Chapter 153 - I Remember Him!

Hecathe's frown deepened as soon as he heard the girl and with his eyebrows creased together in worry, the man asked, "Why do you say that?"

The girl gulped as she kept her eyes on the man that was sitting away from them, "The mask that he is wearing... I remember seeing it before."

"From where?" Hecathe asked without missing a beat as he looked at the girl.

"A long time ago," LeiLei answered and her voice almost sounded soft and weak, as if she was not ready to believe her own thoughts, "I saw him when my parents died."

"..." Hecathe was silent as he heard this and he looked at Marvin with a bit of worry while Marvin also looked back to meet Hecathe's eyes.

"But isn't that a common mask?" Marvin gulped as he asked.

LeiLei shook her head as she explained sharply, "It's not exactly the mask that I recognize. It's the special mark on it... My father also had a mask just like that with the same golden mark."

Marvin frowned as he hear this and finally tried to take a closer look at the man who casually sat there, unaware of the fact that he had suddenly become the topic of conversation for the people sitting on the highest floor.

"Are you sure about it?" Hecathe asked as he looked at the girl and LeiLei nodded her head as she confirmed it.

"I can always recognize that mark," LeiLei muttered and there was a sense of sadness in her voice that could be clearly heard.

Marvin's eyes widened ever so slightly as he realized something and just when Hecathe opened his mouth to say something, he saw Marvin's face and immediately stopped as he felt that there was something wrong with the boy's reaction.

Hecathe had also taken a look at that golden mark on the mask but he didn't see anything wrong with it, however, it seemed that both LeiLei and Marvin could clearly recognize the mark and they were completely taken by surprise, even finding it hard to believe their own eyes.

Hecathe was silent and simply waited for one of them to speak up.

"It's not just her," Marvin muttered softly after the initial shock started to sink in, "I recognize it as well."

Hecathe's eyebrows furrowed together as he heard this and LeiLei also looked to be surprised by this information as she turned to look at Marvin and asked, "You know him too...?"

If Marvin was connected to her father in any way, it was only natural that the girl would be interested to know.

Marvin shook his head hesitantly as he responded, "I cannot be sure about it, but if I'm right... Then this is going to be a bit complicated."

Hecathe had no idea what was going on nor did he know why Marvin was acting so worried, but the man was still sure that he also needed to be a bit worried about this sudden man that was recognized by the other two.

"He was the one who came and told my mother about my father's death," LeiLei explained with a complicated expression plastered on her face.

Hecathe gulped as he heard this and had nothing to say to that.

"Hecathe, I have only seen a single man wearing a white mask with a golden mark like that," Marvin spoke anxiously and hesitantly.

"Who was it?" Hecathe asked as he looked at the boy curiously.

Marvin gulped as he sharply turned his head towards Hecathe and met the man's eyes as he answered, "Asgarian."

That damned name again...

Hecathe's eyebrows creased together and he immediately turned to look at the masked individual that was revealed to be Asgarian.

This was the guy that had lied to Marvin and turned him against Alphius. He was one of the three willows of spring that was suspected to be the real killer whom they were chasing after.

"Asgarian?" LeiLei repeated with a bit of confusion as she tried to remember if she had heard this name before, but no matter how much she tried to remember the name of the man that had come over that day, she could still not recall it.

This was only natural considering the fact that the girl had lost both her parents that day. She couldn't even remember details about her father so it was to be expected that she couldn't recall the name of her father's friend.

At first, Marvin was shocked to see the man here but now that the shock had slowly started to sink in, anger was the only thing left behind.

Marvin clenched his fist tightly and gritted his teeth as he glared at the man who was not aware of anything that was going on up on the highest floor.

"We can't attack him right now," Hecathe reminded as he noticed the anger that could be sensed from Marvin.

"He's right there," Marvin gritted out, "He's unguarded. There cannot be a better opportunity."

Hecathe sighed as he heard this and nodded his head as he agreed with the boy, "You are right, there cannot be a better opportunity to take him out but are you sure you want to sacrifice our lives in the process as well?"

"..."

"Marvin, follow the plan and you'll get your revenge. There is no need to be impatient," Hecathe added as he grabbed Marvin's fist and tried to calm the boy down.

"So he's the one that killed your father?" LeiLei asked with a bit of surprise as she looked at Hecathe.

Hecathe simply nodded his head with a sigh and didn't say anything.

LeiLei was also silent as she saw the man confirming it.

She knew that this masked man was her father's friend, but now, she was working with Hecathe and Marvin who wanted her father's friend dead.

Her confusion was to be unexpected and it was hard for the girl to choose which side she wanted to be on.

"Marvin, why would Asgarian be here?" Hecathe asked as he tried to distract the boy.

"I don't know," Marvin responded as he shook his head, "The three willows of spring would never come to a place like this. They have their own reputation to keep."

Hecathe didn't know if he wanted to laugh or cry as he heard this.

The three willows of spring certainly had their own reputations to keep but whether they were all interested in keeping that reputation or not was a question that could not be easily answered.

"So I guess this confirms things," Hecathe sighed as he muttered and both Marvin and LeiLei looked at him as they waited for him to continue, "He's definitely planning something shady."

One of three willows of springs coming to take part in the underground auction was a pretty big deal.

If the man had nothing to hide then he wouldn't have been here but since he was seen here, it was easy to conclude that he was trying to hide something.

Marvin closed his eyes and nodded as he tried his best to control his emotions.

This time, he was determined not to make the same mistakes. He might have acted on impulse and killed his best friend the last time but that incident had taught him a lesson and Marvin no longer dared to act out on impulse.

The rest of the auction went on as usual and it could be seen that Asgarian was here for a certain product that was sold at the auction.

Throughout the duration of the auction, the man had remained calm and didn't bid on anything but once the special last item was announced, Asgarian immediately acted by placing the highest bid possible. By doing such a thing, he challenged everyone and nobody dared to outbid him.

It was the same strategy that Hecathe had used when he placed a bid on the Dorgon egg and won.

The item that Asgarian won was something that Hecathe didn't consider important and he couldn't even understand why Asgarian would come here just to buy something like it.

The last item was in fact just a plant and it was sold for a pretty high sum.

The plant didn't look special but when the auctioneer talked about the details and uses of the plant, Hecathe was a bit shocked.

It was a special type of plant that was used to make medicine. There was certainly nothing shocking about that but what Hecathe was shocked about was perhaps the fact that there was a special type of medicine that could be made with this plant and it was used to erase a person's memories.

To put it in simple words, this plant was like a secret trick to deleting memories from a person's mind.

Hecathe was not stupid and hence, as soon as he heard this, he immediately understood that this was the reason why Asgarian had bought this plant.

However, although he could conclude this, there was still something that was missing.

Why would Asgarian want to erase someone's memories and whose memories was he trying to erase...?
