Chapter 50 - Capturing Mutants.

Kelly clicked her tongue, "I don't enjoy listening to mindless chatter. Since we have already covered information about your mission, I hope everyone here is already well aware about the consequence that comes with choosing to volunteer in this mission?"

The consequence? Even though she hadn't said it out loud, it was clear as day what they would be putting at stake in this mission. The consequence was death. They could easily die in there and this was something that they were already aware of before they even took this mission, after all, hunting mutants was not an easy job.

Everyone nodded as a confirmation and Kelly looked to be pleased with this response as she continued, "That's great!"

She took out something from her pocket and threw it over to each of the other members as she spoke, "If you want to capture one alive then this would help you a lot. I wouldn't promote trying but in case you're courageous enough, you can use it."

Hecathe looked down at the thing that he had caught easily and with just a look, he was able to understand what it was. Although it looked like zip-ties, Hecathe was sure that it was probably not a normal zip-tie. It was thicker and stronger which would probably be perfect to restraint the mutants.

"Then we can go ahead now," Kelly announced without missing a beat.

Before anyone could say anything, the woman snapped her finger and the faint light that was coming from the design on the floor disappeared, leaving the room completely dark.

Hecathe couldn't help but frown as he noticed that the temperature had suddenly gotten cold. He immediately tried to see if there were any mutants around and just as he had expected, he could feel a strong connection from the mutants nearby who were... A bit too near to them.

"Why did you turn off the light?" Lele's high-pitched voice could be heard as she questioned in confusion.

Hecathe sighed as he felt that this woman was really a bit dumb in the head.

It wasn't the light that was put out, it was them.

They were not standing in that dark grey room anymore but were in fact standing in the middle of a mutant cave, covered from all sides by hordes of those creatures.

"On the count of three, we attack!" Kelly's voice could be heard loud and clear, echoing throughout the whole cave.

Lele, "Eh?"

"One," Kelly started the count and Hecathe got ready as he closed his eyes and started to estimate how many mutants were covering them.

"Two!" Kelly shouted but one couldn't understand which direction her voice was coming from.

"Three," Kelly suddenly lit up a matchstick which became the only source of light in the cave.

The mutants that were hiding in the dark immediately got revealed. They growled with their fangs on display, drooling at the sight of people.

Even though Hecathe knew that these creatures were basically harmless for him, he still couldn't help but feel uneasy and a bit creeped out at the sight of them.

Even if one knew that they were having a nightmare, the nightmare would certainly not be any less scary. This situation could also be compared to that lucid nightmare.

"Ahhhh!" Lele was the first to scream as she clutched tightly onto her boyfriend's arm.

"What the f"*ck is that?!" As expected, the next one to shout on top of his voice was Haze who didn't look to be happy as he saw the sight of the bloodthirsty creatures waiting to attack.

"And the fun begins," Kelly commented with a chuckle as she dropped the matchstick and the light inside the cave went out with it.

The cave was once again shrouded in darkness but this time, it was not silent anymore.

Hecathe could clearly hear the various sounds of someone fighting and someone running away with Lele screaming in the background.

Hecathe sighed as he crouched down and held his hand out forward before summoning the mutants towards him.

He felt a bit of frost touch his skin, but it didn't surprise him much as he concluded that it was probably the work of Kelly who was fighting the mutants.

Unexpectedly enough, Hecathe could sense what the other members were doing, however, there was someone in the cave whose actions could not be sensed at all by Hecathe and this person was none other than Raven who hadn't moved an inch and calmly stood in his place.

Haze struggled to fight in the beginning, however, there came a point when he eventually got too scared and overwhelmed by the aggressiveness of the mutants that he turned and ran away, thinking that running would help him get away.

Hecathe heard Kelly sigh and he could clearly understand why she gave this reaction.

Before entering this cave, Kelly had clearly told them not to run far away and yet, even after warning them beforehand, the man was still stupid enough to do exactly that.

At first, Lele also tried to run after him but it was too dark which caused the girl to trip and fall down.

"Save me!" Lele cried out and Hecathe could almost imagine her current face that was red and puffy, filled with tears streaming down uncontrollably from her eyes.

Hecathe took out the zip-ties and quietly ordered the mutants to behave themselves as he tied their legs and arms together.

Kelly clicked her tongue as she stepped forward and helped Lele who was almost killed by a mutant, however, Lele didn't show any gratitude as she scrambled up to her feet and ran away, following after her boyfriend who was already too far away from them.

"Some people can't be saved," Hecathe commented with a sigh as he mentally concluded that the annoying couple only had one future ahead of them after this.

Well... At least they get to share their gruesome future together...

"Time is almost up!" Kelly announced as she cut up a mutant in half with the help of her blade that was completely made from ice.

Althought the blade could not be seen, Hecathe could certainly feel its coldness.
