Chapter 125 - It's About Me

Qing Chen woke up alone. He heart gave a little jolt at the thought that Feng Xuan had already left him. He didn't want to give in to it, but he found himself rushing downstairs and calmed down when he smelled breakfast. "Wow, you're cooking," he remarked.

"Well, just because I am back to my old self doesn't mean I'll let you starve." She grinned and tossed the knife in the air and caught it at the hilt. "Cooking is just another skill I'll add in my set. No matter how mundane it is," she snorted and Qing Chen gave her a smile before using the bathroom to wash up.

When he got back in the kitchen, Feng Xuan was done. "Did you sleep well?" he sat down.

"Yes, surprisingly." She put the plate down in front of him and they began eating.

"I have something to ask you."

"Yeah?" she took a sip of her juice. "What is it?"

"Do you want to go back to your father's house?" he asked. "Do you want to live with him for a little while?"

"And live with my evil step-mother? I don't think so." She got that he was only worrying about her, but it seemed like he got another idea with what was happening in her head. "Chen, as much as you have any right to think that I am unhinged right now, I'm not. My mind is fully-functional. I'm not in need of any emotional consolation of the sort. I feel fine. I just got my memories back. I'm not divorcing you. I'm not moving houses. Everything will remain the same as it is. The only difference is that you'll include me in everything now."

He gave her an apologetic look. "I'm sorry. It's just that I haven't met anyone who had the same experience as you. I don't know how to react. I just want to be able to provide what is it that you could possibly need and make sure you're comfortable."

She smiled and squeezed tenderly on his hand. "I'm fine. I'll let you know if there's something I need."

He let out a breath. "That's good to hear."

"Let's have a nice meal and head to your father's."

He nodded and they ate away.

Feng Xuan was honestly a little nervous on how Qing Chen's family would react to her now that they knew that she knew everything. She chewed on the inside of her cheek. She was finally getting into the family business. They should like her better, right? Finally, she had something to put into the table other than platters of food.

But she just really HATED that everyone knew what was going on with her and she was kept in the dark. She shook her head absently. What's done is done, she thought.

While en route, Qing Chen was reading the morning paper. There were a lot about Feng Xuan's kidnapping. They could not really keep it off the press as how would they explain the death of Senator Chang Yan?

Reporters crowded their front gate and it took a while before they could get it fully open. The police already released a statement earlier this morning about what happened but a lot still wanted to hear what she had to say.

Finally, they were able to get to Qing Chen's house. Her heart was beating so loud in her chest. She never thought it would be this nerve-racking to meet your in-laws FOR REAL.

"I'm here!" Qing Chen shouted for the whole house to hear.

It was the grandmother who came out first with a smile on her face. "Well, don't you look like yourself?"

The couple both greeted and kissed her cheek. They were ushered in the living room and before they could even sit down Qing Lok appeared in the doorway.

"Are you feeling okay, sister-in-law?" he smiled like a shy schoolboy.

"Yeah, I'm feeling great."

Then it was Wuming who sat down on a seat. He regarded her and said, "Don't you look like you're ready to get into the battlefield?"

Feng Xuan only sent him a smile. Her wardrobe was mostly dresses and it was not one of the "original" Feng Xuan's favorite choice of clothing. She needed clothes she could move freely in, just in case an attack would come. She dove deep in her closet earlier and found a high-waisted pair of harem pants and an off-shoulder long-sleeved top. All were in black matching her boots.

Her father arrived and smiled brightly at her. Later on, Qing Zihao was seated at his huge seat, giving a warm beam to Feng Xuan. "Shall we start?"

**

In the first course of the meeting, they had talked about the hotel. Qing Chen had not been able to get to it last night as he was too preoccupied trying to take Feng Xuan from the Senator. Chairman Qing had personally stepped in to face the press and release initial statements. Deputy Tang had also done his part managing his end with the police, making sure nothing was out of place and that there would be no legal charges later on as all of the Senator's men were dead.

They closed the book on that with the preparations of deleting all traces they had with the windmills in Dong Yi just for extra caution.

On to the topic of the Zookeeper, Feng Xuan recounted what happened when she was first taken. "I had only managed to kill enough men because they were not expecting for me to actually create a scene. It was as if they didn't know who I was and what I could do."

"Or maybe they just underestimated you," Wuming said, his fingers twirling the ends of his hair. "Because you're a teenage girl."

"And that, too," she nodded. "They were only waiting for Father to attack. They were clearly unprepared that moment."

They traded information with what else happened in the last few months. Feng Xuan knew the majority from her long talk with Qing Chen last night—about the The Zookeeper backing off so they could take care of the senator first.

"How admirable," she commented. "He wanted me to remember. That was why he set up that accident, because it will trigger my memories."

"He could've just kill you," said Qing Lok.

"Agreed." She leaned backwards, getting to the bottom of how The Zookeeper's mind worked. "He didn't want to kill me without me knowing why. He wanted me to know it was for his brother. It was HIS revenge. Because if I died in his hands without me knowing what it was about, everything would be in vain." She started to laugh. "Isn't that interesting? It's not really all about you guys. It's about me."

Wuming barked laughter at that. "Aren't you a lively spirit?"

Qing Chen was just sipping his tea quietly as everything was being talked about. But now he said, "What's it going to be, Xuan? Are you staying and work with us? Or are you leaving?"

"I'm staying alright. But first I need to train." She grinned. "I'm going to give The Zookeeper the fight that he wants."
