Chapter 108 - Come Out and Play

Hung Guangjian glared at the photo of the broken mask. Hearing Li Yunru's claims seemed to jibe with Ruan Jin's conversation with the ghost girl. However, the detective refused to delve deeper into this. His job was to find people responsible for it… not uncovering more and more myths.

He only took out his phone and asked Li Yunru to send the recording to him as well as the photo of the mask. For now, he gathered enough proof that men could easily enter the place. All the other evidence would make sense now that they also gained an important piece in their investigation…

A name! Shao Yi!

Both males, Ruan Jin and Li Feng, positively identified Shao Yi as a person involved in both the girls and the secret route. If they found Shao Yi and compared his DNA to the ones salvaged in the crime scene, they could build a 'real' case… well, something 'more real' than Liu Xiaodan's at least.

Li Feng and Li Yunru were then released from the interrogation, and Mian Tianyu walked with them. Listening in this interrogation had also given him an insight into what to expect in the girl's dorm. Not only was it in a place of negativity, but also a den of other unsightly things that ghosts feasted on.

If he was asked, he wasn't surprised that the girl's dorm would be plagued with spirits of different nature. Minus Guangru's coming to their place, it was very reasonable that the so-called residents would elevate their powers over time.

"I can't believe they're taking photos of us while we're..." Li Feng sighed with indignance. "How many photos of me were distributed?"

"We get mostly five per visit so… calculate." Li Yunru only hummed as she fiddled with her phone as they walked. She had an entire photo album dedicated to Li Feng's scandalous bribe photos, but she didn't want Li Feng to cry from the count.

Not only was he the most sought-after among the young masters who would come to them, but he was reportedly the sweetest man in bed. If Li Yunru was honest about the circulating news, Li Feng was the only one who didn't seem to be won by raffles—his girls were carefully selected.

Of course, Li Feng was not doing most of those because he wanted to. If anything, he really didn't even want to be as loose as people would think of him. He just needed to gauge the nightly ghost activities in the girl's dorm; however, it was at the expense of nude photos circulating the girl's dorm.

An expense he didn't think he would be billed with.

The man's head began to hurt as he weighed the consequences of showing up at Ting tomorrow or not. Too many things were there to hate about Ting. Then again, since he wanted to finish the senseless hauntings in the dorms, he decided to come with his grandfather nonetheless.

Consider it his ticket to freedom from Ting's grasps.

The oven dinged, and Chuan Nayi was waiting for her mother for dinner. She couldn't cook on the stove in her state so she just baked something in their oven. Even if she was having a strange flashback while using the oven, she decided to focus on the reality that it was chicken… not Huang Kun.

She was cutting the roasted chicken as she thought about the events in their school. Her former friends were now facing such a big event where one of them could just suddenly die from a ghost attack. Chuan Nayi herself knew how terrible it was to be in the shoes of the victims.

It's just that… she could find a sliver of coldness in her heart… to simply not care about it. She was already kicked out like Li Feng and Liu Xiaodan, but she didn't seem to have plans to continue studying. She might have great grades and a sliver of talent, but she chose not to relive a life filled with regret.

There was no reason for her to continue minding about her old school and the people that left her along the way.

"I wonder what Xiaodan is thinking tonight..."

"Achoo!"

Liu Xiaodan used his hand to cover his nose. His neighbors at their table began asking him if he was feeling cold and all like a bunch of mothers and fathers worried about their son. Liu Xiaodan only brushed it off and continued eating after wiping his hand against his pants.

For some reason, the deafening silence in his head was forcing memories to flood right back in. Liu Xiaodan was currently serving his sentence, and he had no idea if he would ever leave this place. He kept on choosing to look into the future than deal with the haunting smiles of a woman.

Chuan Nayi's face and voice started to surge in his mind ever since he started thinking about her last night. He was worried sick about her even though he had no idea how he could still feel her fears and faintly hear the screams of her heart. She was not Li Feng who had Liu Xiaodan's blood in his body…

She only had Liu Xiaodan's love.

"Big Brother!" Mango sprouted from behind and wrapped her arms around Liu Xiaodan again. "Big Brother, will you eat with Mango?"

"I'm almost done though. Haven't you eaten yet?" Liu Xiaodan chuckled as he tried to break free from her hold gently. He really felt uncomfortable being held by other women than the only one he wanted to hold as well.

"No, no, Mango wants to eat with Big Brother..."

"Erm, okay. I have to go eat with her. I don't want anyone to starve." The man, who sounded like a filial son, only chuckled. Everyone was even confused if he was the same man who massacred live humans.

The eyes of the nurses and guards were on the two. They all knew that Mango was an extreme escapist who used sensual p.l.e.a.s.u.r.es to get by while Liu Xiaodan was tagged by security. Since both were rather behaved in their own ways, they were not chained and sat down like they planned earlier…

Actually, Captain planned to do just that. He was only overturned by someone of a higher rank.

For now, Six and Seven could only watch him intensively as if wary of him becoming dangerous at any given moment. None of them believed that Liu Xiaodan would only 'erupt' when threatened… or when threatening another spirit harming a human.

Lights out had come, and Liu Xiaodan was seated on his bed. He was changing out of his clothes when he heard scratches against his door. Since Old Xiong wasn't alarmed, he only went to his door to check. The doors weren't necessarily locked, but the nurses were aware every time they opened.

When he did, he was surprised when Mango turned up at his doorway. Her smile was a little different from earlier, her eyes almost watering as if begging for help.

"Uh, what is it?" Liu Xiaodan was holding onto his shirt with one hand and tried to play it cool. He didn't have the kind of body to make women water, and most college girls actually would shame men from school about those. The influence of the young masters was too strong in their ideals.

Of course, Liu Xiaodan was a reserved person who rarely rebelled. Just because he chose to slaughter people didn't mean that he wouldn't be conscious of his own skin anymore.

"Big Brother… Mango is scared..."

She stepped inside and embraced Liu Xiaodan who stepped back but to no avail. He only closed the door, sensing the strange aura coming from Mango's body. For some reason, it was like a perfume that was luring Liu Xiaodan to get closer… more than he ever had…

Mango lifted her face and seductively smiled at Liu Xiaodan. Liu Xiaodan only looked down at her while feeling her warm body underneath her thin dress.

"How did you get here? Did you hide and escape the guards?" The man asked, but she only responded with a giggle. He was then pulled to the wall, the girl putting herself in between him and the wall of his room.

"Big Brother… aren't you feeling lonely?" Mango smiled and laughed, but her eyes were telling him something else. Beneath the smiles was a soul begging for help.

It was there again, and it was out to harm her.

Liu Xiaodan only smiled kindly and stroked at Mango's cheek. This action was easily misinterpreted by the girl, and she stretched out her neck to peck at Liu Xiaodan's lips. However, a hand covered her face. Her eyes widened in surprise as she seemingly froze at the rejection…

It was as if she was so scared of her advancements being rejected.

"No, Mango. You wouldn't need to do this anymore." Liu Xiaodan deepened his smile, but his overall aura started to change.

The look in his eyes began to lose its life and light while the feel of his skin grew very cold. Meng Guo was suddenly reminded of her job as her hands were used to touching them. The skin was still soft and complete, and yet nothing else was inside. No heartbeat, no rushing blood… nothing.

A corpse…

Meng Guo's eyes quivered as she stared right in the eyes of a man who seemed to be a moving dead body under the dim light of their white soundproofed room. The cold temperature seeped into the room and made her breath mist, and her heart had begun to race in terror.

Liu Xiaodan slowly moved his hand off of her face and used both hands to cradle the woman's head. His hands raked through her hair, the cold digits making her body shiver involuntarily. More when Liu Xiaodan closed in and whispered in her ear.

"I know you're in there. Why don't you come out and play?"
