23 First day in Luxor Hotel

Arrived at the library, Reid is heading straight to the science section. The librarian there already knows Reid as their regular visitor and gives him a warm welcome.

"Hello, Reid…comes to read as usual?"

Reid looks at the middle-aged librarian who wearing thick glasses and gives him a smile before reply to his greets.

"Good morning, Uncle…Yes, I come to read science books again"

"Okay, you know where those books located … makes yourself comfortable"

"Thank you"

Reid continues his walks to the science books section. The old librarian looks at Reid's from behind with admiration gaze. Many things from Reid that make him impressed, when Reid reading in the library until the closed hour, he's not just leaving after the library closed but voluntarily help the librarian to rearrange the books that left on the table to their respective shelves, especially for books that placed in the top shelves. That really helps the old librarian who no longer has a lot of stamina to climb up and down the ladder to put the books on the top shelves. This makes Reid and the old librarian had good relationships and sometimes they have a conversation when the library does not have many visitors. From their conversation, the old librarian knows that Reid is not continuing his study after graduating from high school, still, Reid comes to the library to study by himself. His will to keep study although no longer at school make the librarian admire him because the mostly young man at his peerage uses their time to have fun, clubbing, dating, shopping, gaming, etc.

Reid spends his time to read on the library until the clock shows it almost time for Reid to back to the orphanage and go his new workplace at Luxor International Hotel. After saying goodbye to the librarian, Reid takes his bicycle and back to the orphanage to change clothes and go to work.

"Welcome back, Reid"

Sister Christina greets Reid when he arrived in the orphanage.

"Thank you, sister. I'm home, but I'm will going out again to work. Ah right, I get some money when I was out, please accept this money to help kids study field expenses, sister "

After changing his clothes, Reid is heading to his new workplace, Luxor Hotel. Along with other new recruit workers, Reid was assembled in the staff room for a short briefing by his superior. His superior is a middle-aged man around his forty, Mr. Heinrich, who already work for Luxor Hotel for five years.

"Listen, you guys! Our hotel is a first-class hotel that serves many important figures. Politician, celebrities, business big shot, you named it. We're in a service business, servicing our customer is our job. Don't expect our customer to be like ordinary people, many of them have eccentric behavior, weird preferences, but don't laugh at that. Even if they spit on you without reason, you should bear it.

Some of our customers also prey object for the journalist. They come here because we guarantee their privacy here. So, those who have duties in the front door, keep this in your mind, don't let any paparazzi get close to our customer, don't give any information about our customer either. As long as our customer didn't make any scandals which can harm our reputation, let them do as their wish. If someday you see a popular actor enter one of our rooms with a woman, just pretend you don't see it. Once again, we're workers of service business, not public moral officers.

And for those in the cleaning section, if the customer said some part of the room is not clean enough although you already clean it, don't rebuke. Just politely apologize and clean that part immediately. And also never touch anything belonging to our customer. Our hotel didn't tolerate any thievery at all, all mishap conduct will be processed according to the law. If you caught stealing something from our guest, it's not just you get fired but also will be sent directly to the police.

Those in the laundry section, please be careful when handling customer order. Please read carefully the instruction on the clothes. It's not the same as if you damaged our hotel property, if you damaged our hotel's properties, at least you only got your salary cut. But if you damaged our customer property because your own recklessness, you'll compensate with your own money.

The last thing, please work hard and diligently. No slacking off, no half-heartily works, follow the conduct and you'll be alright. Dismiss and go to your respective post"

With that sentence, the briefing is over and all new employee heading to their respective workplace, including Reid.

"Hey, you! You with the scar on your cheek"

Suddenly Mr. Henrich called someone from the new employee flock. Reid who the only person which had a scar on his cheek stop walking and turn his back to face Mr. Heinrich

"Me, Sir?"

"Yes, you. Which department you belong to?"

"It's cleaning service department, Sir"

"You clean the kitchen and backside of the hotel. If you had to clean the room and front side, put some mask on your face. That scar of yours is not pleasant to see"

It's a harsh remark on Reid in his first day of working but Reid already used to it. Being looked down or get harsh remark because his scar is not something strange for Reid.

"Yes, Sir. May I leave now?"

"Just go"

Mr. Heinrich waves his hand to shoo Reid from the staff room. Reid walks out from the room and heading to his workplace. Although his first day working in Luxor Hotel start with something unpleasant, Reid still work wholeheartedly without complaining.
