked as if they were wearing dresses.

"YOU'RE WEARING DRESSES! AHAHAHAHA!" *Snort*

I covered my face abruptly. The room got quiet again. William smirked and stepped towards me, "Did you just snort?"

I took a step back and put on a proud face, "I most certainly did not."

He stepped closer, "You did. I heard."

I stepped away once more, "You must be hearing things. You should get your ears checked out."

A hiss rang out. Kitty Dante jumped in front of me and swiped at William. William squealed in fear and jumped behind the human Dante. He shivered, "W-why is it angry?!"

Millie smiled at the kitten, "Aww. Kitty Dante was protecting his mommy." She looked at me, "Wow. I'm jealous. All animals really do love you."

I shrugged, "Not all animals."

She tilted her head, "Oh?"

I nodded, "Yup. For example, birds."

Dante raised an eyebrow, "Birds?"

My face grew somber, "For some reason they always dive bomb me to attack me. Or they'll peck me relentlessly. I don't understand why."

Millie looked at me bewildered, "Really? All birds do that?"

I nodded. My face grew dark, "But there is one that attacks me more viciously than any others."

Millie guessed, "Hawks?"

"No."

William guessed, "Owls?"

"No."

Dante guessed, "Vultures?"

I looked at him insulted, "What?! Vultures?! No! Do I look like a dead animal to you?!"

"..."

My face twitched in irritation at his lack of response. Millie asked inquisitively, "Then what bird?"

My voice came out full of dread, "Pigeons."

I was met by blank stares.

"Pigeons?" William repeated in disbelief.

I nodded, "Yes. Pigeons. They are evil incarnate."

If I had a mortal enemy, it would definitely be a pigeon.

It's not like I did anything to make them hate me. I just exist and they feel the need to chase me and claw at my hair. Therefore, they must be the spawn of the devil.

Just then the door flung open and another person stood in the doorway.

How many f*cking people are going to burst in here today?!

My father shouted, "Baby girl! How could you come back in such dangerous conditions?!"

He froze seeing the collection of people in my room. His face dropped when he saw Dante and William in my bedroom.

To make matters worse....

Those were his shirts!!!

Why... Why were they half naked in his daughters room?! Could it be...

My father thought about something so outrageous, his soul left his body. He collapsed onto the floor.

My mother returned to the room and sighed at the sight of my father passed out. She snapped her fingers and the maids rushed over. She spoke with a voice full of disappointment, "Put my husband into bed. Maybe give him a tonic to make him groggy so he won't go into a blind rage."

They nodded, "Yes ma'am."

Then they dragged his lifeless body out. My mother looked at us, "I've had some men send letters to your family to let them know you're here. It's too dangerous for carriages, so I'm afraid you'll have to spend the night."

My eyes lit up, "That's great! Do you know what that means?!"

William raised an eyebrow, "We have to stay in this ridiculous outfit?"

I shook my head, "No! It means we can have a sleepover!"
