Chapter 125 - There Is A Storm Coming

Hecathe sighed as he leaned his head back and looked up at the sky that had dark clouds dangerously crowding together on top.

The wind felt cold as it brushed past his skin and for some reason, Hecathe couldn't help but feel a little exhausted.

It seemed that there was a storm coming...

Hecathe closed his eyes and stayed in that position for a few minutes before he decided to head out to the black market once again.

There was going to be another auction today as well and if Hecathe wanted to pay Zather for the rumor, he needed to go and get some money since he had run out of funds by now.

If it hadn't been for the gluttonous Dorgon, Hecathe was sure that he would have still had enough money to pay Zather.

While Hecathe paid another visit to the black market, Marvin and LeiLei were stuck inside a mutant cave.

At first, LeiLei had no idea where she was but the girl could still sense the danger that lingered around so she lit up a matchstick that Marvin had given her before they entered this place.

As soon as the matchstick was lit up, the creepy faces of the mutants were revealed.

With their fangs on display, drooling on the ground, they looked to be pretty delighted and hungry as they saw the two.

LeiLei's eyes widened as she got shocked by the bone-chilling sight but surprisingly enough, the girl didn't scream.

"Mr. Raven, is this the test?" LeiLei asked softly, almost sounding a bit too calm.

Marvin couldn't help but chuckle as he found the girl's reaction a bit amusing.

The boy nodded as he confirmed it and responded, "Try your best to stay alive and if you can, try to collect some dead ones as well."

LeiLei's face cringed up in disgust as she heard this and the matchstick was already almost burned out completely.

"If you can bring out a few dead ones, you'll get paid for the mutant bead," Marvin shrugged his shoulder as he added and as soon as the girl heard the word 'money' being involved in the situation, her eyes widened in surprise and her lips curled up in delight.

She dropped the matchstick to the ground and the cave was once again dark, but this time, it was certainly not silent anymore.

Marvin chuckled softly as he made his way to the side and sat down to enjoy the fight.

It seemed that the word 'money' was more than enough to make the girl fight mutants that could possibly kill her.

Marvin had never seen the girl use her abilities in front of him but since Hecathe had some faith in this girl, Marvin was curious to know what he was going to see today and had high expectations from her.

Surprisingly enough, LeiLei didn't disappoint him in the least.

Marvin closed his eyes and leaned his head back on the cave wall as he sat on the ground with an amused small smile on his face.

Since the cave was dark, he couldn't see what was happening but from the sounds alone, he was sure that LeiLei wasn't the one in danger.

LeiLei grabbed a handful of small stones from the ground and although such an action might not have made sense to many, she clearly had a plan in her mind.

The girl was not a good fighter so it was only natural that she wasn't interested in fighting the mutants.

With the ability she had, fighting was not even needed for her to pass this test.

According to what Marvin had told her, all she needed to do was stay alive till the time was up and if she could get a few mutant beads in the process, she would also be able to earn money in this test.

LeiLei was interested in passing the test since she wanted to join the guild but it seemed that she was more interested in getting the money out of the mutant beads.

Instead of fighting the mutants, LeiLei decided to be intelligent and took the easy way out.

With the use of her abilities, she swapped out the stones with the mutant beads and in the process, all the stones that were in her hand turned into pure mutant beads while the mutants started dropping to the ground one by one.

The mutant bead was like a brain to them. It was the most important organ of their body and without it, the mutants would no longer be able to live. So, when their mutant beads were suddenly turned into small stones, it was only natural that the mutants died.

Marvin was a bit surprised as he heard the mutants dropping to the ground one by one and he couldn't help but be even more interested in this girl who had caused such a thing.

It seemed that Hecathe's worries were in vain.

This girl was really not weak nor was she controlled by her fear that was basically non-existent.

When the test was finally over, the two people were teleported back to the guild and shockingly enough, LeiLei looked to be depressed over the fact that she hadn't been able to collect that many mutant beads.

However, when Kelly counted the mutant beads that the girl had brought back, she couldn't help but be shocked speechless.

"One hundred and twenty-three pure mutant beads..." Kelly muttered in disbelief and almost looked as if she wanted to count them once again.

LeiLei frowned as she heard this number and tilted her head in confusion as she innocently asked, "Is it too little?"

Kelly gulped as she heard this question and almost had the urge to bang her head against the wall.

Marvin, who heard this, also chuckled as he patted the girl's head softly and commented, "It's more than enough. You've certainly passed the test."

LeiLei looked to be delighted as she heard this and her eyes lit up in joy as she jumped excitedly, "Really?!~"

Marvin nodded his head with a warm smile and Kelly also sighed as she nodded her head and agreed with the boy.

"Welcome to the golden fire..." Kelly muttered as she looked at the girl with an indecipherable expression plastered on her face.

"Nice to meet you!~" LeiLei immediately beamed as a response.

"It seems that Hecathe wasn't wrong about you," Kelly sighed as she added, "You're really worth the praise."

LeiLei still had no idea why she was being praised like this but since it wasn't a bad thing, she simply accepted it.

"So how much can it fetch me?" LeiLei curiously questioned and Marvin couldn't help but snicker as he heard this sudden question that he should have already expected to hear.

"Eh?" Kelly looked to be a little confused as she tilted her head.

"For the mutant beads," LeiLei smiled as she informed, "You're going to pay, aren't you?"

"..."

Kelly turned her gaze towards Marvin and it seemed that the woman was asking for an explanation.

Marvin shrugged his shoulders as he spoke, "Don't look at me like that. She only killed the mutants for the money."

Kelly sighed as she heard this and rubbed her head as she muttered, "How can both Hecathe and her think of only money...?!"

"Hmm?" LeiLei raised her eyebrows.

It came as no shock that LeiLei was immediately given a joining form that Marvin helped her to fill out. The girl had performed really well in the test and had shown almost the same results as Hecathe. Both of their abilities could not be understood nor detected but by the end of it, somehow, the two were able to collect a lot of pure mutant beads and this was impressive enough to make them a little famous in the guild.

In fact, it was not just them, but Marvin also gained a bit of reputation in the guild as the new recruit who had an impressive alcohol tolerance level. So, it could be said that all three of the new recruits that entered Kelly's team were famous in just a few days.

Even though Marvin was famous for completely different reasons, it didn't change the fact that he was still famous in the guild.

When LeiLei returned back to the apartment, she brought a big bag of meat back with her and at first, Hecathe was a bit surprised and confused to see this.

"Did you kill someone?" With raised eyebrows, Hecathe asked as he saw the huge bag filled with meat.

LeiLei pursed her lips into a thin line as she showed her unimpressed look at this question.

"I wanted to celebrate!" The girl exclaimed, breathing out angrily.

"So I suppose you passed the test?" Hecathe asked as he closed the diary and looked at her.

LeiLei smiled brightly as she nodded her head and responded proudly, "That's right! Miss Kelly said I was a rare talent. I performed exceptionally well!~"

"Hmm," Hecathe hummed in satisfaction and didn't sound to be too surprised as he heard this which made LeiLei frown.
