Chapter 412 - Rainbows and Unicorns

Qing Chen dreaded this day. He had to go and meet La Hiena again—the infamous drug supplier of many countries. He was in low spirits because he didn't want to talk to this man anymore. The only thing that made this night better was the thought that this would be the last time that they were going to see each other.

Hopefully, Qing Chen added as a thought.

Who knew how this night would end? He was wishing that it would be bloodless but there was no measuring the temper of La Hiena. Nevertheless, they came prepared with a whole convoy of men and some littered the area as scouts.

They had the upper hand as La Hiena probably never thought that Qing Chen was going to do what he's about to do.

"Chen, there's still some time to back out of this," said Qing Lok. "I honestly don't think this is going to be a wise decision."

Qing Chen only sighed as he played a puzzle game on his phone while waiting. "I'm not going to back out."

"Leave him be," said Wuming who was reclined against the leather seat. "It's his decision. Besides, I think it will do us good. It will do a lot of good to others as well."

"I don't think so," said Qing Lok. He sounded nervous, not nervous in a way that he thought that they were going to die. Nervous for something in the future. "What if we lose Chengshi over this?"

"We don't need Chengshi," Qing Chen said. "Didn't I make it clear that I am going to change things in the mafia?"

Qing Lok had always been against the change in the mafia from the beginning. But Qing Chen was not going to be swayed by it. He knew what he needed to do.

They had to step out of the shadows if they wanted to live peaceful and normal lives (or as normal as it could get, at least). After being held off by different circ.u.mstances, they were finally taking their first leap.

"Not everything has to change, Lok," said Qing Chen. "We will still keep some of our businesses. But not this. Never this. I had never been a fan of this side of Enigma. I can't do it anymore."

Qing Lok stayed on his side of the car and was pinching his nose and lips together while staring out at the moon outside.Find authorized novels in , faster updates, better experience, Please click #'s-rose-married-the-ceo_15939261805465305/rainbows-and-unicorns_52389603675529284 for visiting.

"Oooh," said Wuming straightening out. "This is like some wolves shit, ain't it? You're Alpha right now," he told Qing Chen. "You're Beta," he said to his youngest brother. "Maybe you should try killing Chen so you get to decide."

Qing Lok only glared at Wuming who was grinning.

"You'd like to see your brothers kill each other?" Qing Chen asked.

"I don't think that either of you are capable of really killing each other so…" Wuming shrugged.

Qing Chen only sighed internally and pocketed his phone. "It's time."

The brothers walked towards the clearing. They were still in the port, their usual meeting place with La Hiena. Every quarter they had to see each other to make sure that business was going well on both sides, but the supply came every month.

Qing Chen had always been amused with the clothes that La Hiena wore during their meetings. There had been various bright colors, but this was the only time that he saw the man wear a neon yellow suit complete with a matching hat.

With the way Wuming faked a cough, Qing Chen knew that he was only stopping his laughter. This was the first time that Wuming joined them on this activity.

"Ah, finally, the complete set," said La Hiena, smiling brightly and Qing Chen caught sight a new gold tooth in his mouth.

Men threw bags of money in the middle ground at the same time that La Hiena tossed a clear bag of pastel colored pills at him. "Think of rainbows and unicorns," said La Hiena, smiling proudly. "As usual, not that harmless and leaves no trace. Just ups some chemicals on their brains and make them tremendously happy for a couple of hours."

Qing Chen squeezed the bag and passed it to Qing Lok. "It has come to my notice that our contract with you is at its end."

"Oh right," said La Hiena and waved a bespectacled man. He was carrying a black briefcase. The lawyer probably. "Shall we sign?"

"No," Qing Chen shook his head. "This will be the last batch that we'll get from you."

There was a short silence. For a while, all they could hear were the soft waves of the water and the barely audible whistle of the salty air. La Hiena's face was expectant, like he was waiting for a punchline. When he realized that it was not going to come, the smile on his face disappeared.

"Found a new supplier?" La Hiena asked.

Qing Chen shook his head again. "Just that we're no longer going to be dealing drugs in this city anymore."

La Hiena paused for another moment then he doubled over laughing. "You're joking, right?" he asked, wiping the tears from the corners of his eyes. "You're a mafia lord, son—"

"Don't call me son."

"—you don't survive without drugs."

"Well, guess we'll just have to see."

La Hiena nodded his head understandably then he stepped forward and everyone moved, pulling out their guns and pointing from both sides. La Hiena signalled his men. "No, don't do that." La Hiena smiled at Qing Chen. "You know, Young Mr. Qing, this is not going to be a wise decision on your part."

"If I need advice I would've asked you. But I don't. It's been a great business venture with you, La Hiena. But this is the end of the road for us."

La Hiena nodded his head. "But before we shake on it, can you answer some question for me?"

"Depends."

"What did you do to The Zookeeper?"
