Chapter 166: sharing the spoils

In the reception of the guest inn, the awkward tension in the air kept on increasing as no one said anything after what Arabella did.

Alex was the one that felt the most uncomfortable and awkward in Arabella's embrace. His hands were by his side, this wasn't something that he was used to. He was lost on what to do in that position.

"I'm glad that you are okay." Arabella brought her head backward and looked at Alex's eyes. When she saw the way he looked at her weirdly, she realized what she had just done.

"Eeeppp!!" She exclaimed and buried her head on his chest so that she could hide her face from the eyes of the rest.

Alex tried to push her off him but she didn't move an inch, after all, Arabella is stronger than he is.

Katherine watched this happen and she was about to say something. Even when Alex woke up in the infirmary she didn't have the chance to jump into his arms, but here was Arabella, doing it shamelessly.

As she opened her mouth to speak, she was interrupted by Drake. He used his hand to cover her mouth. "Let them be," He whispered.

Katherine caught his fingers and peeled his hand off her mouth. She bent them and looked at Drake with a threatening gaze in her eyes.

Drake seemed to have forgotten that Katherine was in the same cultivation realm and rank as him now. He skillfully set his fingers loose from her grip and backed away.

"The next time you interrupt me I'll make sure that eat fire and sh*t magma." She threatened.

"That's enough show of affection, love birds. Stop flaunting your filthy affection in my reception." Xiao En complained.

Alex looked at Xiao En and said; "For your information, we are not in love." Alex denied.

"Indeed. I choose to believe what I see." She pointed out.

"What you see is not always the truth," Alex retorted.

"Blah, blah, blah. Take this affection thing to your suite." Xiao En rolled her eyes.

Andrea and Camron chuckled at everything that had happened. Although Camron was a bit surprised that his sister did that.

Arabella wanted to put some distance between her and Alex but she was too embarrassed to do so. When she saw Alex, she ran towards him on impulse and only realized what she had done when she saw the weird expression on his face.

Alex tried to push her off his chest again, this time she came off him gently. Immediately she used her hair to cover her face that was already beetroot red from embarrassment.

Camron decided to break the tension.

"By the way, what are you guys doing here?" He asked and attempted to remove his sister's hair from her face.

-Tap!

Immediately Arabella slapped his hand off and hugged him instead. She buried her face in his chest. Seeing the way his sister reacted, Camron started laughing.

"We are here to talk business, although you said that we should till Alex was awake, my team members were against that. It is a good thing that Alex is awake now, we should head to your suite and talk about business there. It would be more suitable and comfortable to talk there." Andrea suggested.

Alex immediately understood what she was talking about. He understood that they still haven't shared the spoils that they got from the Tomb of Memories.

They did as she said and made their way to Alex's suite. When they entered, everyone grabbed a sit in the living room.

"I assume that they haven't shared the treasures with you guys yet, right?" Alex asked.

"Your assumption is on point," Andrea answered.

"We have already given your team your share of the merit points awarded for the mission. Now you guys have paid the debt you owe the school. But we still haven't given you guys the slots for the martial skills yet. We will do that after we have shared the treasures that you guys got from the tomb." She finished.

"Okay, let's show them what we got from the tomb guys," Alex said and his teammates removed everything that they got from the tomb and let them drop on the floor of the living room.

-Chink! Chink!

The sound of gold jewelry, gold coins, and high-density blue energy crystals stacking on the floor filled the room.

Andrea and Arabella stood up from their seats with their eyes wide open. They weren't expecting them to find this much. They watched as the seraphim team members continue to present them with the spoils of their exploration in the tomb.

This continued for about 2 minutes. By the time they stopped, Andrea fall back to her chair with a blank, expressionless face. "We're rich," She whispered as she stared at the ceiling of the living room.

Arabella fell to her sit too. "This is a lot." She sat up. "Did you guys empty the whole tomb?" She asked with a confused expression on her face.

"No, there's more. But we couldn't take more than we have." Camron answered.

"Why not? You should have told us about it before we left their headquarters. We would have helped get some more." Andrea asked.

Everyone in the seraphim team looked at Alex. Andrea and Arabella followed their gazes and looked at Alex too.

"Did you know that Lilith is the owner of these treasures?" Alex uttered.

Calling her name brought back the terrifying feeling that they felt when they saw her.

"No," Andrea and Arabella answered at the same time.

"Well, she owns them and she set a trap on them. If we had taken more than we did we might have died. Although I'm not sure of how much we could have taken, I didn't want to underestimate the abilities of someone from the celestial realm." Alex cleared out.

"If you want more you can go back and try your luck," Alex added.

"No, I don't even want to go back there." Andrea rejected.

"Did you guys get any memory fragments?" She questioned excitedly.

"Yeah, but we already used them. They weren't about martial skills or cultivation techniques. It was about the life of two brothers that Lilith knew and treated like family." Alex responded.

"Oh," Andrea said.

"What about miracle fruits, I don't see any. I'm guessing that they consumed one to reach the cultivation that they are in now." Arabella pointed at Adrian.

"Yeah, they did. But the miracles aren't part of what we will be sharing. We only found four of them, I haven't taken mine yet though." Alex said and brought the purple miracle fruit out.

"Trade with me," Andrea quickly offered.

"No, thank you." Alex rejected it as quickly as she offered it. "I also have a use for it. I can't be the weakest link of the chain in this team." He added.

Andrea sighed and looked at the spoils of their exploration, and once again she was stunned. "Can you tell me how you found these?" She was curious.

"Well…" Drake volunteered to give an explanation.

"Wow, Alex, you really are a treasure seeker. I think I would want you to accompany my team whenever we are going somewhere that might have treasures. And I'm also starting to regret not being in the same team with you." Andrea mentioned.

"I don't think I would make it a habit to join other teams on a mission just so I could search for treasures," Alex stated.

"I'm still wondering who started the rumor." He thought out loud.

"I think I know who did, but I'm not sure. Her attitude tells me that she was the one though." Arabella interjected.

"Who?" They chorused.

"Hinata, the staff and cultivator that is under Vincent." She revealed. "While we being debriefed, she kept on asking questions about you, and why you joined us on the mission. It was you, not your team. That was when I knew that something fishy was going on."

"I don't think I have done anything wrong to her." Alex placed a hand on his chin and scratched it as he went into his thoughts.

"Just be careful of her, although the school might be some kind of haven, it is not impossible to do what you want to do here. Cultivators are irrational people by nature…" Arabella warned.

"Let's get down to sharing these, 60:40?" Andrea inquired.

"No, 50:50. We already picked 4 miracle fruits, which should count for the 10." Alex answered.

"Nice," Andrea uttered and they began sharing the spoils.

"Alex," Katherine called out.

"Yeah?"

"Here's your sword, it fell when Lilith took you away." She handed him one of his twilight twin blades.

"Oh, thanks. I almost forgot about this. It is really priceless." He smiled at her and Katherine felt like had just achieved something amazing.

"So am I going to get rewarded for it?" She asked boldly.

Alex tilted his head that question. "What do you want as a reward?" He asked.

"A peck on the lips, a hug, or a flick on my head." Katherine shamelessly said.

Everyone in the room turned and looked at her like she was crazy. The smile on Alex's face was still there, but it looked forced.

"Here, have a green LD-EC instead." He threw it Katherine and ignored her reaction.

['You guys are awfully quite today.'] Alex thought when he noticed that his alters weren't saying anything. Especially Al, who liked to talk even when his opinion wasn't needed.

['Is that so?'] Al laughed awkwardly.

['Don't act weird with me, it only makes me suspect you guys more. I already know that you guys left out some information while telling me what happened before I passed out. The only reason that I didn't insist on knowing is because I trust you guys.'] Alex mentioned.
