65 Last Chance

His heart aching, Reiko lay down near Yinxin, wearily he rested his head on his front paws, the little wyrmling he had met in the passageways curled up next to him. The cavern was quiet, only the labored breathing of Yinxin could be heard.

After a couple of minutes, Reiko couldn't bear silence anymore, opening up his bond with Jayde he said.

[The ironic thing is, silver dragons were the guardians of Doha, they were the attendants of Ala, the guardian spirit of Doha, they protected all beasts and humans, and healed the earth when needed, legend says that when the last silver dragon on Doha died, that is what caused the Great Cataclysm which led the splitting of the realms, it was Ala's punishment for murdering her heralds.]

From the previous soul's memories, Jayde knew the stories of the Great Cataclysm, legend had it that all the realms of Doha use to one world, then something terrible happened, and the world was torn asunder, creating the different realms. There were different versions about what happened some said that a terrible tyrant came into power. He and his army waged a terrible war against all the races of Doha, and when he was defeated his final vengeance was to tear the world apart, other believed it was the gods that did it to protect the weaker races while some believed that the gods tore the world apart as punishment for the sins of the races.

Jayde had her own hypothesis, she didn't believe that the realms were actually torn apart, but that each realm was a separate continent on Doha with strong magic wards keeping the people of each continent contained— it was either that or else something really terrible happened and the world was really torn apart and the Protoss must have intervened, with their technology they could have created small worlds to save the people of Doha.

She would love to get her hands on maps of each realm to see if she was right. Pity, she couldn't find a way into space and view this planet from there, she thought.

Thinking over Reiko narration about the silver dragons and their role in the Great Cataclysm gave Jayde a bad premonition.

[Reiko, do the silver dragons have the same role here on Telia as they did on Doha, and does Telia have a world guardian spirit as well?]

If Reiko version was right, and Yinxin and her wyrmlings died, would Telia also face a cataclysm like Doha? If that happened she and Reiko were in terrible danger, her return slip was still black, and according to legend when Doha experienced the Great Cataclysm, billions of people died. A million years later and Doha still hadn't recovered.

[No, Telia doesn't have a world guardian spirit, Yinxin ancestors were originally from Doha] Reiko replied.

[Huh? How is that possible?] Jayde asked.

Jayde wondered if one of the predecessors to the Protoss Divine System had somehow been involved.

[According to Yinxin, a long time ago on Doha her ancestors were attacked during the battle, there was a huge explosion, and when her ancestors awoke they were here on Telia, only twenty silver dragons out of hundreds in the battle made it here. Humans were scarce on Telia at that time, so the silver dragons had over nine hundred thousand years of peace. Over that time, their numbers increased to a couple of thousand, but in the last couple of thousand years humans started to hunt them]

Jayde was really surprised that the dragon, whose head was lying on her lap was a descendant of the original silver dragons of Doha. Somehow that made the whole scenario even more heart rendering to her. They had beaten the odds, and survived the mass genocide on Doha, only to end up facing it again on Telia.

There had to be a way to save her, Jayde kept on going over the problem in her head. What Yinxin needed was energy, if only there was somehow to transfer energy to her, like you would do a blood transfusion she thought.

With that thought Jayde started to get excited, why couldn't she transfer her energy to Yinxin, while it might never have been done before — it didn't mean that it couldn't be done.

Feeling excitement bubbling up inside of her, she shared her idea with Reiko.

Reiko listened to Jayde explanation about blood transfusions, which he found really weird, and howJayde thought that she could transfer her energy to Yinxin. While the idea was strange and Reiko had no idea if it would work, he also felt that it was worth trying.

Opening his mind up to Yinxin he wanted to share Jayde idea with her but to his dismay, Yinxin had slipped into a coma, and he had no way to wake her. He informed Jayde about Yinxin coma.

Jayde and Reiko were really worried, time was running out — Yinxin did not have much time left, already Jayde could feel her vital signs dropping. Her body temperature was cooling rapidly.

Without wasting another second, Jayde put her hand on Yinxin forehead, then sending her consciousness into her own body, she tried to draw Qi energy from her dantian. There was only a single drop of liquid Qi stored in her dantian, she had used most of her stored Qi during her fight with the Direwolves, and the Qi she had stored was not sufficient at all.

Realizing that she could not draw anything from her dantian, she sent her magical senses out into the surrounding area, feeling the Qi around her, she pulled the energy to her, after absorbing it, she then directed the energy to her hands instead of her dantian. Then she tried to push the energy out of her hands into Yinxin, but no matter how hard she pushed the energy, it wouldn't leave her body.

Thinking hard she wondered if she absorbed the energy into her dantian first, and converted it into her own, would she have better luck, with that thought she then directed the energy from her hands to her dantian, as usual as soon as the energy entered her dantian, it converted into a golden liquid which dripped down to the bottom of her dantian. After a couple of minutes, Jayde had a couple of drops of pure energy liquid stored in her dantian.

Concentrating fully on her task, she tried to control the liquid in her dantian, to get it to move out of her dantian to her hands. Sweat dripped off Jayde face, but no matter how hard she pushed or pulled she could not move a single drop within her dantian.

Opening her eyes, Jayde stared at Yinxin in despair, she couldn't believe that she had failed, the idea had been so good, she had felt confident that she would succeed.

Was she really going to have to sit here at watch the last four silver dragons die in front of her?
