Chapter 79 - A NIGHTMARE

I never expected that Kyle was going to stick to his word. From the time he brought me into his place he hadn't made a single sexual advance. Every time he touched me it was in as innocent of a way as he possibly could.

He had helped to wash me in the shower but he didn't caress me at all. He had touched my hand a few times during dinner but that was just to hold it. Following dinner he had done nothing to move it in the direction of sex.

All we have done when alone is have sex. I mean not every second of every day but enough times that I think we've been naked with each other at least half of the time that we have both been awake together.

I fell asleep in Kyle's arms as well. We had been talking in his bed until we were both tired and ready to sleep. His deep, sexy voice and the warmth of his arms wrapped around me helped to lull me into a deep sleep.

I remember thinking before I fell asleep that I had never expected to have anything like this in my life. To the old Jacy this was the life that other people got to enjoy. I never thought that I would have a mate or that I would be happily falling asleep in his arms.

When I finally drifted off to sleep I started to dream immediately.

In my dream I pictured what looked like my future. I was further along in the pregnancy, my belly was large and rounded. I was still with Kyle. We were in a beautiful looking condo that was neither of our current places. I looked down at my left hand and saw a ring that had never been there before. I could feel a smile spreading across my face. There was warmth in my heart and happiness all around.

It was late fall, maybe around Halloween. I could see a pumpkin on the counter that looked like it was half carved. It felt like this was the best moment of my entire life so far. I was happy, I was with a man that loved me and made me feel safe, and I was going to have a family. All of those things I never thought I would have simply because…

That was when the door to the condo came crashing in. The dust and the debris was sent flying in every direction. It was utter chaos.

And what was on the other side of that door? What was it that caused this madness to unfold? Well, the better question would have been who.

On the other side of the smoldering door frame there was a group of men. In the lead was my cousin Matthew, a laughing sneer on his face.

"Hello there, baby cuz." The disgusting note of humor in his voice made me want to punch him instantly.

Behind him stood about a dozen men. Most of those with him were random people I didn't know. Hired muscle or pack members I had forgotten or never knew.

However, there was just that one person standing at the very back that I thought I recognized. There was that familiar looking person who was forcefully pushing his way past the others and into the home I was sharing with my mate.

That man, that bastard that was forcing his way into my life was none other than Victor. The man who had murdered my parents. The man that had made my childhood hell. The man who had tried to force me to marry him so he could run the pack.

Victor walked into the room looking just as I remembered him. Chances were he had changed somewhat over the last eleven years but he looked exactly the same in my mind.

I saw the twenty-four year old Victor. I was looking at the Victor with wavy light brown hair that was just long enough to fall into his eyes. I was seeing the Victor with the beautiful lime green eyes, bright smile with perfectly straight teeth, and a tall and strong physique. I was staring down the man that so many women in my former pack had lusted after but who just made my stomach turn.

The eyes he was looking at me with were the eyes of a cold blooded killer. He was looking at me in a way that said he had been waiting for me. The crooked grin he was giving me showed he took no notice of how unwelcomed he was.

"Hello Jacy dear, I have missed you so much. It's time to come home now. Our bed is waiting for you."

I jerked awake at his words, a cold sweat pouring off of me. I was breathing heavily and my heart was racing. That dream had felt just a little too real for my comfort.

My little freak out had not gone unnoticed. The moment I sat up in bed Kyle was sitting up next to me. He was blinking the sleep from his eyes but he was still looking around the room as if searching for the danger that must have been present.

"What happened? What's going on? Are you alright?" I felt his hands on me as if he were checking for wounds.

I didn't answer him at all and soon he had cleared his eyes enough for him to see. He could tell with side and smell that there was no one in the room so he had stopped looking for the threat and was focussing all of his attention onto me now.

"Jacy? What happened?" I could hear the worry in his voice. He could tell I was scared but he didn't know why.

"I-it's nothing." I stuttered slightly when I tried to answer him.

"It's not nothing. Tell me what happened. Tell me why you're scared." I felt anger flare in me that had nothing to do with him, but he was the only one here at the moment.

"Who said that I was scared?" I growled the words at him.

"Your racing heart and panicked breathing tell me all that I need to know." He was leveling a steading glare right back at me, completely unfazed by my outburst.

"Hahhh." I sighed. I knew that he would see through me but I couldn't help it.

"It's nothing."

I tried to get up then. I tried to leave the bed and give him privacy, but he pulled me back toward him and held me close.

"I don't want to hear your lies. Please, just tell me what happened."

"Fine." I resigned myself to my fate. He really was the only person I couldn't deny. I was kind of annoyed by that.

"I feel like I am in danger. Which of course means that I am putting you in danger. But on top of that I am putting EZ and his entire family at risk. Not to mention Bastian and everyone else that I have ever worked with."

"Why would you be in danger?" Kyle had tilted his head to the side, apparently he was curious about everything just like a real damn cat.

"Because by now Victor knows that I am in Boston. He will be sending scouting crews looking for me. They will undoubtedly be tracking me with something I left behind that might have a trace of my scent left on it. That or they're just going to go off of Matthew's description of what I looked like the other day. One way or the other though, they're going to come for me. And with my luck, they will definitely find me."

"Let them come!" Kyle growled the words. "Let them come and try to lay one finger on you. If they so much as look at you too hard I will kill them. You're my mate, my woman, my girlfriend. They can't get to you if they have to go through me first."

"You're really willing to stick with me through all of this?"

It was my turn to turn my head, my turn to be confused and curious. He had said words that still felt so alien and new to me.

"Why do you still doubt me, Jacy?" I could hear the sorrow that was in his voice. "Can't you understand that I will never leave you? I will never let anything happen to you. And I definitely would never hurt you. I love you." His words melted my heart so much that I couldn't help but smile.

"I love you too." I actually said it, and not just in a whisper. These words were loud enough for him to hear this time.

"I already knew that." He was grinning. "But it's nice to hear it louder this time." He leaned in and kissed my cheek gently. "Now come here and go back to sleep. We will talk more about this in the morning." Kyle wrapped his arms around me then and held me close. I felt his hand rubbing soothing circles on my back and soon I was back to sleep.. This time for a dreamless slumber.
