Chapter 54 - A Worthy Adversary

I was picked up by Simon and placed on top of the horse. I grabbed onto the saddle a bit nervous. The horse could also feel my nervousness and snorted as if trying to reassure me.

Simon climbed up the saddle and sat directly behind me. He reached around me to grab the reigns. My body tensed up in response.

He chuckled, "Why are you so tense? Have you never rode a horse before?"

No! But that's not the issue here!!! How can I be relaxed when there is a grown man holding onto me so closely?!

I tried to speak casually, "No, I haven't."

"Hmm. I see. So that must be why you're shaking so bad. Don't worry, Dex loves you. He would never do anything to get you hurt."

The horse snorted as if agreeing.

I'm not so sure why I'm actually shaking. I can't really tell if I'm shaking because he's so handsome or if it's because everything in my body is telling me to run for my life right now.

"Are you perhaps scared I'm bringing you to a dungeon?"

I giggled, "Of course not! Big brother wouldn't do that to me."

He isn't actually bringing me to a dungeon right??? RIGHT?!

He chuckled again, "Just relax."

I spoke in a soft voice, "Big brother... Just how can I relax with such a handsome man as yourself carrying me?"

I complimented him in an attempt to charm him.

He chuckled heartily, "You speak as if you're older. A girl your age shouldn't have such mature things on your mind."

I blushed slightly. Is he trying to say I'm trying to come on to him? As if. I was only trying to manipulate him! But not only did it not work, I got embarrassed instead!

Although... I do have to admit... This kind of person is totally my type. He looks so unique and exotic that it's particularly eye catching. Not to mention I'm a sucker for such tan skin...

He would be my perfect man.

Except...

There is something very dangerous about this man!!! I can't figure it out, but if my body reacts this bad there has to be something. My instincts are usually never wrong.

I looked over at him, "Big brother. You must be really popular with the ladies."

He smiled, "Well my face is. But..."

I nodded in understanding, "But your personality leaves nothing to be desired."

I saw a slight change cross his face, "Oh? What's wrong with my personality?"

I turned back to the front.

F*ck. I said too much.

I tried to save myself, "Don't worry about it too much big brother. People also tell me that my personality is undesirable."

"Oh really? But I think you have a nice personality. Why do people say it's undesirable?"

"Apparently I am too vulgar."

He smiled at me, "Vulgar?"

I noticed him smile and stopped immediately. I need to watch what I say around this man!

I coughed dryly, "I'm not really. People are just too sensitive."

He chuckled, "I agree."

I turned to the horse and realized that we had been riding him for a while. I was more than pleased to notice it was in fact the way to my home.

Another thing dawned on me. Not once have I felt sick while riding on this horse.

"Huh..."

He glanced at me, "What is it?"

I realized I had said something and shook my head, "No. It's nothing. I just realized I don't feel sick at all. I usually get motion sick while riding in carriages, yet I feel perfectly fine on this horse."

I ought to ask my father for a horse.

A sly smile crossed his face, "Well, I can change that."

I turned to him and raised an eyebrow. Before I could ask him what he meant, I was suddenly lurched forward. Dex began running at full speed.

I was so shocked by this sudden change in speed, I couldn't even scream. All I could do was cry as the wind whipped my eyes.

When we arrived to my house I felt like fainting. He laughed at my pain and picked me up from the horse. Instead of putting me on the ground, he carried me in his arms.

Why is he acting so familiar with me?! Oh well.

He smiled at me, "Well? Did you enjoy it?"

I coughed dryly, "The first half. Yes. The second half, not so much."

He chuckled, "I will remember that."

I wanted to cry in regret.

When we got to the door, I smiled at him. "This is good enough. You can just leave me here."

He smiled at me mischievously, "Nonsense."

He knocked on the door and a servant opened the door, "Who is it at this time?"

He smiled, "Wake up Lord Kane and tell him his friend Simon found something that he loves more than his own life wandering around town."

The servant opened the door more and glanced at him before his eyes fell on me. Then a sudden wave of realization hit, "I see! Come in. I will get him right away."

He stepped inside and waited while still holding me.

I spoke up, "Big brother. You can let me down now."

"Hmm. Maybe later. I would like to see how your father reacts."

This?! This crazy man!! My father's going to flip out!!!

He laughed at my reaction. I wanted to hit my head against the wall. He's definitely doing this on purpose.

My father walked in with a serious expression, "Now what is this about... I was just about to fall asleep."

Simon smiled at him, "Kane! Why are you still up? Perhaps you can't sleep without that mistress of yours in your arms?"

Oi! F*cker! There is a child right here!

My father chuckled, "Ahahaha! That certainly would help. But why are you-" He froze when he noticed me in his arms. I gave a forced smile and waved.

Then it was as if a volcano exploded from his head. He started shouting, "YOU F*CKER! YOU PUT MY BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER DOWN BEFORE YOU TAINT HER! WHY THE HELL ARE YOU EVEN HOLDING HER?! DID YOU STEAL HER OR SOMETHING?!"

Simon chuckled, "Calm down Kane. Why would I steal her and bring her back?!"

My father rushed over and grabbed me away. He held me far away from him as if he was honestly worried that I would be tainted. He put me down on the ground and stood in between me and Simon.

"I KNEW YOU WERE A NO GOOD BASTARD! YOU COULDN'T HELP BUT KIDNAP HER SINCE SHE'S SO ADORABLE!"

I rubbed my temples from his booming voice. He's definitely going to wake up the whole house. Sure enough, people started sticking their heads into the main hall out of curiosity.

This only made Simon laugh more, "Kane. Why so aggressive? Didn't your servant tell you? I said I found her wandering around town. A young girl like her shouldn't be out that late at night."

He shouted, "WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY F*CKER?!"

He then turned to me and his voice changed to a softer tone, "Is he telling the truth baby girl? Or did he really kidnap you?"

My mouth dropped at his sudden change in personality. One minute he was screaming and the next he was speaking to me in that baby voice of his.

I smiled at him, "He didn't kidnap me Daddy."

He then looked over at my face and turned my head. He looked at my cheek with an intense stare. His eyes flared back up, "DID THIS F*CKER HIT YOU?!"

I realized my face must have still been red from the hard slap I received earlier. I didn't notice it even stinging and held it unconsciously.

My father held out a fist to Simon, "YOU'RE GOING TO DIE SIMON!"

I sighed and grabbed my father's fist. "Daddy! Stop! It wasn't him! It was someone else!!"

"WHO?! I WILL KILL THEM!"

I whined, "I don't know!!! It was just some random drunk man. Just ignore it Daddy... Please? Besides it's alright! I'm fine. See? I was saved by a homeless man."

Let's just not mention that technically I used his almost dead body to hide behind.

He picked me up and started assulting me with cheek kisses. I tried to hide my disgusted face.

"BABY GIRL!! DADDY'S SO SORRY HE WASN'T THERE TO SAVE YOU!"

"What is all of the screaming about down here?" My mother walked down the stairs with a pissed off face.

Simon bowed, "Lady Sharon."

She paused at this and looked at him. She hesitated on the stairs, not knowing if she should retreat or not. Finally, she forced herself down and bowed, "General Simon. For what honor do we have to receive your visit?"

My father spoke to her setting me down once more, "THIS F*CKER WAS HOLDING SERI SAYING HE FOUND HER RUNNING AROUND IN TOWN!"

My mother looked shocked, "Husband! Watch your mouth!! Do you want Seri to start cursing like that as well?!"

He quickly stopped himself. He turned to me with a serious expression, "Don't talk like Daddy."

I chuckled. I couldn't admit that I have said far worse things before.

My mother looked at me with an angry expression, "Were you really out in town?"

"Uhhhh." I glanced at all of their faces and realized there was no way I could get away with it. I hung my head, "Yes..."

My mother sighed and held her face. She looked at Simon and bowed, "Thank you General Simon for bringing her home. We really can't thank you enough."

He smiled at her, "It was my pleasure. I have never met such an interesting person before. You are really lucky to have her as your child."

A strange look crossed my mother's face. It looked as if she heard something peculiar that also seemed to frighten her. Whatever it was gave me a dark forboden feeling.

She fixed her face quickly, "I'm honored that you think that."

My father crossed his arms in anger, "Of course she's interesting. She's my daughter."

Simon chuckled at this, "Well. I shouldn't keep you up any longer."

My mother smiled at him, "Thank you again. We will be in touch soon to thank you properly."

I saw a disturbing look cross his face. It was so short lived that most people wouldn't have noticed. However, I wasn't like most people. I managed to catch it and it chilled me to my core.

He spoke, "I look forward to that."

I smiled at him and waved as he was walking out. I decided to add more gas to the fire. "Goodbye big brother! Thanks for teaching me about sex and prostitutes!"

My father exploded once more, "YOU F*CKER!!! YOU DID WHAT?!"

He shrugged, "What is it? She asked so I answered."

My father chased after him, "I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!"

However, Simon had already climbed onto Dex and started speeding away. My father tried to keep running after him but finally gave up. He came back inside still fuming.

I chuckled to myself and turned to walk upstairs. I felt someone grip my shoulder. I looked up to see my mother's irritated face.

"You insolent girl. What did you do?"

My father pulled her hand off and flashed her a warning glare, "Don't speak to her like that."

My mother huffed, "How could you be on her side even though she snuck out?"

He ignored her and looked at me, "Seri.. Darling... What exactly were you doing in town this late without permission or an escort?"

My mouth went dry. I can't very well say it's to buy an adult romance novel. However, my parents were both staring at me demanding a reason. I couldn't think of anything clever on the spot so I blurted out the first thing that came to mind.

"I WAS RUNNING AWAY FROM HOME!"
