16 Chapter 15

One more day until the council meeting, as I'm walking to Zaline's shop this morning. I snuck out without Buford noticing or maybe he was avoiding me as well after last night.

This meeting will hopefully tell me what is going on with me, and these walking corpses of magic. I actually wish we wouldn't, after last night, I want to curl back in my own little world away from everyone, it was easier with my visions when I didn't have people to care about.

Zaline looked up as the door dinged and I walked through, stopping before her normal greeting leaves her lips, looking behind me, waiting for one of the guys to pop up behind me. I look around and see no one here yet, as she just opened up the store "Are you by yourself?"

I look at her, and couldn't hold back anymore as I break down in tears, as she moves to come to hug me, I stop her shaking my head no, terrified to see her and anything to do with the vision from last night.

She tells me to sit down and goes to fix me some herbal tea to calm me down, even though this one smells better, I'm hoping they taste better than the last, even though I can't really taste anything at the moment, with all these tears.

Zaline being the ever-patient friend, she just waited to soothe me with it will be ok words. After a few minutes I calm down enough to talk, I told her about my vision of the room, and how I woke up before I saw it all, about Buford and the kiss, the vision of his eyes so full of terror, everything that happened after with us, and how I have feelings for both guys.

She just listens intently without ever interrupting me, waiting until I got it all out, only walking away to fix another cup of tea for both of us. "Honey, I know you have been through a lot lately, and you know you have someone in your corner, I'll always be here for you, Heir or not, you're my friend"

After sitting with her a while and talking for the first half of the morning in between customers, I feel better about things and accept the fact that I'm not alone in this life anymore.

Helping her in the shop makes my sense of normal return as well, being cooped up in that house the past two weeks, it's nice to have a change.

Remey text me checking on me, I tell him I'm at the shop with Zaline and he comes by to help as well. Everyone in lighter spirits as we're closing down shop, until Buford walks in with a brooding look, at our smiling faces.

Locking the door and heading up to Zaline's apartment, we settle in while I tell them about the vision of the room. I'm told this is the council meeting room that they always use that located right outside of town at some council-owned home down the bayou.

All four of us come with a plan of extra security and only allowing security and council members on the property. With Remey not on the council, he will act as security.
