Chapter 168: unexpected guest

When Alex arrived at the backyard of the guest inn, he saw Katherine beating Drake up, there. Alex smiled at the sight of that, seeming to enjoy the company of his teammates. He walked close to the river there and sat down.

Adrian and Emma were about to begin, and Katherine had just finished dealing with Drake when someone unexpected, arrived at the backyard of the inn.

It was Duna, he had come there with his underlings, four of them. Xiao En was the one that directed them there.

Alex was surprised to see this but he didn't give it much reaction.

Drake quickly jumped into a battle stance because he thought that they were there for him. Katherine did the same when she saw Drake doing it.

Emma and Adrian just stood still and watched them. They knew that they couldn't fight in the guest inn unless they wanted to end up in the infirmary.

"They wanted to know where you were and since he paid for a room, I thought, why not?" Xiao En shrugged as she finished giving her reason for bringing them to where Alex was.

"We don't own the place anyway so no harm done," Alex replied and Xiao En left the place.

Duna had a smug smile on his face as he started to approach Alex who was still seated. As he moved closer to Alex, the seraphim team members also followed Duna and his underlings, by their side

Alex only raised a brow at Duna.

['These idiots came to have an early death.'] He thought to himself.

['Fortunately for them, we can't do anything here on the territory of the guest inn.'] Al said.

"Alexander," Duna called when he was just a few meters away from Alex.

Alex didn't answer him. He didn't even spare him a glance when he got closer.

"Arrogant as usual," Duna commented.

"At least I can afford to be arrogant, unlike others." Alex was looking at his fingernails as he answered him. "Why are you here and what do you want?!" Alex asked rudely.

"You little sh*t, our young master is speaking to you nicely and you dare to talk to him rudely!? Come fight with me, one on one and watch me teach you a lesson." One of Duna's underlings threatened.

Alex put his pinky finger in his ear and massaged it a little. "Can't you control your dog, it's barking way too much for my liking," Alex uttered.

"I'm no dog!" The underling retorted.

"Then quit barking," Alex smirked.

Alex's reply got his teammates laughing at Duna's underling.

"Join my team," Duna said to Alex.

Alex frowned at what Duna said and thought that he was crazy. "Did you hit your head before coming here or you ate the wrong thing?" Alex blurted out.

"You insolent-"

"Shut up!!" Alex bellowed at Duna's underling. He released his killing intent and directed it at the underling.

Everyone there felt the hair on their skin stand, including Alex's teammates. Alex's killing intent wasn't a common one. At the moment the temperature there was increasing and some of them started sweating.

Duna frowned when he felt this but he quickly erased that expression from his face. 'Is this the reason why big brother asked me to investigate him? I never expected something this monstrous from this weakling.' Duna thought.

Duna's underling did exactly as Alex told him to do, he kept his mouth shut. Despite the fact that his cultivation was higher than Alex's own, he was still intimidated by Alex's killing intent.

"Good doggy," Alex smirked at the underling.

'Seems like he really can afford to be arrogant. I need to stop looking at him as a weakling, he has always been arrogant from day one. My cultivation doesn't faze or scare him so there has to be something that is giving him that confidence. To properly investigate him I will need to have him where I can easily see him.

That's why I requested for energy crystals from grandfather so that I could get me a room here and keep an eye out on him.' Duna reasoned.

"Join my team and seek treasures for us exclusively, then I can assure you a spot for the continental competition." Duna made an offer.

'So that's why he's here, bloody fool.' Drake insulted in his head after he heard Duna's offer, he then scoffed.

Duna smiled and looked at Drake.

"Now I know why you chose him over me, if I was you I would have probably done the same. Someone that can find treasures and miracle fruits whenever he feels like it, who wouldn't choose a person like that over me.

Look at the result of your decision, with his help you have already made it to the disaster realm in such a short time." His smile disappeared and he glared at Drake.

"What do you think Alexander? My team has more to offer than this flimsy one that you are currently in." Duna added.

"Hmmm, you see, in my team, almost anything I say goes. So if I join your team will I be the one in charge?" Alex asked an unexpected question.

"Alex!!" His teammates were shocked to hear him say that.

He ignored their reaction to the question.

'Power-hungry fool,' Duna thought and smirked at Alex. "If that's what you want then yes. So as long as you find treasures for us, exclusively." Duna agreed.

"Then you and your underlings should disperse your team and join mine." Alex scoffed.

['This fool thinks that I'm naïve.'] Alex thought.

['Well, he's not wrong.'] Al chirped.

['Whose side are on?'] He questioned, a bit annoyed at what Al said.

['Yours, who else? I don't even have an alternative for that.'] Al assured him.

"You don't have regards or respect for your seniors." Duna was pissed now. He started walking closer to Alex.

His underlings were about to follow but a menacing gaze from Alex kept them in the spot that they were, only Duna continued forward.

Alex's teammates entered their battle stance, ready for anything that was going to happen. They didn't back away even when they knew that they weren't a match for Duna.

He is, after all, a nirvana realm cultivator and also a class-3 ancient bloodline bearer.

Duna stopped when he was 3 feet away from where Alex was sitting.

Even when Duna came so close, Alex still didn't spare him a glance.

"Join my team Alexan-"

"Go suck a d*ck and eat sh*t. I'm not joining your pack of dogs." Alex rudely interrupted him.

['Ohh!! Wouldn't have said it any better. Hahaha!!'] Al laughed.

Duna lost his cool and was about to attack Alex.

"If you attack me, know that you'll be spending a night in the infirmary instead of the room that you paid for here," Alex informed while he was still looking at his fingernails.

He didn't flinch when Duna was about to attack.

What Alex said calmed him down to the point that he didn't want to attack anymore, for now.

"Even when I'm in front of you, you refuse to look at me or even stare me in me the eye when you talk. Are you that scared of me?" Duna asked smugly. Trying to bait Alex into getting angry.

"The effrontery of this dog. I am sitting and you are standing, and you expect me to stress my neck and look into your dirty eyes? If you want to see my eyes then put your ass on the floor. You are not worthy enough for me to look up to." Alex retorted.

"You son of a bitch!!" Duna bellowed.

And that was it, that was the trigger, Alex snapped.

-Whoosh!!

He activated his fire bloodline ability and set himself on fire. His cultivation was raised to the 7th rank of the disaster realm. Before his alters or teammates could say anything to stop Alex, he attacked Duna.

-Bam!!

He hurled a punch at Duna. Duna wasn't expecting that, nonetheless, he was quick enough to catch Alex's hand in his palm.

"Alex!!" His teammates were shocked to see him do that.

As soon as Duna caught Alex's punch in his palm, he regretted it. The flames from Alex's hand was too hot for him to endure.

"Arrgh!!" He cried out in pain and sent a kick at Alex aiming for his head.

-Thum!!

Alex was quick enough to block it from connecting with his head. But the force from Duna's kick sent him flying.

Alex planted his legs on the ground and stopped himself from flying any further away.

"Arrgh!!" Duna cried out again, just that quick contact that his leg had with Alex was enough to set his shoe on fire.

He removed the shoe and threw it into the river. Duna looked at where Alex was standing over and saw the grass that he was stepping was fine and unhurt from the flames.

'His control is exquisite, f*ck, who is he.?' Duna thought in annoyance.

Alex was about to attack again.

['That's enough Alex.'] Lex uttered and Alex listened.

['The only reason I didn't stop you when you were insulting is because of where we are. If he attacked then he was going to be punished. Now that you attacked first, do you think that you can take him on?'] Lex pointed out the obvious.

['I know that what he said made you lose your cool but you have to stop for now. In time he will get what's coming to him.'] Lex added.

['Fine.'] Alex listened and retracted his flames. He glared at Duna.

"What, you are backing out now? I'm afraid that it won't be that easy to start a fight with me and stop before it has ended." Duna took a step forward and was about to charge at Alex when the steward appeared in front of him.

"Move an inch and I will rearrange your bones for you." The steward threatened with his usual smile and his eyes closed...
