Chapter 119 - Side Story 2-3

Chapter 119

Side Story 2-3

It’s been a while since I thought about the old days. Elnos raised his head, moistening his throat with the wine in his half-filled glass.

There were reliable ministers in the military council room. There were holes such as Schwalnon among them, but most of them had changed and there were many new faces.

They were all precious people who had been hired for their talent. Elnos spared no support for new talents, and the Harknon Empire developped more and more.

But Max kept drawing his attention. Sitting next to Hizen, who was calmly explaining the operation, Max looked excited for some reason. His eyes kept alternating between the door and the clock on the wall.

The average person would have thought he had a stomachache or an important appointment. But if it was Max, it was probably a different story.

Max was a good and thorough man. He could not have made such a mistake. Elnos believed it, even if he was not aware of it.

But he wanted to tease him. Elnos smiled wickedly without anyone noticing.

Right before the end of the meeting, Elnos raised his hand.

“Wait. There is more to discuss.”

“What?”

As expected, Max looked at himself with a ridiculous face. He even asked back. Elnos managed his facial expression with a strange sense of triumph.

It was also quite refreshing to pay back what Max had been doing these days. He had been a little dissatisfied that Blix had given him some control.

Elnos said the reason for the extension with smooth oiled words, and Max was truly frustrated.

He looked around just in case, but there was no imperial servant. This was because the military security had been strengthened after Elnos was crowned Emperor.

‘I can’t… I’m going crazy!’

Today was the day Max’s two sisters were coming to the capital. He could not even imagine what would happen if he did not pick them up.

Unlike the soft and compose Max, his younger sisters were playful, stubborn, and had terrible personalities. In particular, his first and second sisters were difficult to handle.

‘What’s going to happen?’

Max concentrated on the meeting, swallowing the ominousness.

Upon arriving at the capital, Blix sighed, looking at his blackened hands. His powers had not returned properly yet.

As a result, it was troublesome to ride a horse and his clothes became dirty. Blix lowered the hood of his filthy cloak and thought he would have to wash it in the shower of the Imperial Knights.

It might be a little shameless for him to use the shower room when he was not even a member of the Division. However, the Knights wanted Blix to use all their facilities, including the shower room, freely.

Ironically, Blix was called the second member of the Imperial Elite Knights. Thanks to Setchen, Max and his excellent skills, he easily became acquainted with the Knights.

Furthermore, the fact that he had helped Leasis was even more favorable. He did not mean to, but Blix gained new strength.

It was a little annoying, but he could not help it. Because Elnos liked it quite a lot. There was no reason for the Emperor to refuse having Blix closer to them.

‘It’s actually good.

The Imperial Elite Knights were like Leasis. They laughed a lot and had no prejudice. Mixing with them made him feel at ease.

Blix looked around and entered Liduré. He wanted to buy a gift for Leasis, who was pregnant, and for the Imperial Elite Knights.

Ding.

“Welcome!”

An employee welcomed him with the sound of the door opening. Blix nodded roughly and picked up a tray.

However, the employees cheered when they recognized Blix, whose face was revealed. He was the one who had protected Setchen in the gladiator tournament the other day.

“No, isn’t that the mercenary who helped our Young Master? Oh, my God!”

“Oh my! For how long has Grien-nim been searching for him after the competition?”

He had an ominous feeling for some reason. Blix was struggling with the employees when Grien approached.

She looked at Blix, who was like a son, with tears in her eyes. She clasped his embarrassed hands and said.

“Thank you. Thanks to you, Setchen managed to overcome it well.”

What is up with these people? Did they all take drugs together? Blix was embarrassed and raised his cloak to the top of his head.

I just have to get out. Blix turned around, thinking so. At that time, he heard the loud voice of a girl.

“Excuse me.”

“Yes, lady.”

Grien approached the customer at the speed of light. The girl, with her brown hair coming to her waist, sighed instead of choosing a macaron.

“If you run around like that, dust will rise. And could you please be quiet?”

“I’m sorry. I’ll be careful.”

“It’s all right.”

The girl picked macarons again, and the employees went back to their seats. Feeling sorry, Grien told Blix and the girl that they could have free macarons.

As things cleared up in an instant, Blix felt relieved. He chose macarons with ease and got out of Liduré.

With his hands full of macarons, Blix walked toward the long bridge between the Imperial Palace and the capital. But it seemed like someone was following him from behind.

When he turned his head a little, he saw the customer from the macaron store. She was a girl who was about the same height as him with macarons.

She felt familiar for some reason. He seemed to have already seen her brown hair and squirrel-like brown eyes somewhere.

‘Who is she?’

Blix tilted his head and entered the Imperial Palace. But the girl followed him. She continued even when he headed to the Imperial Elite Knights.

The fact that she showed her identification card to the guard made her not suspicious, but he was slightly concerned. The girl opened her mouth after feeling Blix’s persistent gaze.

“Excuse me. What are you looking at?”

The girl stopped walking. The light of the afternoon made her warm, brown eyes shine.

She was a girl with pretty eyes. The long eyelashes, the tail of her eyes, and her pupils were pretty. Blix looked at the girl in a daze without realizing it.

“Never mind. I’m not following you.”

Blix headed back to the Imperial Elite Knights. But the sound of the girl’s footsteps behind him was a bit interesting.

As soon as the meeting was over, Max rushed out of the room. Everyone was surprised by the loud sound of running footsteps and was wondering what was going on.

Elnos burst into laughter and lifted himself up. It was a small revenge, but he was thrilled. Considering what he had been through.

The ministers also put their seats in order. But Max had left too quickly and had dropped some documents on the floor.

Left alone, Elnos stared at them. If there were brought to a military meeting, they should be at least second-level security documents. They were now given for free, and it would be nice to use them to trade.

As he smiled like a devil and picked up the documents, he felt the gaze of a stranger. Elnos looked up in a hurry.

“Excuse me. When did the meeting end here?”

Who’s this? Elnos looked at the strange woman with ridiculous eyes. The girl, with short, brown hair down to her ears, had an ordinary face, and looked like a boy at first glance. She was not wearing a dress, but a shirt and pants.

But her eyes were unique. The light brown eyes looked wise and were not shaking. She looked a little stubborn with her straight nose and firm lips.

Elnos ignored her and organized the documents. She was surely a fool if she did not know who he was. He did not know what she was trying to do.

Should I kick her out or kill her? A bit worried, Elnos just sorted out the documents. It was clear that the imperial guards would take care of the situation.

“Your Majesty.”

“Please tell me.”

What? Elnos, who was organizing the documents, looked at the girl. Then the corners of her mouth went up and she smiled.

She had a mischievous face. Elnos frowned at the strange impression that was different from just before.

“Are you making fun of me?”

“Now please tell me. I asked first.”

‘Is she crazy? She’s like Max… Huh?’

Elnos frowned and opened his eyes wide. The image of the girl in front of him and Max overlapped. They were so similar that he could recognize him at once.

Is she really Max’s younger sister? According to the information he had, Max had a total of four younger siblings. Two sisters and two brothers.

Among them, the oldest daughter’s name was…

“Nice to meet you, Your Majesty. My name is Canyu.”

In the Commander’s office, Max’s face turned red. He glared at his two sisters on the sofa, and asked.

“Are you out of your mind?!”

“Oraboni.[1] I think you’re more out of your mind now than we are.”

“That’s right, that’s right.”

“You guys are so!”

His first sister, Canyu, and his second sister, Carien, smiled and put things on the table.

Canyu had the documents he had left in the military meeting room, and Carien had a pile of macarons from Liduré.

When he saw them, his blood pressure went up. Max could not stand it and sat on the sofa, touching his forehead.

He could not forget the scene from just before. After wandering around the capital all day long, Max had returned to his office and had doubted his eyes. His two younger sisters were with His Majesty and Blix, with whom he absolutely did not want them to get involved.

Max reacted as if he had seen the end of the world.

[W-W-W-What! What are you doing right now?]

He was furious to see his two younger sisters threatened. But the younger sisters gave him a blow by answering.

[We were playing well, why?]

You’re playing! You guys almost died! Max struggled to contain his bubbling insides and puffed.

He stressed out his words, repeating them several times to his two sisters.

“Canyu, you’ll be waiting for the results of your administration application at the mansion for the time being. Carien, you’re going to have an imperial cooking contest starting tomorrow, so pay special attention!”

“Yes, Oraboni.”

“Yes, Oppa.”

“Anyway, never get involved with those two!”

“Don’t worry.”

You’re good at answering! Max glared at his two mischievous sisters.

TL notes

[1] ‘Oppa’ and ‘Oraboni’ both mean ‘big brother’. They can only be used by a girl/woman to address an older boy/man. ‘Oraboni’ is old Korean. I kept the Korean words because a part of Chapter 120 would not be understandable otherwise.
