Chapter 87 - Mere Hostage!?

Behind the bar? Jennifer wanted to speak a lot. She never expected herself to be termed as a runaway criminal now when the title of being kidnapped bride was already tagging alongside.

A chuckle escaped through her lips, which made Amaira wonder, why is this lady laughing. She looked at the lady from top to bottom, and couldn't help wondering what had gotten her to deal with such a lady who had no sense.

But in contrast to Amaira's tucking, Jennifer was finding it more funny and interesting

"Will you like to have a walk with me? Ellen, can I have a walk here? I promise I will not run and obvious you can keep an eye over me too." She turned around and asked in the most pleading tones with an assuring smile.

Seeing her cute and sweet nature, Ellen automatically agreed but then Jennifer asked another query, "Can I tell the story?"

The words were confusing and puzzling. Amaira didn't understand for whom she asked permission but Ellen wasn't mad.

"Sure. Go ahead and tell me. Sir won't get angry."

Receiving a position answer from his side, made her clap her hand in the most childish way and then, kept her hand around Amaira's shoulders in the most friendly way.

The sudden attack of the hand made Amaira stubble back but this time she didn't find it awkward like last time. Although her heart was still cold, at the same time she heard the lady's talk with patience.

"Okay little girl, first tell me how old are you?" Jennifer started the conversation on a much lighter note, not intending to scare her "Nineteen this year. I'm in my university's first semester already." The answer was as straight as ever and this is how she had expected.

"So… dear Amaira Johnson, I have to tell you that I'm not your brother's girlfriend. Have you heard about the Smiths?" Jennifer asked in the normal tone, not indicating anything via her face.

Rather, she maintained composure when Amaira nodded her head in response.

"Good! I belong to that state and… I was getting married to that idiotic Lucas Smith. Fortunately, your brother arrived and kidnapped me from my own wedding and brought me to a distant island."

Jennifer doesn't wish to have an enmity with the little girl. Who knows one day she needs her help in something? Moreover, telling the truth won't hurt.

"So.. you mean to say that you are the hostage that my family was talking about?" She asked with a lot of uncertainty written on her face to which Jennifer replied, "Correct! I'm that hostage. When we landed in your states, your father wanted to capture me and to be put on the bars but your brother fought for my safety because of the pact we have."

Amaira didn't look entirely convinced but with the clean presentation in her mind, she seems to understand the situation better from her eyes. It was a true mess that wasn't easy to solve and somewhat Amaira unsorted the same.

"You must stay away.. you know my brother has a fiance and I just hate her too. I have to deal with her as well, so it's not a problem, to begin with. I thought...you are." A smile brought on Jennifer's face she heard her words.

"Protective sister?"

"Hmm. I'm the only sister so… it is my responsibility. So what if they don't treat me as the one but in the end, I'm one of his younger sisters. I will not let any wrong girl surface around and disturb my brothers."

So much powerfulness in her words made Jennifer wonders why she finds this girl so cute now? She was nineteen yet her words made her feel how much she loved her dear brother.

'But Javier doesn't give her the attention and love she deserves.'

Jennifer knew that she is his stepmother's child, must be in much hatred with her. Possible. But at the same time, what was the little girl's fault in that?

She has questions related to both of them but can only not prey on them much. "So dear lady, you already have the answers to your questions but let me know about it.. why are you so frustrated and furious?"

Amaira was shocked. Not able to comprehend what does the lady mean by her words now? "Can you be more specific?"

"The people who have anger issues are different. I believe you don't have any anger issues but… you are holding too much. Is that right dear?"

She watched her walking under the clear sky. The park was full of people and Jennifer heard voices coming from some or the other side. But at the same time, she knew that this wasn't something she is here for.

Amaira had a sour relationship with Javier and this has nothing to do with her. Yet somehow she can't just be here and listen to whatever she says. It will be too rude. "I meant, why don't you simply just tell me if you are facing any issues?"

The frown on Amaira's face was clear which made her believe that she must be in some kind of trouble already. The little girl must not get angry at each small thing.

Amaira bit her lower lip but didn't say anything with respect to this. 'Why should I now tell a stranger like her something which is very much personal? No... it would be too rude.' She shook her head and rejected the offer.

"So you wanna lie, hmm?" Jennifer's eyes narrowed when she noticed the girl's expressions. "Here I'm trying to help and you are showing attitude?"

"This is called safeguarding yourself. I'm not someone ordinary. I'm a Johnson and I can't trust someone too easily, same as you. Do you wish me to tell you something? Despite knowing that you are nothing but a simple hostage?"
