30 Chapter 29

It has been two weeks since the ball, and my days are exhaustingly full. Training early in the morning, then meetings, updates, and decisions until afternoon, then nightly dinners with the council. Buford has not lost that brooding mood he has been in, barley speaking to me unless its official, ugh he frustrates me so much.

On a good note, Zaline and Kelvin seem to be getting cozier, she told me he asked her out on a date, and he seems to be amazing to her, so if she's happy, I'm happy.

The newer council members are nice and very insightful as far as I can tell, Sylar has actually been helping me with some training, he also has the precognition power. It seems he cannot get rid of the night visions, but taught me how to mentally block and unblock with the visions upon contact of someone else, I'm very glad we chose him.

The others have wonderful abilities as well, Orson (Buford's dad) is a healer, Zowie has fertility magic (Able to make plants, and other things fertile), Esma has Enchantment power, and Ferris has the ability to throw ice.

All of them are pretty amazing to watch. Finding out later when Kelvin made me think there was more than one of him, his ability was called glamouring.

We are all gathered in my new office after dinner, which is basically the second living room area in the house, everyone is chatting away when the butler comes up to me with an envelope.

"What is this?"

The butler looks at me and says "It was left on the door, someone knocked and before I could open it, they were gone with this pinned to the door mam" everyone in the room silent now.

"Let me open it, my queen, it may be dangerous" Sylar pipes up. I look around the room, seeing everyone's worried eyes, I hand it to him.

After opening it, and only a letter with no danger there "Would you like me to read it?" Shaking my head no, as it was addressed to me, he hands the letter over.

Slowly reading over the letter, feeling the intense stares and silence in the room, I reread it just in case I'm actually reading it right. Finally deciding to break the silence

"Not going into details, the main part of it states there is information regarding my mother, and I alone must meet them to find out" and then the room erupts into arguments.

"You can't" "That is crazy" "We will send guards" "You're not going alone" "What if they are lying" "What if it's Merdique" …..."I will never let you go into danger alone" was the only one to stick out to me the most, as I look at Buford.

Holding my hand up for silence, they comply with angry faces "I understand your arguments, I understand this may be a trap, and that its unwise of me to do so, but it's my decision, and I WILL go alone" Looking pointedly at him.

"Thanks to all of your training, I am very capable of doing this on my own, and I will allow some of you to stay a few blocks away from me for a safety net if that eases your worries" a few faces relax at this, but not the one I was mainly speaking to, his stone face staring at me with disagreement.

They eventually come around and we form a plan, not giving them my exact meeting spot but close enough for them to be nearby, we have some guards and council stationed all around me just in case. I tell everyone goodnight and will see them tomorrow. I go to my room without a glance at Mr. Moody, and his glares.

I'm not in the mood to deal with him, he doesn't make any of this easier on me by far. The news of my mother making my spirit lighter, I go to bed and dream of her face.
