Chapter 431 - The Scum Is Changed

Usually, Wu Ran wouldn't turn back since he knows that it's just the enemy's trick to distract him. But, this is Cheng Sheng, who is an unpredictable opponent. So, he turned. And, he is right to turn back. He saw three people standing behind him. 

They are Chen Han, Wu Yuan and Fei Lin. "You – " he gnashed his teeth, only to suddenly grunt when they pulled him and then threw him away! But, before he could react, the three people started attacking him, never showing him any gap to counterattack! 

If this was before, he would be able to easily fend them off and even injure them. But, right now, he has exhausted all of his power. 

"You bastards! Don't get too cocky!!!" he shouted when he was finally able to counterattack! 

But, Chen Han, Wu Yuan and Qian Tian are unstoppable. Not only they have recovered, but their opponent has also weakened. 

Cheng Sheng saw Chen Han, Wu Yuan and Fei Lin attacking Wu Ran and he smiled. Then, he slowly closed his eyes as his body fell forward. But, before he could fall, he felt someone catch him. He opened his eyes weakly and saw the cold face but gentle smile of Fei Yin. 

He blinked. Then, he saw Xie Lan's smiling face, and Fan Wen beside him. "Founder… shifu…" he called in a hoarse voice when he felt his eyes burned and his nose soured. He lowered his head to hide the pain in his eyes, but it exposed him through his tears that fell on the ground. "*sob" he clutched his aching chest with his right hand as he screamed. 

At the same time, Chen Han, Wu Yuan and Fei Lin made Wu Ran fall to the ground. Wu Ran was finally defeated. The flying dust and sand have settled, and the light from the sun pierced their eyes. They were able to finally see again the clear, blue sky that brings them hope. But, what they have lost, they can never regain. 

In the Stop By Town, the owner of the medicine shop peeked from the window when he heard the people outside gossiping. He saw in the distance that, before the large cloud of dust and sand afar disappeared, a light has flashed in the sky. 

He waited for the sun shower, but it didn't come. Instead, he heard a rustling sound behind him. he turned and saw the child slowly opened his eyes and raised his head, meeting his gaze, 

Suddenly, he felt an unnerving feeling. But, when he blinked, it was suddenly gone. He looked at the child who looked normal. "You've woken up." He spoke. 

The boy didn't answer. 

The old man suddenly felt nervous. This child isn't a mute, is he? He thought. He remembered the righteous cultivators that came to his shop and entrusted the child to him after the child's mother died. He sighed and shook his head. 

Leave it be. He can't let the child experience any more loss. He thought and left to cook something for the child. 

Meanwhile, the child who was left was still for a moment before he moved. He got off the couch and walked towards the door and opened it. Then, he gazed at the sky for a long time. It was as if he is looking at something beyond it, but he doesn't know what is it. 

"Hey, boy." The old man called from the kitchen. "Come help me cook out dinner." He said. 

The child didn't answer. 

"Boy?" the old man called and peeked from the kitchen. "Right. I don't know your name, so I don't know what to call you." He said as he looked at the child. "What's your name?" he asked. 

The child was silent for a while before he turned and looked at the old man. "My name is – "

He really loves Chen Shen and was very happy when Chen Shen was born. Even when Chen Shen grew up being average and silent, he was teasing him, wanting for him to be a lively person.

Until Chen Shen ran away from home. He was shocked and looked all over the continent to find him. They used different devices to look for him, like Soul Locator, but to no avail. They never thought that his soul was already replaced. 

He had used up all his money and foods and he collapsed in Xinfaxian, a new land. He didn't expect to finally find his younger brother, only to be shocked to see him acting different. He can't accept the fact at first, until he challenged him and was stunned to find out that his younger brother is like a different person. 

That night, he easily escaped from his binding and followed Cheng Sheng, only to hear his monologue. 

"Damn it. Who was that guy? So, this body's owner has a family? Well, I should have expected that. The owner of this body looked very healthy, but delicate. So, he's a young master… yikes. I should shape this body up!" 

Chen Han was stunned. He's not his younger brother! Someone possessed his younger brother! He thought. Discovering this, he was heartbroken and ran back home, completely being misunderstood by Li Tian and Feng Mo as feeling depressed after losing to Cheng Sheng. 

Cheng Sheng, actually, discovered Chen Han last night and purposefully spoke those words to make him give up. 

In the guise of closed-door cultivation, Chen Han secretly sneaked in Xinfaxian again, hoping to find Cheng Sheng's weaknesses and if he can retrieve his younger brother. But, years passed and he saw that his younger brother has already disappeared. 

Where could he be? He thought. For the first time, he had a self-doubt. My brother was a taciturn child. If he can be like this now – like Cheng Sheng… he thought. However, he didn't expect for Cheng Sheng himself to erase his self-deception. 

"I didn't intend to steal your younger brother's body, nor replace him. I knew he belonged to a clan after seeing his belongings. Do you think, if I am an opportunist… well, I am. But I have my bottom line. I should have gone to your clan and act as your younger brother. However, I didn't. I don't want to replace your younger brother, so don't replace him with me in your mind and heart. Your younger brother died, thus my soul possessed his body and made him alive again. I don't know where his soul had gone, but I respect him and am grateful of him, thus I don't want you to forget him." Cheng Sheng said. 

"Who are you?" he asked. 

"That, I want to know, too." Cheng Sheng answered. 

Xie Lan, hiding, heard Cheng Sheng's answer, and then he silently left. 

When he returned to Youxiwang Sect, his father called for him. 

"Dad. You found out." Chen Han said. 

"Why didn't you tell me?" Chen Jing asked Chen Han. His face is dark. He was suspicious of Cheng Sheng. 

"Will you kill him?" Chen Han looked at his father. "Will you let Ah Shen die… again?" he asked. "Ah Shen lives with him… I won't let you kill him." He told him and left. 

"It's our neglect Ah Shen died." Chen Jing said when he heard Chen Qing's sobs behind him. 

"Ah Shen… I'm sorry – " she cried.

Chen Han looked at Wu Ran before him. Then, he raised his head to look at Cheng Sheng, only to see him surrounded by the Xinfaxian Sect disciples, including Li Tian who has finally woke up after being exhausted from healing them. A smile formed in his lips.

"I am here to avenge my uncle." Fei Lin said.

"I am here to avenge my shifu." Wu Yuan said.

"Hahahahaha…" Wu Ran laughed after losing the battle. He laid on the ground, losing blood very quickly after he sustained multiple deep wounds from the three. Then, his gaze fell on the silent Chen Han. "What about you?" he asked. "Cheng Sheng avenged Fei Yin. What about you?" he looked at him. "You want to avenge your shifu?" he asked again when Chen Han didn't answer.

Everyone looked at Chen Han, except Cheng Sheng who is the only one unconscious.

"I am here…" Chen Han spoke. "To avenge the broken bond between us master and disciple." He answered as he stabbed Wu Ran, together with Wu Yuan and Fei Lin, in the heart.

Wu Ran watched them before a faint smile appeared on his lips. His hands unclenched, and something rolled away from his hand. At the same time, a light flashed in the sky.

Cheng Sheng, in his subconsciousness, felt himself floating. He can't see his body, nor feel it. Suddenly, amidst his subconsciousness, he heard someone… or something speaking in a cold and mechanical voice. He thinks it feels familiar, yet at the same time, not.

"Eliminating the bug, complete. Main system, scanning, complete. Auto-repair, starting. Complete. Main system re-launching... complete. Successful. New program launching... starting..."

Before Cheng Sheng could react, he felt his subconsciousness was pulled away.
