Chapter 5 - Five: Cash Cows

"Leonardo Fucking Kane" Navaya finally said with her eyes widened with excitement. Becca felt her heart racing, running a mile a minute. One would have to be living under a rock not to know who Leonardo Fucking Kane was. Sure his middle name wasn't fucking but his company, Trex corporation, was definitely fucking with other companies market value as it was currently taking the business world by storm, making him one of the richest men in America. Despite the fame his money had gotten him, he still was a mysterious man who didn't like posing for the cameras. He preferred living his life in the shadows, leaving all the public appearances for his assistant to handle.

Bringing secrets about Leonardo Kane to the light had always been the biggest challenge to the media because damn! That man sure knew how to hide. Many people haven't even seen the guy and those who happen to meet him or even catch a glimpse seemed to have sworn an oath of secrecy or something. He was literally rolling in money, dominating the business world as a whole and buying other companies under his name, Ha! More like snatching them. He was known to be the most notorious business tyrants out there who had a nasty habit of making people who crossed him go bankrupt and at times even disappear. This was something Leonardo and Regina had in common. Some even say he isn't even real, a fake identity due to his lack of public appearance.

" You're kidding right?" Becca still couldn't believe that this was happening, with Leonardo Kane endorsing her business project, she could already imagine how big and successful it would be. To hell with his lack of public image, in the era that we lived in, when money spoke, people would willing to listen and even when though he wasn't much of a chatterbox but he could still make his money growl. Leonardo Kane, the definition of a money-making machine, reeked of the stench of wealth with money running in his family the same way blood runs through our veins.

The Kanes were rich, power and influential people who liked keeping a low profile. Rumors had it that the Kane family ran the biggest underground mafia organization in America and Leonardo lacked public appearance because he was too busy running the underworld as a tyrant.

"shut the front door!" Becca exclaimed when she saw Navaya wasn't denying it.

"Girl, it's already open because if this deal succeeds, we will be on a whole new level, sis! We still have to review the terms and conditions of the project then sign the contract, so we will be having a conference meeting with him on Tuesday and since it's Friday we have just four days to prepare. Asides from that we are good to go and after that Leo Kane will become our new business sugar daddy." Navaya informed with a bright cheerful smile.

Though Becca was happy that her company would get a chance to be endorsed by one of the cash cows of the country. God! who wouldn't be? Her company practically stroke gold. But she couldn't help being wary of the thought of meeting Mr Kane. His was a total mystery himself and with so little being known about him it was hard to trust his character. He sounded like a shady person and his reputation wasn't exactly flattering. And the things he did to people who angered him. What if they offend him? She didn't want to go bankrupt or disappear! Only God would help them. But it didn't matter, right? They were just doing business with him nothing else. All they were after was his money in the end and thankfully he had a lot of it.

" You mean business partner, right?" Becca raised a brow at her friend.

" yeah yeah, same thing."

"No, it isn't."

" Call it whatever you wanna call it. When he signs the contract he's technically gonna be giving us money as investment so...." Navaya winked and had a victory smirk on like she had won the argument. Becca just chose to ignore her best friend's childish behavior as she didn't have the strength to counter it with hers.

"Anyway, you did well for the company and as a friend so thank you," Becca said sincerely with a sweet smile on her face and she meant what she said. Navaya was her closest friend and the best vice president she could have ever had.

" Of course I did and you're welcome," Navaya responded smugly like the narcissist she was.

" But seriously, how did you get your hands on one of the country's cash cows? Wait! You didn't do anything illegal, did you?" Becca looked at her friend suspiciously, with her eye staring questioningly at her. Navaya gasped and put her hand on her chest, feigning a shocked expression but Becca have known her friend for so long and could tell when she was faking things or just overexaggerating and now was one of those times.

"Becca, you think too lowly of me and I'm deeply hurt by your outrageous accusations," Navaya said with a sullen expression on her face and turned to look away from Becca who thinned her lips.

" It was a simple question," Becca said.

" And a very offensive one at that. I'm hurt you know. Me? Doing something illegal? Never!" Navaya exclaim like an unjustly accused.

"Hey, stop overreacting and tell me already, can't you see how the curiosity is killing me here. Besides if either one of us were to find our asses in jail, it's probably going to be you and you can't deny it." Becca said, hoping Navaya would just spit it out already because the curiosity she felt was already choking her to death. Navaya turned again to look at Becca and smiled.

" Fine, Johnny helped me" she said and Becca's curiosity level shut up by 200%.

" Which Johnny? My brother Johnny? or is there another Johnny you know that I don't?" Becca asked, trying to clear out the confusion in her head. Johnny knew Leo Kane personally? How? Since when? And most especially why was she just hearing about it now?!

" Of course your brother Johnny. Johnathan Ramus. How many Johnnys do I even know?"

" That's what I was just asking. How did Johnny possibly helped?" Becca just seemed to be filled with questions and her curiosity was eating her up like a virus.

"Turns out that Johnny is acquainted with Leo Kane," Navaya replied.

"Acquainted?" Becca asked, visibly shocked. Her older brother knew Mr Kane? It shouldn't have been much of a shock to since they were both into the Same field of business but for Johnny to help schedule a meeting with Leo Kane that easily? No, they had to be more than mere acquaintances.

" More like pals, he says they go way back," Navaya said. Well that explains it. 'But why didn't Johnny tell me ' Becca thought to herself.. Perhaps he also took an oath of secrecy.
