Chapter 65 - The Special Item

The reason why he had saved the Dorgon was because he felt that the Dorgon could come to be an asset for him in the future, however, it was clear that this girl would definitely not become an asset no matter how much he invested in her.

The only reason he would have for saving her would be sympathy, but Hecathe would simply not save the girl out of sympathy.

If he saved her today then she could live a safe life, but that would not change the fact that there would be another 'rare flower' sold here tomorrow.

It wasn't like Hecathe had any power to change this system either so all he could do at this moment was wait and watch.

"Thirty thousand Lenix placed by our lovely guest up at seat 43!" The auctioneer announced and Hecathe unconsciously glanced at the balcony that was beside the seat 44 one.

The woman who sat at seat 44 also looked over at her neighbor with a frown apparent on her face and Hecathe could immediately guess who the next bidder was going to be.

"Fifty thousand Lenix placed by our beautiful guest sitting up at seat 44!" The auctioneer announced and Hecathe couldn't help but feel a little amused to see that this woman had acted out of pity.

This time, even Raven hadn't bothered to join the bidding war as he stayed silent on his seat and waited for this bid to be over.

Hecathe sighed in relief as he felt that the end result was only going to be beneficial to this rare flower that was pitifully being displayed inside the glass box.

The bidding war this time lasted for a few minutes and when it was over, the one who won was exactly the one who Hecathe had guessed would win.

"The rare flower is now sold to the lovely guest sitting up in seat 44 for one million Lenix!" The auctioneer announced at the end and the woman who sat in seat 44 smirked in satisfaction as she glared at the one who sat on the balcony next to hers.

Hecathe wasn't really interested to know what would happen to this slave who had been sold, however, he could guess that the woman who had won the bid would probably let her go or make sure that she is given a good life from here on out.

The item changed once again and the next few items were truly boring compared to all the previous items. They were all either weapons that were being overestimated or magical treasures that were said to be capable of saving one's life if one were in need of it.

Hecathe couldn't help but feel that the one who benefitted the most from this auction was nobody but himself. After all, he had won a Dorgon and that creature was an investment that could be considered to bring him priceless benefits in the future.

The auction was soon coming to an end and the only item that was left was the special item that had been prepared.

Hecathe straightened his back and paid attention this time as he looked up to see that the special item was covered with a black cloth, this was probably done to increase the anticipation and suspense.

"We've had a really great auction today! It has been a long time since I have seen this auction hall be so lively," The auctioneer commented with a chuckle, "Some items have managed to fetch a lot more than what we had initially expected them to fetch."

There was no doubt that the auctioneer was talking about the Dorgon Egg that had been sold to Hecathe.

"You have all participated enthusiastically and many of you have managed to win the items that had interested you the most. Some of you might have lost this time but do not let this dishearten you as the items that we have brought you today might end up in the future auctions as well. So make sure to come back next time and we hope that luck is on your side when that time comes!"

"Now, our today's auction is coming to a close with our last item of the day. The special item that a lot of you are here for!" The auctioneer exclaimed as he gestured up and in the very next moment, the black cloth that was covering the item was immediately lifted.

"The special item prepared for you today is a rare and priceless pure undamaged mutant bead!"

Hecathe was stunned speechless for a minute and when the shock had settled in, he didn't know if he wanted to laugh or cry.

"The starting bid of this item is one hundred billion Lenix!" The man announced again and Hecathe choked on empty air as he realized that he had been tricked!

A lot of people immediately raised their hands and started placing higher bids, making Hecathe feel as if he wanted to go back in the past and demand more money for his hundred undamaged mutants beads.

He previously thought he had asked for a fair amount when he sold the hundred mutant beads for ten trillion Lenix but now that he heard the starting bid of one single bead, he couldn't help but feel that he had been too humble when he sold off those hundred mutant beads.

As expected... That time the auctioneer was shocked to hear Ten trillion Lenix but it seems that he wasn't shocked because Hecathe was asking too much but he was instead shocked because Hecathe had asked for the minimum.

"Damn it..." Hecathe cursed under his breath as he glared at the auctioneer who was happily standing there announcing all the bids that were coming in.

Hecathe suddenly heard somebody knocking on the door behind him and he immediately turned around as he asked, "Who is it?"

"Sir, I'm here to check the mutant beads," It was the voice of a woman.

Hecathe sighed as he replied, "Come in."
