Chapter 279 - Your Replacement

Wuming's blood was coursing through his veins. He had never felt more alive. He meant, infiltrating and ending a lot of people in one day? He must as well be in heaven. On one ear was his earpiece for communicating and on the other, he had a small earbud for music.

He was not that fond of modern music but they were growing on him for the past few weeks. Upbeat songs made great workout music. Who would've thought it was also nice to dance to a beat while killing people?

He should get a new nickname, The Dancing Killer. Or just simply, The Dancer.

Most of the people he had killed, he managed to sneak up on and not announce his position to the others. Sweat made his suit feel clammy and there was nothing else he wanted to do at that moment but to take it off and take on these people shirtless.

Before he could even move down the stairs, he could hear the gunshots and the grenades. He didn't know which ones were from their team but he certainly wished that they were winning. The hallways that he saw while going down the stairs, had dead bodies.

Seriously, all these mafia lords only knew was quantity. They really need to learn more about quality. He shook his head. He didn't think he would say this, but this place was wild. It was just filled with animals and mutts. It really did deserve to be called The Zoo. These dead people probably had codenames like "Ant 1", "Ant 2", or "Squirrel" or "Frog"—all that harmless animals…

Before he took a look at the first floor, he stretched some more. The least thing he wanted was a strained muscle in the middle of a fight. That would be his death.

His attention was caught when he heard people screaming outside and there were people filing out of the house and into the jeepney cars that they also had. They were carrying guns and heavy looking cases—probably machine guns and missiles.

Wuming winced. The Zoo was going to meet their on-ground team in the middle of the desert. Sheesh. He cursed under his breath. He was going to finish this and follow. He was not going to put his youngest brother in line of that much danger.

He got down the stairs without even checking. He heard the cars rolled off the property and he knew that there would be less people left in the house. His first victim was someone coming from a room, carrying a shiny handgun. His eyes went wide when he saw Wuming—but he was also the last thing he ever saw.

In a blink of an eye Wuming's dagger was in between that person's eyebrows. He pressed on the microphone. "The first floor is almost empty."

"Clean up and we're going outside," Qing Chen answered, out of breath. Wuming heard a person groaning from the speaker. "I'm trying to squeeze out from this man where is The Zookeeper. He is not answering."

"Okay," Wuming answered. "Don't take too long. We got Qing Lok outside."

"Xuan?" asked Qing Chen.

Wuming's stomach dipped. "Sister-in-law?"

"Xuan?!"

"Calm down, I'm alive," answered Feng Xuan, her voice a little tight. "I got shot though."

"What?!" Qing Chen exclaimed.

"Just a little on the arm. But I'm fine. I am moving." Then there were gunshots. "Yep, that should be the last one in this room."

Qing Chen cursed loudly.

"Don't even say it," Feng Xuan warned. She already sensed that Qing Chen was going to tell her to stay put at one place until they got this all over with. "I am going to find this motherfvucker and we're going to go home. Understood?"

"Yes, ma'am," Wuming answered with a grin.

"Qing Chen?"

"Yes, wife," Qing Chen replied forcibly.

"Over and out."

Wuming continued moving, checking the other rooms just to make sure that no one was going to come and ambush him. When he saw the door to the bas.e.m.e.nt, he could not help but going there first without finishing his round. The bas.e.m.e.nt sounded deserted but he had to make sure. The armory was there.

There was a broken metal door and almost everything had been cleared out. Wuming took a couple of hand grenades and put them on the pockets of his pants. He also had used up his grenades in the large groups he had encountered.

"There you are."

Wuming looked around but he didn't find anybody.

"I'm right here."

Wuming turned on the sound of the voice and found a speaker on the corner of the room. "Oh, well, hello, can you hear me?"

"Yes, perfectly."

"And who are you?"

"Wouldn't you like to see me?"

"Are you The Zookeeper?"

"Why don't you come and find out?"

Wuming grinned and shook his head. "Where are you?"

"I'm at the end of the hall here in the bas.e.m.e.nt. Prepare to meet your death."

Wuming's grin turned into a laugh. He started to walk to the location. "C.o.c.ky, huh?" he said loudly. "Do you really think you have what it takes to kill me?"

A male voice answered. "Well, we're going to find out, aren't we?"

"I shouldn't waste my time with you," Wuming said and he reached the entryway. There was just a clear area. No tiles, just a hard concrete floor. The walls were bare and unpainted. There were cords on the floors and computer sets were pushed against the wall. "Hm, you got a second tech room?"

"No," the guy on the seat answered.

"Oh, you're the blond dude that Feng Xuan met. The Fox."

"Yeah," smiled the guy. His limbs were long and he was fit. "I am going to be your replacement."

"Oh, an assassin!" Wuming laughed and removed the gun that was slung across his chest. "Well, I never claimed I was number one in this game."

"Good, because you're no longer going to be once I'm done with you."
