Chapter 268 - The Scum Is Selfish

"Kill each demonic cultivator you see! Even if they are only working with Qi Ling, but that doesn't justify their atrocious crimes!" Zheng Fu Gong said. 

"Yes!" everyone answered as they left the Yunxiao Inn and advanced. 

"Jing Cheng, Jing Bai, Jing Hei, Jing Kang!" Jing Rui called. "Clear Cheng Sheng's path!" he said. 

"Yes!" the four young masters answered. 

"Xiao Sheng, xiao Yin, watch out!" Xie Lan yelled and threw his sword when a group of demonic cultivators leapt from the roofs. 

"Founder!" Cheng Sheng turned back and threw a talisman to Xie Lan. Xie Lan caught the talisman and ignited it. 

CLANK! The demonic cultivator's sword hit the barrier that came out of the talisman. "Go!" Xie Lan yelled. 

"Let's go!" Cheng Sheng told Fei Yin. 

Chen Han, Wu Yuan and Sun Yi saw the demonic cultivators afar are running atop the roofs and are coming their way. The three of them intercepted them as they leapt above the roofs. 

"Ha." Cheng Sheng sighed as he and Fei Yin continued to run while Jing Cheng, Jing Bai, Jing Hei and Jing Kang killed the demonic cultivators that are attacking them in the ground. Meanwhile, Zheng Fu Gong, Jing Rui and Xie Lan are protecting their back. 

Everyone is working very hard. They can't fail! 

Xinfaxian Sect, Xinfaxian, East. 

"Be careful." Fan Wen told Li Tian, Feng Mo and Lei Ling as the three of them stepped into the array while carrying the unconscious Zheng Yi. 

Li Tian, Feng Mo and Lei Ling nodded. "Yes, shifu!" they answered. 

Li Tian turned to Su Yuan and Pai Lie. "Elder Su. Elder Pai. Please look after our shifu, and the people in the Xinfaxian. Please be reassured, everyone is now working hard in Zhongyang." He told them and smiled before the four of them disappeared.

Fan Wen sighed and then turned away, feeling a little lonely. Su Yuan and Pai Lie looked at each other. They could see Fan Wen is greatly worried about Xie Lan and their disciples. They were about to speak, but then an array suddenly lit up. 

Pai Lie and Su Yuan immediately turned, only to see Xi Ming appeared. "Eldest young master Xi!" they exclaimed. 

Fan Wen immediately turned. "Eldest young master Xi. What brought you here?" he asked. 

Xi Ming was taken aback by seeing Su Yuan, but then he immediately regained his calm as he greeted the three elders. "Elder Su, elder Pai. Elder Fan – " he called and bowed before he stoop upright. His gaze landed on Fan wen. "Elder Fan. Something happened to Shanliangde Sect." he said with a heavy expression. "Everyone found out that Mu Jun, sect leader Fei's confidant, is a demonic cultivator and our grandfather wanted to remove sect leader Fei from the sect leader's position, and pay with his life." He told them. 

Su Yuan and Pai Lie were shocked. "This isn't the time for internal conflicts!" they said. 

Xi Ming nodded in agreement. "However, it's not only that. Sect leader Fei really attempted suicide. But, before he could do it, Mu Jun took him away, along with the demonic cultivators in the North." He said. "Sect leader Fei's life and death is unknown." He shook his head. 

They fell silent. 

"Our grandfather wanted to usurp the sect leader position, but from somewhere, a demonic cultivator appeared and gravely injured him." Xi Ming continued. "The sect leader position fell on elder Fei's shoulders. However, he refused it. Then, the other elders of the sect pushed the position to my uncle, but uncle also refused it." He told them. 

"Why are you telling this to me?" Fan Wen asked, and suddenly he felt a foreboding feeling. 

"The elders of the Shanliangde Sect wanted to elect sect leader Xie to the sect leader position of the Shanliangde Sect." Xi Ming said and respectfully bowed. 

Su Yuan and Pai Lie were shocked. "Are they insane?!" they said. However, Xi Ming didn't answer. 

"Xie Lan is the Xi family's eldest young master, not Xi Ming. Xie Lan is Xi Ling's eldest brother, and he changed his surname for me." Fan Wen explained. 

Su Yuan and Pai Lei were stunned. 

"Tell them, I, as Xi Lan's legal partner, will decided on his behalf. And the answer is 'I refuse'." Fan Wen told Xi Ming. 

Xi Ming stood upright and sighed in relief before he smiled. "Elder Fan, this disciple understands your intention." He told him. 

"… is there anything else?" Fan Wen asked when he saw Xi Ming's hesitation. 

"Actually, elder Fan. The elders of the sect also told me something." Xi Ming suddenly hesitated. "Elder Fei and my uncle also supported it." He added. 

"What is it?" Su Yuan and Pai Lie curiously asked. 

However, before Xi Ming could answer, a voice spoke. "I refuse." It was Sun Rong. 

Su Yuan and Pai Lie turned to him in shock. That's right! Sun Rong is from the Sun family! However – 

"I am just an ordinary person." Sun Rong smiled. 

"… alright." Xi Ming wearily sighed. 

Fan Wen stared at him. "If Fei Lin refuses, Xi Ling refuses, and Sun Rong refuses… for sure, xiao Yin will also refuse the sect leader position." He said when he remembered Fei Yin. "The sect leader position will fall on your shoulders. However, you don't look happy." He said. 

"Who would?" Xi Ming said before he apologized for his rude answer. "Everyone in the sect only wanted to cultivate and nothing else. If not for this calamity, everyone wouldn't come out." He said. 

They all fell silent as they also know it. 

"Only my grandfather wanted the sect leader position, yet he is dying. Elder Fei and my uncle only wanted to live a peaceful life. I only wanted to take care of my siblings." Xi Ming spoke with grievance in his voice. "They're all so selfish!" he finally can't help but say as he sat on the ground and tiredly sighed. 

You Rou and Lei Qing who are silently listening gave him a cup of water. 

"How about Ho Yue?" Su Yuan and Pai Lie asked. 

"Elder Ho is not a person of Shanliang." Xi Ming answered. 

"Then…" they looked at each other. The Shanliangde Sect has run out of choices to elect a sect leader. "Only Fei Huang fits. But, he was driven out." They said. 

"Second young master Fei is one generation older than me, but since we're not related, so I can't call him my uncle. If the sect is finally driven into a corner, they would elect him for the position." Xi Ming said and looked at Fan Wen. 

Fan Wen shook his head. "Xiao Yin will never leave xiao Sheng." He told him. 

"What if they'll get married?" Xi Ming asked. 

"Xiao Yin will be marrying xiao Sheng, not the other way around." Fan Wen answered. "Xiao Yin will never be going back to Shanliang." He told him. 

Xi Ming sighed. "I don't want to, either!" he said. However, his siblings are in Shanliang. "I think I can leave Shanliang." He muttered. 

"Huh?" 

"Xi Ning is loved by the family, and Xi Shi is always competing against Xi Ning. I only have Xi Xing to look after to, and it is possible I can take him out of the sect!" Xi Ming's eyes brightened. 

Everyone. "…" you're also talking selfishly now. They thought and looked at each other. Xi Ming must have finally been driven mad by the Shanliangde Sect that's why he can speak such words. 

"Yes. I'll propose it to them! I'm taking Ah Xing with me!" Xi Ming said and rose from the ground before he bowed to them. "Elder Fan. I've finished delivering the sect's message to you, so I'll be excusing myself!" he said and bowed to Su Yuan and Pai Lie who still can't react to his sudden change in attitude before he disappeared from their sight.

Sun Rong laughed. "Everyone in the Shanliangde Sect is selfish, including me. You can rarely see one that isn't." he told them before he left. 

They all fell silent. Sun Rong left his sect to become a businessman. Now, he only cares about two people: Sun Yi and Qie Shi. They looked at each other before they left. They aren't a part of the Shanliangde Sect, so their matter doesn't affect them. 

The cup of water that Xi Ming left had gone cold after it was left on the ground.

Zuo Zhe watched as Yu Sheng helped Li Tian, Feng Mo and Lei Ling carry Zheng Yi to a couch. He sighed as he typed on his system: Yu Sheng is so handsome in anything he does. But, I also feel distressed because he can't live in peace.

Zuo Zhe laughed. I just hope this calamity will finally end. He thought in his heart and smiled as he watched Yu Sheng and the others silently prayed for Cheng Sheng and the others' success.
