118 A Comforter

Inside the car, there was a moment of silence. Both were quite nervous about their first dinner date.

"Do you have a particular place you want to eat?" Zach spoke first, breaking the silence.

"Hmm, none actually, it's okay wherever you want to take me," Keira excitedly said.

"Alright then. Actually, there's a place I want us to go to. I heard it's a good one," said Zach who had asked all his comrades about the best romantic place he could bring a woman on a first date.

Zach brought her at a newly opened restaurant that was known for a great skyline panoramic view of the Bay and Central Business District.

It was the first time Keira came to that place though she had already heard about it.

The restaurant took an innovative concept whereby diners move from room to room to experience a different environment, complementing the changing flavors.

First, a glass of whiskey on the rocks was served before starting the dining journey in an intimate grill room. In there a smoky aroma had lent itself to the fresh Tasmanian abalone, served with white asparagus and buttered sauce, which was truly an indulgence.

Keira pouted her lips because Zach did not let her also have a glass of whiskey.

Zach grinned and Keira stared at him admiringly.

"I really like it… You, smiling like that," she murmured with a smile then she felt Zach's hand taking hold of hers, so Keira blushed.

Zach smiled and commented, "I really like it too whenever you blush like that…"

That was the second time he complimented her blushing, the first was last night. Keira could feel the burning of her cheeks because Zach's compliment was music to her ears.

Then grilled wagyu steak was served.

Shrimp, caviar and sea urchin, a medley of seafood, and Keira almost tasted the ocean rolling on her tongue.

Then the Chef appeared with a king crab, which he then proceeded to steam on a mound of sea salt. The grill sizzled to life and the succulent crab was quickly prepared with a dash of lemon and olive oil.

The next two courses followed.

Afterward, they were led to a cozy drawing room with a skyline view of the Bay and where the deserts awaited them.

Zach hadn't let Keira's hand go all this time around.

She had been to a way more expensive restaurants before, but she felt that this restaurant and dinner was the best. Maybe because she was with her special someone and that already made the dinner perfect for her.

"Would you like to have a cocktail?" asked Keira because she wanted to celebrate.

Zach did not respond as if he was hesitant. Because he was afraid that Keira would torment him once more, like before.

"Hmm, let's just walk along the bay…" Zach suggested instead. He knew that Keira would love to do that with him based on what she had written in one of her letters.

Keira narrowed her eyes and with an arched eyebrow, she said, "I remember that I wrote something about walking at the bay. Hmm, alright, let's do that!"

She was very excited now. She remembered writing there that she wanted Zach to hold her hand and hug her for a long time, especially when the cold air of the ocean blew. She said she wanted Zach to be her comforter.

"You said you want a cocktail drink? Maybe we should drink instead?" Zach, who was obviously teasing her, asked because she looked too excited about going out.

"What is this? Why are you bullying your girlfriend?" Asked Keira with pursed lips that made Zach laugh.

"Okay then… my lovely girlfriend." Zach replied that made Keira blush.

Zach seemed to enjoy teasing her more and more. Not that she complained...

'If he keeps doing this… I'm afraid I'd melt very soon… or I'll die early because of lack of oxygen,' Keira mused helplessly.

Outside, the moon and the stars were shining brightly. Keira chuckled as she looked at her hand in Zach's. She never thought that holding hands like this could make her feel so happy.

His warm palm… Then she felt Zach stop walking, as he pulled her into his warm embrace for a tight hug.

"Hmm, is this enough to qualify as a comforter?" Zach whispered in her ear that made Keira giggle.

She hugged him back as she buried her face on his chest, feeling his warmth and smelling his manly scent.

She smiled because she could hear the loud thumping of Zach's heart. She was so happy to find out that her heart was not the only one that was beating irregularly.

"Yeah… Such security and comfort…" Keira murmured.

"Zach…" she whispered.

"Yes, Keira…" answered Zach.

"I've passed the interview and will start working next week as a reporter. Things will go hectic from then on. I mean I won't have a stable schedule by then… Can we spend more time this week together?" Keira asked with a sigh.

She got the call this afternoon. She was so happy but sad at the same time…

Zach gently stroked Keira's hair as he said, "Yeah… Let's spend more time together… I will file a week leave."

Keira raised her head to look at Zach and sweetly smiled at him.

Zach was immediately smitten and tempted by those lips, but he was hesitating because he didn't want Keira to think of him as a man who moved fast on things or taking advantage of her.

However, Keira was not cooperating well because Zach felt her lips touch his instead. It was a gentle kiss and the urge of wanting more took over him.

So he deepened her light kiss…

Keira was a falling star to him. A star, he never expected to come by. Like a falling star, without a warning, Keira appeared in his life at a full speed. But he was grateful for that and wouldn't mind getting hit by her at all.
