Chapter 86 - VISITING FAMILY PART 2

"She's right, you know." Bechard continued with the sentiments. "We want to make sure that the two of you are safe. Specifically you Jacy. We may not know why but we know that you've been hiding from people. Will being with this man be safe for you? Will you be happy? Can he help to protect you? If he can't answer yes to all three of those then I am sorry but we will not give our blessings."

I never knew how much Laurell and Bechard cared for me. I knew they loved me, and I knew that they were willing to go above and beyond for me but I never realized to what extent. This was something else entirely.

"What do you do, Kyle?" Laurell asked as they got straight down to business.

"I own an IT securities company. I am the president and CEO so I am often busy but I am also able to delegate work that needs to be done."

"OK, so chances are you're financially stable." Bechard was nodding as if Kyle had passed the first hurdle.

"Yes, I am very financially stable. I would never need to take money from the woman I love. It is my job to provide for her, not the other way around." Kyle was acting as cool as he could. How did he do this? I know he was nervous earlier.

"That's a little archaic. You do know that Jacy is not the backseat, let a man take care of her type, right?"

"I know that. Jacy is a very free willed, strong, independent woman who will never be comfortable with being coddled. I plan to work with her and not control her. Still, any money that she earns would be hers and the bills would be my responsibility. I will not budge on that."

That statement from Kyle made both Bechard and Laurell laugh hard. They must truly think what he said was funny. I for one find it kind of sweet. It just went to show how serious Kyle was going to be about me. I didn't know if I could stomach it when it happened but in theory it was good.

"He's definitely dedicated, Jacy." Laurell was still giggling.

"I'd say he's a good guy so far." Bechard had managed to stop his fit of glee for the moment. "Now, Kyle, what could you do to protect our Jacy?"

"Well, Sir, I can monitor if anyone is trying to find her anywhere in the country. If they even search her name I would know. Above that, well, I am not a weak man sir. If anyone got close enough to her they'd be close enough to me. I will kill anyone who so much as touches her without her permission if I have to."

"Kyle?" I scolded him.

"That's intense." Bechard added.

"He's a keeper." Laurell seemed to have approved of the man I brought home to her.

That was a little shocking. I didn't expect her to be so accepting of Kyle so fast. I mean, the hell that she and her husband put their daughters through made me glad I had sworn off love.

"Huh?" I couldn't stop that from slipping out. Apparently I wasn't the only one who was surprised.

"Huh?" Kyle was just a second behind me with his sound of wonder and confusion.

"What? Is it that hard to believe that I would accept you two? I mean come on Jacy, this is the first man you have ever introduced us to. We knew immediately that it had to be serious."

"She's right, you know. Yes we had to put you through our little test as well, but the fact that you're here, Kyle, means that Jacy accepts and approves of you. That holds a lot of weight with us."

I watched as Kyle turned to look at me with a grin. I knew why. He had just been told that I accept and approve of him. Come on guys, don't go giving this enemy here all of my secrets. If I didn't hide something from him he would steal my heart.

"You have no idea how happy that makes me." Kyle was still grinning at me while he spoke. "I want you to know that I love Jacy very much and I will treat her right. I will protect her and make sure she is as happy as possible. I will never leave her and I will never hurt her."

"Pfft." I couldn't help but compare his words to wedding vows. That's just what his tone and intensity made me think of. I had to break the tension somehow or we might walk out of here married before I even knew what happened.

"What?" He was curious, an eyebrow raised and nearly touching his hairline.

"You say you won't hurt me, but you stole my breakfast. If that isn't agony I don't know what is."

Yup, I knew this was going to happen. All five of them laughed at me. Kyle and Bastian didn't know me as well but EZ and his parents knew just what I was getting at.

"I don't know how you survived stealing her breakfast Kyle, but I can guess you didn't touch her bacon." Bechard was gasping for air while he spoke.

"No, I had a feeling she would cut my hand off if I touched that. I was just trying to make sure that she was eating healthier is all. She has to be careful for the time being."

"I'm sorry, why does she need to be careful?" Laurell leaned forward and fixed Kyle with a firm stare. She wasn't missing his point. She had read between his lines. She knew what he was saying already but she wanted to hear him say it.

"Uhm." Kyle was starting to get nervous now. "W-well, you see."

"Did you do something inappropriate with our Jacy?" Bechard leaned forward. He had guessed the meaning as well.

"Well, we uhm. Jacy is-." Kyle was floundering and unable to finish his answers. He was looking at me with desperation.

"I'm pregnant." I blurted the words out for them.

I don't know what I expected. Based on their reactions before I thought they might be upset but that had seemed out of character for them. And out of character it was because once they heard the confirmation they were both shouting their delight to the ceiling.

"Yes, yes, yes, that's my girl." Laurell didn't sound like she was talking about someone she thought of as her daughter at the moment.

"Another grandchild. Yes, I cannot wait for them to call me Papa like the others."

"We need to get everything ready for them." Laurell was talking about her own thing ignoring Bechard completely.

"I wonder if it will take after Jacy and be reckless or will it take after Kyle, I don't know him that well though." Bechard was likewise off in his own thoughts and ignoring Laurell.

The both of them, however, were ignoring all of us. They seemed to have started living in their own little worlds where they could neither see nor hear anyone else.

"Laurell." I was calling for them. "Bechard."

"Mr. and Mrs. Horne?" Kyle was trying to get their attention.

"MOM! DAD! Shut the hell up." EZ snapped at them. That, somehow, got their attention and they were finally calming down.

"That was rude Ezekiel." Laurell scolded her son.

"Why did you stop me from daydreaming, EZ? I was enjoying thoughts of what a new little grandbaby would be like." Bechard looked sad now that he was back with us.

"Well, maybe because we're all still here and you were acting like we didn't exist. Geez." EZ rolled his eyes. "This is Jacy's time, not yours. She is the one who is going to have a baby."

"Oh, you're right, EZ. We were getting way too excited. There is plenty of time for us to get excited later. Right now we need to focus on Jacy. We have nine months after all. When are you due sweetie? The beginning of February or the end of January?" Laurell had been really good at guessing the due dates for her daughters. So she was trying to do that for me as well.

"Well, no, I'm actually due more like between the beginning and middle of November."

"Huh? Wait, you're not-?" Laurell was confused.

"Kyle, when did you meet Jacy?"

"About two weeks ago now." Kyle answered honestly. It's just that Laurell and Bechard wouldn't understand it just yet. They didn't know about people like me and Kyle, and Bastian. They didn't know that not everyone they met was human. Some of them were a little something extra. That was why we were here though. We were going to explain the truth so they could accept and understand EZ and Bastian.. They had to know that their son was not with a human man and that things would be a little different.
