Chapter 212 - First Love

Surprisingly, Da Xia's launch was set in the morning. She had never announced a time so Feng Xuan had to find a workaround. They scheduled an almost twelve-hour date just because they didn't know what time Da Xia would start. The only solution was to cover the whole day for precaution.

It was also the reason why Feng Xuan made the slots exclusive. So the journalists would not be overworked and it wouldn't also cloud the articles they would be writing. There would be batches of doc.u.menters for each activity.

They just dropped the bomb in one publisher and one network and surely word already spread on how they would be able to get one of the coveted slots.

Let's see if Da Xia could beat that.

Feng Xuan and Wang Yimin summoned a small team to help them track what was happening in the location of Liu Meilien's date.

"I still can't believe Qing Lok actually came through for this," said Wang Yimin, watching the screen in her living room with the reactions from people.

"Yeah, it seems like the people are also happy to see him," Feng Xuan added, her eyes also glued to the screen. Qing Lok had already warned them about the potential people who could post something negative about him. That was why they were keeping their eyes peeled.

There was a high chance that it would be right after the first episode goes live tonight. But you can never be too careful.

Another thing, it was not like they could do anything when one of Qing Lok's ex-dates would post. But… what they can do was limit the reach of that tweet. With the Yang, Zhou, and Qing surnames combined in these two, the social media site had to say yes with what they wanted to happen.

"You're right," nodded Wang Yimin. "They look good together."

Feng Xuan smiled at the stolen picture with Qing Lok and Liu Meilien. They had a phone call before they started shooting and the two agreed to have the cameraman follow them throughout the day.

"Since we're doc.u.menting it, why not go all the way?" said Qing Lok. "I promise I'll make it nice for you," he said to Liu Meilien. "So this would be something we can both look back to."

"Yeah, this might be the first time you'll be a decent date," joked Liu Meilien and they laughed.

"She looks happy," she observed at the screen. The two were already walking to the entrance of Gretel's, a few people following behind them.

A Day with Firsts would also be experienced by the people who would doc.u.ment it. Free of charge. They would also get first hand experience with whatever the two were going to do.

Wang Yimin nodded once again. "Yeah, she looks even more beautiful now."

Feng Xuan clapped her hands on the small team at the table. "A Day of Firsts is already on the first activity. I want to see engagements in ALL social media platforms. Power post and tweet."

She looked at her phone. Hopefully the news already reached Da Xia. Feng Xuan would pay good money to have a snapped picture of her when she got the news. It would've been priceless.

They did a short introduction outside the building, generally how the rest of the day would play out and the mechanics of this program.

While entering this new branch of Gretel's, Qing Lok suddenly realized that his older brother Qing Chen had his wife's cake shop and his ex's fashion brand in the same building. Awkward.

It would be really good for his sister-in-law to name this one the mother branch. It was wide and spacious. There was even a second floor and one side of the building was dedicated for the new program "DIY at Gretel's"—which was what they were going to do this morning.

"Let me help you," he said when Liu Meilien moved to remove her coat. "I thought this was a dress."

"It IS a dress," she answered. "I asked for two sizes bigger so I can use it as a coat."

Underneath she was wearing a fitted long-sleeve shirt that showed off her collarbones and neck with a collar that reminded Qing Lok of Peter Pan's. He suddenly felt the urge to touch her skin, but he stopped himself. It would be weird to do that with all those people here.

Liu Meilien adjusted her pleated checkered skirt and redid its ribbon. Qing Lok shrugged off his coat and passed it on to the assistant.

There were two long columns of marble and they stood on one side and the press were on the other. There was a clear glass box with recipes in it. They would have to draw one at random.

"Ladies first," Qing Lok said and opened the lid for her.

"You can now start asking questions," said the director to the media people.

One did not miss a beat. "Question for Liu Meilien, can you swear you have never gone on a date with anyone?"

She let her fingertips feel the top of the cards. "Not once."

"Why is that?"

"I think it's just because nobody asked?" she laughed. "Some said I have a resting bitch face at times."

"Does being a step-daughter of Feng Lizhao had something to do about it?"

She had never actually thought she was that significant in her step-father's business ties. "I don't think so."

Qing Lok sensed her unease and decided to step in. "She's already a wonderful woman and on top of that she's a daughter of such an important man. I guess it could be intimidating for some."

"Question for you, were you intimidated?"

"Oh, I was intimidated alright. We were actually forced to be here," he joked and they laughed. He turned to Liu Meilien, his eyes bright. "What are we baking?"

"It's actually a Valentine's special." She pulled a card out and read the title. "It's called First Love."
