17 Experimenting

After understanding some basic physic laws about combustion, Reid is itchy to testing what he had learned so far into real action. For testing the new ability, he chooses a desolate place where no human residence nearby. The place where supposed to be the replacement for the orphanage that offered by the Sunrise estate is his choice. There are no people around, and if something bad happens, then only Sunrise Estate that will burden the damage. Since they already trying to do some harm to the orphanage, Reid didn't feel guilty if something bad happens there.

Equipped with some candles and lighter, Reid tries to practicing to master fire control or pyromancy. First, he lights the candle and takes several step distance from the candle. The second thing is trying to extinguish the fire from afar using his power. He chooses to learn this ability first in case there's another arsonist try to burn the orphanage, with this ability he can extinguish the fire before the fire burn the orphanage. Reid stretches his hand toward the candle, make a round shape with his hand and start imagining that his hand is the sphere that covers the candle and that sphere is blocking the oxygen from entering the sphere.

After first, second, third..and many trials been made and time being spend, finally the fire in the candle can be extinguished without blowing it up. Those trials already make Reid feels exhausted and full with sweat all over his body.

"Phew…finally. But is that really my ability or it because the wind blowing the candle and extinguish the fire? I need to practice more and more and find more effective ways to practicing. This practice really tiring me out"

After finish clean up the practicing site, Reid uses his teleportation ability to return to the orphanage. He needs to rest because he must look good for a new job interview tomorrow since his contract with his last job already over.

Next morning

"Good morning Reid"

"Good morning, sister Christina"

They exchange greetings when they meet in the dining room for breakfast.

"You surprisingly wake up early today, Reid"

"Ah yes, I have a job interview today. So after finish with my daily routine in here I will go to the job interview"

"Oh, that's great news. Where is this job interview take places?"

"Ruxton International hotel, sister. My former foreman gives the recommendation to apply for a cleaning service job in there"

"Hmm…good luck Reid. Being a cleaning service is not a bad job, that even better than become a drug dealer, thief or robber, although they get big money from that, it's not a work that God blessed"

"I know that sister, don't worry, I will not take that kind of job"

"I'm just concern because nowadays, young people only think how to get rich in a quick way, and didn't consider where the wealth comes from"

"Hmm…they must never meet people like sister Christina and get guidance like me"

"Hahaha…since when you start to talk sweet like that Reid?"

"I just said the truth sister, not sweet talk"

"Alright…alright…. I hope other kids in here also will become a good man like you Reid"

Reid face become red because sister Christina praise, to hide his shyness he shifts the conversation

"Sister, are you done with the breakfast? I'll wash the dishes right away"

"Ah yes, I'm done. You can get the dishes Reid"

Reid piled up the dirty plates and brings it to the kitchen to wash it as usual after they have breakfast. Sister Christina only smiles while watching Reid's back that walk to the kitchen.

"Good boy….with his ability, he can get money and become rich easily but he chooses not to do it. He can go into bank's vault without anything can block him and take all the money there, but still, he not doing that. He's like a knight in the modern era. I wonder what he will be later after he can master all his ability completely later. I hope I still have time to watch it"

After finish washes the dishes, Reid continues with his daily duty in the orphanage. Sweep the orphanage building's floor and after that clean the yard from dry leaves that fall from the nearby trees. Then he takes a bath and put the best clothes he got and going to the job interview with his old bicycle.
